Has Daves been slow lately ?

I was gonna comment that things are back to 'flying' again this morning.

hmm ... I just made a post on the Tropical Plants forum where I uploaded a photo to my post. I made note of the time when I hit send, it was 11:10 a.m. and it finally transmitted at 11:17 a.m. I think the slowness has to do with our cable company and problems they are still having with the internet.


Moon: old and gray/blonde here! Gee, this machine is faster than I thought. ^_^

Hey Lin...it transmitted 53 minutes BEFORE ya sent it....grin I'd say that was pretty darn fast...(just teasing ya)

The photo might have been larger than usual, also...

LOL Dave, I never even thought about that. My husband gave me a new camera for Christmas and I was just asking him last night what was the difference between Megabytes and Kilobytes. I just checked and the photo I took and put on the thread was 3.3 MB! Gee, I think I should have been born in 1988 instead of 1948. ^_^ My old brain just doesn't register with today's technology!

I bet that's your problem--I got a new camera about a year ago that takes higher resolution pictures than my old one did, and it made a significant difference in how long pictures take to upload. With the old camera they would load almost as fast as a text-only post, but with the new camera it typically takes several minutes. There are also occasional times when it'll get stuck and the picture won't go through--usually I try again and it works fine, but if you ever run into that and can't get a picture to go through, try downsizing it with your photo editing software and it should go through fine.

Hi Dave...just wanted to touch base...things are getting a bit bogged down....not as long as before but acting like the site has to "think" a minute before it acts. The exact time is 7:46 CST.

The site has really been slow just within the last half hour or so. It's 2:56, pm, CT, right now. Sometimes after hitting enter, I just get a blank screen with "done" down in the lower left hand corner. I have to hit refresh to actually get anything to show on the screen.

Now that I've edited the post, I am getting "done, but with errors on page" in the lower left corner.

It was my fault. I've been doing some housecleaning work around here, specifically around the forum system and the login system. That slowed things down a little bit, but they should be back to normal.

I too noticed a lil bit ago... just logged on... i figured it was the wifi connection... but it's flying now.
