No she doesn't have a computer. She loves flowers and enjoys her few houseplants but doesn't really have an interest in gardening.
Indoor Blooms & things that get you through the winter #2
She is doing what ever pleases her.
Good morning! LOL! I've almost always had a lot of houseplants--and started gardening as a child--for me, it soothes the soul ^_^
love zombie Holly!!!
Me too!
Sorry to hear about the liliputian thing phoebes :( I hope you aren't going to lose any of your favs?
:(
Here is my beloved Jasminum polyanthum, which bloomed on cue for New Year's. I have 3 pots of it in the music room window garden. To see the flowers better, I moved this one to the piano, so the snow-white stars could be seen against a black background.
What a powerful scent its flowers emit! Makes practicing Chopin a joy!

very nice!
A scented music room would be heavenly! I haven't played in eons. I doubt I could anymore :( not-so-tiny tim is prettiful.
(Not) Tiny Tim is gorg-a-licious!
Phoebe & Dahlia - I have two pots of Sweet Olive. Love it. I wrote about it here http://www.agardenforthehouse.com/2009/10/sweet-olive-osmanthas-fragrans.html
About the piano: I play Chopin...and Bach...and lots of rock-n-roll. Plants in the music room window seem to enjoy a wide variety of musical styles :)
I believe it Kevin. All my tomato seedlings prefer Aerosmith. Siam Queen basil was always slow to start until I learned it likes I'm A Little Tea Pot. My french tarragon Gigi is very fond of 'Thank Heavens for Little Girls' sung in my best Maurice Chevalier voice. I have songs for certain perennials and bulbous things too. I keep a list of who likes what ^_^
Dahl, I surround my orchids with classical and jazz, and my hoyas get everything but often Motown. Here's some info I found: http://www.dovesong.com/Positive_music/plant_experiments.asp
BTW, my DBF sings awsome Chevalier but I can't send wav files on DG to prove it. Wish I could, he is an inspiration to us all!
I believe the plants died of boredom listening to the constant tone for sure! Thanks Boo.
Dahlia - LOL!
Boojum - Wow, fascinating stuff. Thanks for the link. I'll have to write a blog about this.
Kevin
Boo--what do your dendrobiums, in particular, prefer? Mine seem to be reluctant bloomers! My plants get Beatles, Motown, Neil Diamond--and various snippets of other pop artists. Jim Brickman--Mandheim Steamroller please the hoyas--Bon-Jovi for Begonias, and, for obvious reasons, Columbus grooves to Elvis!
Based upon the research linked above, it seems that all plants enjoy middle-of-the-road music. I think it would be safe to play Carole King recordings for three hours a day.
Another good one, Stevie Wonders' "Secret Life Of Plants". It seems blind people hear things sighted people do not and this album picks up on plant, tree and insect sounds. It was the soundtrack for a movie about plants.

Gosh, Phoeb, several of my dendrobiums are really happily budding and blooming so I'd say, classical or jazz!
Winter, be sure to connect us to that blog entry!
My plants seem to like books on tape, since they are all in my studio windows and those are what I listen to when working. Music sometimes too....
I've heard the human voice is as good as music.
Our few plants get the Boston classical station, like it or not. Maybe they are relaxing after hearing sports from the TV.
Mine seem to prefer the Chopin Waltzes. Can't say they are "leaning" towards the piano, however, in the way certain plants leaned towards the speakers in Dorothy Retellak's experiments.
Mine like primal screaming.
Like the sound you make when you find the cats in your clean laundry, or eating your best blooming houseplant? Or when the cat gets into the dryer and you don't find out until it's been turned on?
Wow - haven't done that yet! At least the cat did not have static cling.
Gasp! Fluff cycle?
I think my singing works cuz my voice is so bad the plants are laughing too hard to die.
My cat used to think that the best place to take a nap was in the middle of the current painting in progress. She also used to like to drink my paint water (yecch). She would frequently walk right across the wet paint, across the table and on to the windowsill. I think there are paint footprints still there even after she's been gone 8 months.....
Never did try the dryer though...
A friends kitten was caught in her dryer (really!) She heard thumps & went and found it. She said that she never saw a kitten drink so much water.
If that happened to the crazy ole cat I'd have to open the door and run real fast or I'd be a shreddie :O
tamberlin--maybe your cat was an artist in a previous life--I have no explanation for the dryercats--maybe Evil Kinevil?
A small group of us from MA forum went to Longwood Gardens on Sunday, Here's a link to the thread if anyone is interested. Ric
