New Year's Eve eve

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Didn't want to get up....
DH says" what did you set that for" he thought I got the day off.
We can't seem to get the same day off.....probably kill each other anyway if we had to be cooped up together to long...LOL

(Zone 5b)

I set mine but got up before it went off....

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

That doesn't happen here very often.
I think I hear feet on the floor upstairs, to early for that

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Yep I did
He says "Hi gramma no more sleepin, no more dark"

Jesup, GA

Top of the mornin all! I'm off today and plan to paint the living room.....Its raining cats and dogs again over here. I bought some paint about 3 months ago. Thats the plan for today...if I dont get it done paint will eventually turn into goop. Grin....I move kinda slow around here some times. Lynnie do a few for me in the gym today. Need to feel the burn. Dont know if I'll be able to walk, because of rain. Good idea about rolling Lester's food into balls! Practice my fast ball. Oops sorry Lester I hit you in the head! Might be crosseyed when I get done with him! Grin....

Jesup, GA

Moon,I think it was V. that asked if Tooters had a Mrs. Tooters. Tooters,is a gentleman,he doesnt kiss and tell! Grin..Give a little turtle kiss from auntie D.! Going to stir my paint. Catch yall a little later on. Every one have a good day and be safe!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Dixie, if you're still there, add a little vanilla to the paint can. Old trick a pro taught DH.

Back to the grind, I hate the end of the year at work.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Good Morning Gypsy Ladies....what an industrious bunch you are. Just want to wish you all a good morning and a sweet day. Cleaning Kitchen cabinets today, fridge, stove, oven and Microwave.....I hate white cabinets. want to strip the 30 years of paint off these and paint them a nice flat dark expresso and replace countertop with concrete....let's see DH nick that with a knife....grin Want to paint the walls a pale icy blue and the wainscotting a soft cocoa brown. That is what I want to do....today I am washing cabinets....grin

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Someone needs to come wind me up and kick me into gear. Don't envy the painting and cabinet washing. Smiley what does the vanilla in paint do? JJ sounds like a busy day for sure Good Luck! Lynnie you can come go to bank and grocery store for me, I'll eat what ever you pick:-) Venice let us know how you are doing today. Joy is 11am here so thinking 4pm there and it is about time for you to key up and let us know how your day was. Moon, finally got lid off oven cleaner, thats as far as it got lol. May have to be a New Year Resolution. Have a great day everyone, and Hi Marti good to see ya in here.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

That is a step in the right direction Flowers....grin. Just too much gunk that comes from using the kitchen...grin. Getting GS in to do the bottom cabinets....don't feel like crawling around on the floor....grin. Just a quick pop in to say howdy....back to the grind....grin

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Everybody break for lunch!

Hi Flowers, the vanilla takes some of the nastiness away from the paint smell. Good for indoor painting.

Up here, indoor painting this time of year wouldn't fly, Miss Dixie. Can't open the windows.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

But Moon, if you painted the cupboards nice flat espresso brown, how would you keep them clean? Do they make washable flat paint now? I don't believe it!

My cupboards are old and white also. I asked DH to go over them a couple weeks ago. He added a little liquid dishwasher soap to some simple green in a bucket and went to town. He was so proud of himself, told me he washed the rag out in the sink instead of the bucket of cleaning stuff when he needed to.

Well, du-uh... (I would never *say* that, though)

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

I just don't want a super high gloss paint. Hopefully I can find a paint that will durable and washable that isn't super shiny. Aren't they cute when they discover common sense? grin

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Yeah. That always annoyed me. Change the darn bucket!

A satin finish would give you a washable surface without a high gloss. Just has a slight sheen to it. A guy at work was telling me he goes to Hone Depot and pick his colors from the Ralph Lauren line (he said they have nice, subdued dark color he likes), then takes the swatch to Benjamin Moore because they have a paint that's around $50/gallon but you only need 1 coat. When we did DD's room (she picked out Bijou red, which is a shade less bright than twizzler red) we got a brand that was about $35/gallon. The guy told us to get that because we'd only need 2 coats instead of 6. He said those brighter & darker colors are hard to do and not notice the roller lines.

