Some HUMONGOUSLY IMPORTANT EVENTS going on here, obviously. One wonders what they might be...
Offical Muffler Sulking Section etc part 4
What a beautiful dog. What kind is he?
Andre is a Belgian Tervuren he is the 3rd one to run my life. Living with one is like living with a hyper active, mischievous, intelligent 2 year old and they NEVER grow out of it. The are very, very intelligent, in fact they are scare smart. He is always into something, but even when he is being bad he makes me laugh.
At least you will only be in the 20's, wren dear - just a bit to the north of you (about 250 miles) we are supposed to have another few nights of 13 -16 with Saturday night/Sunday morning down to 10! But you're soooo right - we in the south certainly are not used to this! I am not getting many eggs right now, but I am afraid what I get later in the week may be frozen! HeeHee
Right and my poor plants many are toast. And I hate to see our next month electric bill. I have 2 heaters and 3 lights on in the green house.
My orange trees are covered in fruit which will all freeze in the up-coming 20 degree nights! At least we have been warned. I have 15 (at last count ) outdoor water spigots to wrap and protect, plus numerous hoses to drain etc. I hate cold weather anyway but this is the pits. - Yes, I know, many of you are dealing with MUCH worse, but it's not Supposed to be cold here.
sorry to hear of all the orange freezeing . Such a shame all them farmers are working so hard.
pork just be glad your not in Wisconsin ? they got 5 ft of snow ? i think the tv weather liers say . Even i wouldn't want to be in that deep of snow and -28 ! or was in upstate NY ? with all the snow. gee my memory is bad .
I guess its all this yummy rummy fruit cake i m eating. i just added more rum this morning and am nibbling on it with some Peete's coffee. i love it.
wren i don't think you ever half to worry about anyone messing with you with that dog around :)
Thank you, Wren! It's 15* right now, and snow expected tonight and tomorrow! It was about 7* overnight . I was out and about yesterday, and boy! was I wishing for a scarf!
taynors I m afraid that Andre is not a guard dog. He loves the "WORLD" he even likes the postman and the UPS driver. He has never barked at people. He has growled a couple of times at things in the night. Crazy dog is just happy 99% of the time.
We may get snow later in the week or ice. I am hope it is only snow and the ice stays away. This city can not handle ice.
It is only problem is he does not understand the Alpha thing and it has gotten him in trouble a couple of times
The boxes are on their way.
I shall sulk no longer; a beautiful NWD plus hat, which was TOTALLY unexpected, was in my post office this afternoon. Grow, thank you thank you thank you! They're lovely and warm and will definitely keep me toasty. I would actually call them blue rather than green, but I have a blue coat that they will look luvverly with, plus they will protect me from arctic breezes as I go get the paper in the morning. As soon as I can, I will get DH to memorialize same with a camera and I shall post the picture. Thank you, thank you! What fun!
Dang...it looks green next to all my blues, but I see green in a lot of places most don't. Sorry about that. Glad they'll work though.
LOL then I wont tell you it is a balmy tee shirt weather, 60 degrees today. Billy and I had a small water fight doing chores.. LO Wren, you mean owning one of those breeds is like having Billy for ever... Pretty though...
Miss J YES!!!!! And they are FULL of mischief!!!!! I am crazy as he is the 3rd one who has owned me.
Let me tell y'all a little story that will show how intelligent he is. A couple of mornings ago after his morning meal he decided that he was still hungry. He sit in from of me and licked his lips, I told him "no" he licked them again. I said "NO". He licked them again and I told him "no, no , NO!!"(he is over weight) He clearly thought about it and went and looked around until he found a piece of paper and gave it to me. I told him "no". He thought about it. Then went and get a towel that I had used to clean up the water that he had pawed out of his water bowl the night before. I told him "no". He thought about it then went and get his food dish and dropped it into my lap and gave me this look that clearly said "do you understand me now" I laughed and gave him some treats.
Oh that is soo cool, we will be looking for another friend for Boozer (Billys Heeler I got him for his birthday 2 years ago) she is really missing Tiny. They have been together since Booz was weeks old, and now all Booz does when she comes in the house is lay on my bed..
Wren, it's so much fun to read about dogs that can reason! You're going to get gifted with that food dish a lot now, though!
Does your dog like carrots? My labradoodle adores them and they're a great low calorie treat. I give her the small baby size; I usually have a package of them in my refrigerator anyway.
