If have a Shell Vine that I tried to take a cutting from for my mom. I took the cutting from the top of the vine. It did not kill my vine. But the spot where I took the cutting from stopped growing. About 2 inches of the plant on that side turned brown. It shot out a new runner from the top but from the left of where I took the cutting from. Is this normal or did I do something wrong? (Hope this makes sense. I'm not sure how to describe what happened)
Shell Vine (Vigna caracalla) qustion
It sounds normal to me. Although I don't grow the Vigna caracalla vine I have a few plants that when I prune them, the new shoots come from the sides of the remaining stem at the top. Dracaena and Dieffenbachia's seem to grow this way as well ... cut off the top/end of a branch/stem, and new growth comes from the sides causing the plant to branch out.