DH worked with a professional painter for a while - taught him a lot of tricks. Said you never notice a good paint job until you see a bad one.

Hi everyone,it's 9.30 here and so only 2.5 hours to 2010,I'd like to wish all of you and your families and all the pets, including ones who live outside such as Dixie's Poos,a peacefull, happy, healthy and prosperous NEW YEAR.
With lots of love and best wishes
Joy:}

Will chat tomorrow,as have a friend of mine visiting tonight, who I've not seen for a while.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Joy, you will be having a new year very soon now. So just want to wish a happy and peaceful coming year in 2010!

I was thinking about this wandering jew that was one of the plants I picked up on the curb. It is probably the most unattractive ones. And I just realized that this plant is not even a perennial and it is not much of a houseplant. Look at it and see what you think.

It's a very nice little houseplant, Venice. I have one, I don't know if it is exactly the same kind, but in the same family.

Let me see if I can find a picture of mine. Here it is when it gets the pretty little flowers. It's not very showy, but a very nice plant.

I think this one might be a better picture of the whole plant. It is the one in front of the geranium.

Happy New Year, Joy!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Happy New Year to you and your family Joy. Have a lovely visit with your friend.

They make nice hanging baskets too Venice, and if you pinch them back after they bloom, they get bushier.

I envy your windows Smiley...grin

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Smiley, I wish I had windows like that with so much light! The lanky stems I have cut off, rooted them, and put them back in the pot. It doesn't look too bad if they are nice and bushy and in a big pot like yours. What are those little green things to the right of the jew?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Smiley, do you put that pot outside when it is warm? Or does it always stay inside?

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Joy wishing you a very Happy New Year!!!!! Gonna try to send this right on the 12 mark for you since I will probably be asleep when it hits here lol.Three, Two , One

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Me too flowers...lol

Happy New Year Joy

Smiley run down and take a picture of that ball dropping..

(Zone 5b)

Hello everybody!
Happy New Year to all!
I just got in from work, I had a very nice day, I like my new old job! :)
There were 2 inches of snow on the ground when I got out. We're going to get lobsters for dinner, and stay in.
What is everybody doing tonight?

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

I'm cooking prime rib and watching little GS.

Eating shrimp cocktail and watching scooby doo.

Its to cold to go anywhere.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi All. Lynn, so glad you like your job. Think you are gonna be happier. Great move for the New Year.

DH is working tonight, and GS is going to shoot fireworks at a friend's house. Tonight is the BlueMoon. so I will be celebrating with a howl or two....grin

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Here is my New Years wish to my Gypsi buds from Abba

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zw1vvGYHQBw Yahoooo party time!!! I hear the fireworks and whistles now LOL

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

lobster and prime rib, Moon get your snow boots on we are going to Lynnies and JJ's!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Sorry, I got lost.

Venice, the green things are coleus from the summer. I picked a few tops off, will see if they live through the winter.

Thanks on the sunroom comments. The front of our house faces south, 4 windows. 2 windows facing west & 1 east, but that one sees the porch. We just replaced all the windows this year. I love that room. Needs more windchimes though (( LOL )).

It's not heated, pretty cold in the winter unless the sun is streaming in.

JJ, I'll run real fast cross-state to drop that ball. Might have to stop at Flowers' and pick up her Big Wheel, though. I'm pretty short, legs will get tired.

Someone told me they have a new, improved ball in NYC this year. Colorful.

DH & Buddy are asking if we're all on line right now? Talking to each other?

... and you find this strange, how??

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Yeah, yeah.. count me in. Lobster & Prime Rib? You guys know how to do it up!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Oh how rude.. am I invited?

Just popping in here for a second to wish everyone here a wonderful and prosperous New Year!!! Great and such a true opening statement to this new thread Jean.