When my doodle was a pup she wanted to join me while I was sitting in my big, soft chair. I told her, "You're welcome to come up, but don't you want to get a toy first?" She looked at me, looked over at her stuffed owl, went and got it, and jumped up on my lap. I never had a bright dog before, so I am really enjoying her.
No he does not like carrots unless they have something on them but he does love his freeze dried green beans, that I get from Oh nuts http://www.ohnuts.com/buy.cfm/bulk-snack-mixes-granola/green-bean-chips
Miss J they are great farm dogs but they go through 3 years of puppyhood and must be trained very gentlely as they will shut down if you are to hard on them-to smart to take rough treatment. Plus they can have a very high herding/work drive. That is part of the problems that I have with Andre the demon child
Can I ship him to you????LOL
Just southerly of MissJ in Lake Havasu today. (Methinks it is called Lake Havasu cuz the first lady settler had a baby named Sue but I'm not sure about that). Warm and toasty and no one is wearing NWDs. Met 2 puppies yesterday south of Maricopa that were rescued wild dogs from the desert. You can't pet them as they are anxious about peoples. Also on this spread were burrowing owls which I tried to pictify. Lonediver has built a habitat for them and has a flock of 6 which live on the edge of his land. I will upload my distancly pics when snoring DH awakes. As we couldn't get too close (as they are a wild flock) my pics are probably not very good. ps neither the wild dogs or burrowing owls were wearing NWDS.
What kind is he?
The beans are a good alternative!
Andre's and kind also have a dancing drive too ^_^
If you are asking about Andre he is a Belgian Tervuren.
Burrowing owls are definitely high on the Cute Index, wild dogs probly not so much so. Wearing NWDs or not, unfortunickly.
Looking forward to uploaded distancly pics. (This is driving my spell-checker nuts, you know - how appropriate, though!)
Dahlia, you are becoming ever more cryptic....
Wren, yes, I meant André. I've never heard of a Belgian Tervuren. Wherever did you find him?
Oh yes he does like to dance http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/978284/
I get mine here in the south. But best bet is to get in touch with the National club and they will give you contacts. You do need to find a breeder that is breeding for good temperaments as there are some out there who are not. They are not a breed for everyone. You must have a sense of humor because they can be a handful. Read the breed stand very, very careful. they are a active, intelligent mischief demons. It does help if you are a littel(maybe a lot) crazy to start with. I am living with my third one.

I'm not in the market for another dog, Wren; my DH didn't even want this one although now he is totally in love. I was wondering where you would find such an unusual breed, though.
When I got my labradoodle I specifically looked for temperament and definitely got it; she's wonderful with kids and very mellow and eager to please. I take her when I pick my granddaughter up at school every day and she's the schoolyard mascot; all the kids come over to pet her. I am sorry I spayed her just because she's such a wonderful dog, although I would not have wanted to go through the hassle of puppies. We did that once with our Irish setter!
I met my first terv at a dog show. I was sitting watching one of the show rings and suddenly the back of my neck was being licked and I looked around into a laughing face and fell in love. Lucky for me the t breeder lived here in Jax. In fact the dog who licked the back on my neck would became of the father on my first terv. It is not a common breed and we want to keep it uncommon. And we try very hard to keep them out of pet stores as they are not a breed for everyone. I kept a rescue for a few weeks that at 1 year had already been through 2 homes. Thankfully the 3rd was her forever home.
He loves to open boxes
Ooooh Dahlia! You could be the proud owner of a flock of burrowing owls. That would be a first for our little group. I think it would suit you most speciallyriffic.
I have a hatch thread commencing. We may need your Ninja skills.
Wren, he is the most bootiful doggie I ever saw!!! Very intellijenck, too! (How'm I doing?)
Oooo Dahlianut, they are the cutle-wootle-est owls EVER! I remember seeing other pictures of Lonediver's habitat a few years ago on here when he was building it. So nice to see the owls having their homeses there. Are you adopting a flock then?
lonediver says that we must move to the neighbourly 4 acres beside him. Methinks that the owlets might come to live close to me there ^_^ DH is keen on owlets but not keen on having to truck water yourself which lonediver has to do.
Were you able to observe them gyre and gimble, dahlianut?
Cousin Catscan lonediver taught me how to do the 'owl bob' ^_^ oops DH is frowning at me to get off the puter and into the car. Latuh!
