Grey - i had the two maps mixed up, and I suddenly realized it, so I had to reverse them. You must have looked in the middle of my reversing. Don't worry, you are not losing your mind and your computer is working.
Offical Muffler Sulking Section etc part 4
Darn I thought I lived in Florida not Georgia no wander it is getting so cold. Miss Moxon you moved me over 200 miles west and north. Maybe that is why we are having 21 degree weather in the morning. LOL
sorry do to health problems I can not travel that far. Thought sleeping in your barn might me better for me than this darn chair.
i have a suggestion.. If this works well the first time.. what if we consider kinda moving it around each year.. Stay with or near someone one year.. & someone else the next year? This makes it closer some years to certain people (like wren) who can't travel as far as others..
just a small suggestion. The girls I grew up with.. we considering doing that.. drawing straws to see who would host everyone each year. So we were never in the same place twice in a row & the ones who were fruther got a break at some point.
I know, all my stars moved Northwest. I think it's when I resized the map. Screwed up pretty much everybody's location, but not by so much that it didn't work.
Even if you didn't attend, the maps stay pretty much the same because the Southern folks (you and MissJ) sort of counterbalanced the Northern folks (Dahlia and Batflower) meaning that the center would still be the center.
Good idea Grey! Of course it will always depend on people's schedules and when they are writing the bar exam and stuff like that. Groan.
I cannot believe you didn't add me to that map... I will now sulk deeply for the rest of this evening!
Oh Claire, your first map had my star dead on... WHOOO HOOOO you got it. Most times people put it too far east. I like the Idea of Claires place, but I will have to duck tape Billy, he would be in lamb heaven. He now looks at Marshmallow and calls her a lamb, still thinking she would be fun to ride, but I gently remind him she is making clothes not cowboys....
Could I get there by Train? I have always wanted to take Billy on an adventure by train, I think he would find that a hoot.
Either I'm off somewhere in the ocean, invisible, or you got me in the middle of PA. But I doubt if I would be up for a trek in any case, although it sounds like loads of fun!
Fran - you ARE on the map, but your star is moved northwest of where you really are. I'm going to have to redo all the stars because everybody thinks they are not there when they really are. Your star was originally in the general vicinity of Rankin but it has moved.
G-G, yes, your star moved northwest also, and you are now the star in the middle of PA. There is another star that was supposed to be in northern PA that is now in the great lakes.
Sigh.
ROFLAPMP watching the 'wandering' stars. Grey everyone lives in Kansas at some point cuz of the rainbow thing. mi mi mi
♫ Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away.... ♫
EEK! Dr Doo be sure the stars in the lakes can swim!
oo oo oo.. Kansas is bad... very very bad.. kansas is flat.. its not the land of the rainbow.. can't be dahlianut. Its really Missouri & the people just thought they were in Kansas.
(I'm thinking of Wizard of OZ & it doesn't sound like you are... wanna catch me up?)
Golfed with a Missourian yesterday ^_^ Luvly man. Ahhh that is very sensical about the portal to Oz being in MO and Toto just thinkin they were in Kansas. Toto was always a befuddling character for me (and too yippy IMPO).
Claire - What would be the closest major city to you where there might be an Amtrak stop?
I wouldn't call it a "major city" but Osceola has an Amtrak stop and it's about 40 minutes from me. I have taken Amtrak to Chicago and Washington DC before. I love the train!
Train Party WHOOO HOOO!!!
I live in West Tn., and I would love to do this, but might not be able to. Swvweal of us on another thread met in Ala. a couple of years ago for a weekend, and we thoroughly enjoyed it!
Doe41 - I am most intrigued by the word "swvweal" in your second sentence. Is that from the Dahlianut dictionary. I am having trouble pronouncing it. I think I need to be Dahlia to say it right.
:-) (just messin' with ya!)
Dahlia - have you ever taken Via Rail across Canada? I used to take it overnight from Toronto to Halifax. I got my own little sleeper cabin and slept like a log on the train. Always had a grand time. Feels very civilized. And you can knit while being on the train, unlike while driving (at least it's not recommended, although Catscan has done it).
