Has anyone here grown Adenium from seed?

Fife, United Kingdom

Hi folks. I just bought a few packets of Adenium seeds on eBay and have planted a few today. The instructions were a bit vague, just to sow seeds at 1cm depth and keep at 75º-85º until germination occurs in a few days. Does this sound right? What if the temperature is a bit lower, will they just take longer to germinate or fail altogether? Should they be kept in the dark or in the light? Will they even grow at all at this time of the year? So many questions, so little knowledge, lol.

I'm gtting ready to start some from seed too, soon as they arrive. It seems pretty simple. Just needs heat and loose soil.

Thanks for the links. I'll move mine to a brighter position. Just got to keep 'em warm enough. Time to buy a heated propagator, methinks.

For the moment it's sitting on a radiatior (not a very hot one) with a folded tea towel underneath to stop it getting too hot! It'll need to do until I get around to buying a propagator.

To me, that would be my propagator then, lol. I like to be creative and save the money to get more plants, lol.

I don't think I've got enough radiators to cope with all the seeds I've been buying on eBay, lol.

Hmmm.... how about stackable propagation trays. Heat rises, this may work. Plus they are only seedlings for a while, then they move on. Onto bigger and better things, like all your windowsills, then lighted growing stands, then a greenhouse in your yard, then.... Well, that's as far as I can think.....

mmm...until my plants start helping out with my mortgage repayments I'm NOT prepared to let them completely take over the house. Funnily enough, though, I live in an old Victorian building which has been converted into 3 apartments (me upstairs and two downstairs neighbours) but before the conversion it was the home of the head gardener of the nursery which provided plants for the local lord's private estate. My garden and all the surrounding houses stand on the site of the actual nursery, so maybe I'm being possessed by the spirits of all the plants who are trying to reclaim their land?

If I were to be touched by a spirit, a plant spirit suits me fine. They can help with the mortgage if you have a nice garden to feed you from summer on. Well, help with your grocery bill, anyway :).
