Becky, thanks and i needn't worry about that. It seems that I found a seed-pod that was ready to harvest several months ago, and bagged it as "do not plant";)

Merry Christmas! And good nite!

This is an unidentified asagao I got in a seed trade a few years ago on GardenWeb from GW member Arum. She named it Bold Miss Piggy, and the bright red color certainly makes the flower live up to the bold part of the name. I have this one growing indoors, and for some reason the flower either splits or does not open up fully. I will have to grow it this summer to see how it performs outdoors.

Nice color Joseph. I grew that one in 08 but I'm pretty sure my color wasn't that bold.

Any ideas of what the cultivar might be, Jackie (or anyone else)?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Joseph, I Grew it from Ronnie's seed, labeled as Bold Pink.
Ronnie told us she didn't like the name of Bold Miss Piggy
and changed it. That's all I know about this one.
Here's my pic from 08

Thanks for the explanation, Jackie. Your flower was a knockout!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Joseph, Yours was a beauty too, almost a red.
I only grew one sd that yr, I need to try again and see what I get. :-)

Joseph - Is Bold Miss Piggy an I. nil or I. purpurea? Nice bloom color for sure.

It is Ipomoea nil ssp. growmeagainensis. LOL

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL and a growmeagain forsuresis

the seedlings are really going now..

It looks happy, Debra, good growing!

This cultivar is not from " carol " collection ?

http://lionnet.fc2web.com/JMG/MGsell2.html#are

It has that same flower shape, Dany, but I don't think it is showing the dwarf growth character. It makes a nice long vine.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

I like that one too Ronnie.

(Daniel) Mount Orab, OH(Zone 6b)

Thank u all!

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

really lovely! I have yet to get a flying saucer that looks like those.. only three more months until spring? SIGH

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

I've been waiting for years for a blue striped flying saucer!! ):-

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Daniel - Your Flying Saucer vines are truly beautiful! That is interesting that they are blue, but then again, I've never grown any yet, so I would imagine that might be a color possibility especially since I saw gardenpom's Blue Star/Flying Saucer crossed blooms which look very similiar to yours! Have you ever grown Blue Star? Perhaps yours are a cross, too! Both cultivars are I. tri-color.

(Daniel) Mount Orab, OH(Zone 6b)

Thanks everybody!

•Ronnie, there are non-blue striped Flying Saucers around? I know that some unscuplous seed comps mix in (totally here) or foist off Blue Star as Flying Saucers.

•Becky, This year I grew

*Flying Saucers, one with mostly blue star in it, and a absoluty crazy seed that was in a packet of Bohemian Shades look-alike.

*Pearly Gates, one on the old TV tower and one BIG one in the Color Volcano garden (with most of the other MGs). I am still amazed by the purity of the flowers!

*Heavenly Blue, one on the old TV tower with the Pearly Gates, and another with sunflowers(!!!).

*Blue Star, originaly only in mixed in with the FS, then planted a single seed on the east sid of the house...

You mentioned a pic of a Blue Star X Flying Saucers cross, where is that?

Sigh... I just looked at one of the pix I posted (the one with the rosy coloring) and remembered that this one was a fluke on an otherwise normal vine.

Can't wait for Spring to get here... Catalogs are arriving... Want to plant NOW!!! ;-)

How do I know if it's a hybrid or a variant ?

Again a mysterious photo !

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

DMgardener, It seems I always wind up with either a purplish looking FS or a BS acting like one!! LOL Never the true blue striped one!!

Love the dark FS Dani!!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

The dark flying Saucers is nice but I love the mysterious bloom,

Dany - That Dark Heavenly Blue/Blue Star is fabulous! What a beauty! And I love the blocked colors on your "mystery" vine! WOW! Truly stunning!!

Melbourne, FL

Still getting a few Glories, although the vines are looking worse with the colder weather.