Sorry, I really should edit my posts! That should be "several"! That was unintentional, wish I could come up with stuff like y'all do!
swvweal is said like svelt except whwhier. Noper Dr Doo on CNR but I doo want to take it from Cowtown to Vancouver as it has glass roofs to see the mountains. Of coursely you can knit while driving specially if you are knitting the car which Cousin Catscan can do.
Knitting socks on five dp needles (especially a new and complicated pattern) while going 75 down I5 is not to be recommended. The yarn gets very tangled.
Other than that I cannot say--I find knitting in heavy urban traffic very therapeutic--you sit at a light or stuck in a jam and think--"Oh, please don't let the light turn green until I finish this row...." A great antidote to road rage.
I am having difficulty with the on board computer system, dahlianut dear....the instructions I have are for crochet, same with the hubcaps. I cabled the fenders and I think they look very nice. A little concerned about having enough yarn from the same dye lot to finish the project.
I love the train...I once, in order to avoid flying, took an Amtrak from Houston to Dallas (a flight of about 45 minutes)...it took 9 hours. Lots of quality knitting and reading time--plus a great anthropological opportunity to study the underwear flapping on the clothes lines of small town Texas.

Knitting with FIVE dps, YIKES!!! I can barely manage four....lol.
My first train trip was from Portland to Bakersfield (my DH's hometown), it was 23 hours. It was really fun and , like Catscan said, very interesting to see what people have in their backyards...lol.
dahl, thanx for decoding my post! I couldn't have!
Houston to Dallas in nine hours via where? Driving takes five, pulling a trailer.
I think it was a fairly straight shot, porkpal. The problem was the tracks. The tracks were in such poor condition that we just poked along....and then we would stop, sometimes for an hour or more, in small towns that no longer even had a station. We would just sit, staring into people's backyards. No explanation why. I think we were probably waiting for freight trains to clear the tracks.
I only did it once. I loved it...but it is hard to justify losing a whole day for the solitary fun of going at a snail's pace through the plains. And it wasn't cheap. I was living in Houston at the time and my parents were in Dallas, Richardson, actually, and then Plano. They sort of wanted to see me:0)
My DH is from Nova Scotia and my family is from Ontario, The first time I met his family, I did the Via rail trip from Toronto to Halifax. He flew, but I was 7 months pregnant and was advised not to fly......It was a long trip, not fun. But, I could see it being a blast if your mobility was good and you didn't have to pee every 5 min. I might have to give long train rides another chance sometime :-)
Doe I have your NWD boxed up but forget to take it with me when I Braved the cold to go to the PT. Will try to BRAVE the COLD tomorrow. It will be down in the lower and I mean LOWER 20's tonight again. WHO LEFT THE FREEZER DOOR OPEN!!!!!!
I went out Sunday to buy a coat, could not find one. LOL I have one ordered from Amazon. Hope they get it here express.
Stay snuggled dear wren. DRAT I just knew I should have sent you mittens before I left! Something was twinkling in my synapses that foretold brrrr in the southeastly climes. Being sparkly I should trust my twinkles.
LOL I do not know if I can stand 10 days of freezing temps.
Dehlia dear did you for get to close the freezer door before you left????
Noper dear Wren. I only set fans for WI which had requested sparkly snow for Christmas. For once there was a *HUMUNGOUS INCIDENT OF HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE* when I didn't muck about with the weather transporter. My weather transportation has gone awry a tad in the past (oops) although understandably these things can happen to rocket scientists. Did I mention the *HUMUNGOUS INCIDENT OF HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE*? I will need to fall back on this defense for sure in the future.
oh dear me Dahlia, it sounds *HUMONGOUSLY IMPORTANT* indeed.
He looks so majestic in that pic wren!
EEK! I'M AFEERD! EEK!
o wren.. he's just smiling in that one.. he's just got a full set of teeth still.
