onewish1,

Great lights and music!

Some real toe-tappers, a nice change from the frequently dreary (albeit spiritual) nature of some holiday music selections.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I love it Allison!

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Awwww....Allison! I loved your Christmas show! Thanks so much for posting it! Dunno HOW you do it!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

thx joann

harper here are your directions - first make sure no one is at home - grab some maple syrup and saranwrap - with head over sink start squirting the maple syrup into your hair and rubbing it in - after you are covered in syrup wrap your head with the saranwrap - do not walk in front of windows where neighbors can see you - wait and hour or so and wash it out

be careful applying the syrup - i went to give her a hung and almost got stuck to here cheek - her head was covered in the stuff.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds kinky, Bill.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

there was some bartering going on when she asked for help - no dice though:)

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

Love the light show, Allison!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Light show is great, Allison.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Great Bill! Maybe I'll try it. Guess I'd have to buy a half gallon of the stuff...

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I wonder if you can use the cheaper stuff, syrup is DARN expensive.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

And I think there are better things to do with a woman dipped in syrup...

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Victor!!!

Just looked it up. Says all I need is a 1/2 cup.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Phoebe - I am considering shrubs to get for my friends in Meriden. Is your area accurately 6A? How low have you been going in temp in winter?

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

To be on the safe side, I would go with 5b--though Meriden is usually a tad warmer than Enfield. Temps can hit -5 to -10 or so (rarely to-20), once or twice a winter, but more often stays above -5 degrees. And the cold snaps are usually brief. If your friend is into mulching, winter protecting, has a warm southern exposure or micro-climate, then 6A would be safe. It is the crazy weather changes and bizzaro extremes here that'll get ya! Seems to occur in one form or another every season these days. What were you thinking about?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks Phoebe. I got them a nice jm last year that they have not killed so I want to pair it with a conifer of some sort.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Aaaaaah! Don't give it away! I'm waiting with very little patience until this season of Dexter comes out on Netflix. I don't have cable TV. Showtime is being stingy and won't let me stream it on their website. Stinkpots.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Ah! Sounds very nice! BTW--I'm gonna need some advice on trees--not my area of expertise or experience. Captain Kirk, (the property manager here, who has control issues with Mother Nature) just chopped down the 2 large healthy trees growing outside my window! Apparently they had the audacity of being messy on his el-cheapo roof and gutters. I yelled at him for taking such harsh measures...now he is asking me to tell him what trees to plant to replace them! Grrrrr! Soooo.....it's a south west exposure, the height should be about to top of 2nd story so we don't mess up that roof! And fairly compact growth, as they will be somewhat close to the building. I wonder what he plans to do with those big old stumps.
Oh yeah...and he would like it to flower....sheesh!

Sounds nice for a dogwood or redbud.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Cool! I was thinking dogwoods also--Any fave vendors?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Magnolia?

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Thought of that one too, but don't they tend to be a lot messier after blooming? For a gardener, he's a neat freak--LOL!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

For a decent sized tree, he should check locally.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

phoebe go to a local nursery and get a good sized one that will at least replace the first floor view - the dogwood venus is a nice one.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I have to clear out about 200lb of heavy fleshy magnolia blooms every year, I can't leave them where they fall, it's just too much they attract insects and disease if I leave them there. They stink too as they decompose.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I would look for something will good fall color too.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Good to know WC, I haven't had mine long enough to have that problem yet. ^_^

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Lucky you! lol! The tree is beautiful, the largest in the neighborhood. BUT the back-breaking work is no fun so soon after the fall leaves. There's a good side and a bad side... ☺
