Hey Lynnie, just popping in and out. Hope you have a good day!

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh moon ...do you think you could buzz over here and take apart the sewer drain before I have to convince DH that he flushed the cleaning rag with the mop water.

He knows he broke the shower actually he blamed it on GS Dillon because he is always in trouble for playing with the doors. He thinks its a good place to hide.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Sounds like he'll get the message really soon....and he sure won't be happy about it....grin Sure, lemme get my tool box...may take a bit as the colder it gets, the slower I go...LOL

Poor Dillon...at least he is too tiny and cute to get yelled at....(much) grin

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Hey JJ, don't ya love it when they swing on the doors while smileing at ya with toothless grins? Hope ya get your rag back, those things aren't cheap lol Mine like to hide in the can food cabinet, just listen for the snickers to find them.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Guess I'll give him a hint as I'm leaving to go out to check on the friends.

Dillon doesn't get hollered at enough to make him stop doing it every time he comes. LOL

Time to head out
Catch you later

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Well I didn't get far. Went round and round she goes where he stops only the ditch knows.
DH out in the truck plowing snow, think he has cell phone on....

Lot of good the four wheel drive did sat an spun on wet snowy grass.
Construction truck came by and pulled me out.
Told DH needed new tires but he said thy're not that bad well he has a choice now.. new tires or new car.
Never been in ditch with that car the 8 years I've owned it and don't intend on being in another.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

shoot for the car, JJ. Settle for the tires. Yes, we are glad you're ok.

I spun out in my mom's car long ago, it had bald tires, on the thruway and started hydroplaning. I smashed it up good for her, it was a lemon anyways.

I am always cold, Trina. I have an Irish fisherman's sweater on today. One of those QVC specials my MIL found.

Back to the grind.. catch you all later.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

LOL Moon... FlowerBucks, I'd go there...

She could design a new building for it so it can have lotsa corners.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

A duodecahedron....20 sides.... Flowerbucks corner club....grin

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

that tornado in 1975, my hubby was almost 6 it took out 5 citiy blocks where his mother's House and his Dad's original Auto shop were....it says killed 2 but they had 100's injured...his dad has pictures of the lift he had through someone's house 11 blocks away...from what I understand it was alot more devastating to the area than that wikipedia thing says

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

LOL Moon...she can name each orner after one of us...LOL

The bits of history included are what make the town links so interesting

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Hi everyone,hope you're all having a good day so far,
Moon ,thankyou firstly for the lovely photo of the little? green lizard in your Orchid,he/she's really cute,wish they lived here :}
I'll try to memorize the time zone info ,but it may take a little time Lol
The Wikepedia link for your town is very interesting,I'd heard of Baton Rouge,but now i know you're near there and your town's very similar in size to mine :}
With all the rain you seem to be having,yes,you'll need your Pirogue to go to the shops :}The website for the Pirogue builder was really interesting,thanks.i love to learn about life in different places and find anything anyone sends about their part of the world fascinating to read.I'd heard of Bayous too from watching nature/geography programmes on TV,but 1st hand details are much ,much better.
Flowers,the N.Carolina web link was interesting to read too,thanks,I appreciate it all,I really do.
Please ask me if there's anything you'd like to know about UK and I'll do my best to tell you.I admit I'm fairly new to computers myself,actually,but my DH will know where to look for info for you :}
JJ,I'm glad you liked the photo I sent,i've never lived anywhere flat,you can't walk for 10 mins around here without a hill to climb,but at least it keeps us fit :}
Smiley,I'll send you a selection of pictures and you can rotate them on your windows as the seasons change:}
Moon,did you say wet ,stormy weather's heading for this island???at least it never flunds close to me cos it's too hilly!!
I'll be back later,
Joy

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

JJ glad you are ok, not much you can do on ice but enjoy the spin lol. Hope your car is ok too. Joy will post on your link a little later as I'm running back to kitchen

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Here is a link to Dronfield for everyone

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dronfield

I was telling Flowers that this storm was marching across the US and headed toward the Atlantic, said I wondered if it was going to wind up in the UK....doubt it would hold together crossing the ocean....grin

Here is a compendium of Louisiana life/history. We are a unique state as we are a blend of French, Spanish and American with language, architecture custom and cuisine not found anywhere else in the US.

http://www.answers.com/topic/louisiana

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

OOPs, great minds, Joy....grin This is cool. We get history, geography and sociology all together....with a dusting of agriculture and economics....grin

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

OK, caught up I think in time for bed again.......
Now lets talk about dusting Jean.
But this is the beginning for us.
Weather men are reporting a bad snow storm here starting tonight and into tomorrow.
Lucky me, I still have to go to the house that is almost 30 miles away tonight.....sigh.

The report that came over this morning called for 8 to 12 inches of snow and blowing and drifting. They said the worst of it should hit after midnight.
Like I said, this is just a picture of the start of it!
I guess I may have to take my camera to work with me tonight.

Keep those sunny pictures coming dave ;-)

Leicester, NC(Zone 8a)

Kassy don't try to drive in that, if BF can't take ya then get a motel near work and stay hunkered down until it melts since you are gonna have to be there many more days anyway. I would tell Employer if they wanted me there they will pay for a room. Its not worth a bad accident to chance it. Back later, stuff goin on.

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

JJ, I am at home now and tonight is my last night driving.

From what it said, the worst of it should start after midnight.....
I hope the weather men are right for a change! Because by midnight I will be hunkered down at work.
I just leave real early and go real slow in snow storms.
I wish I had kept track of how many cars and trucks I saw in the ditches last year. I think the most on one ride home was 9.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Hi all! Just stopping in for a minute. Everyone needs to be careful on icey roads, especially look out for the crazy drivers! Yesterday there was bad ice on one of the major highways from Indy to Chicago. There were many accidents and had to close off that part of the road.

I lived in Madison WI for a few years and I know Kassy you are quite a bit further north than that. WI is accustomed to snow and they really get to it right away. They clear and de-ice the roads even better than down here. I just bet Kassy will have pretty good roads on the way home unless there is some strong wind. We are to get some strong wind tomorrow with a little icey rain and snow.

I will have to go back and read all your posts later. Need to eat my soup now.

Sorry about your accident JJ and glad you are ok.

Take care everyone and be well!!

Marinette, WI(Zone 4b)

Hey venice, they were salting the roads already when I was coming home.

Venice, be glad you left Madison. Last year they got more snow then us, and then had flood warnings in the spring.....
I'll stay farther north, we didn't get as much.

A little snow info on Wisconsin. This was last year.......
.GREEN BAY, WI
Green Bay has received 84.2 inches of snow so far this winter season (as of March 15th). That amount places this winter as the 4th snowiest since Green Bay weather records began in the late 1880s. Here is a list of the top five snowiest winters:
Rank
Amount
(Inches)
Season

1
147.7
1887-88

2
103.6
1889-90

3
87.4
2007-08

4
84.2
2008-09

5
82.7
1886-87

BF is farther north then me, and he usually gets less snow then we get.
It was pretty bad one year when the TV crew from Green bay had to come out to Pulaski to Film the first big snow fall. 16 miles apart and Green bay didn't get it!

(Zone 5b)

glad you're ok JJ...
I have to go to work in bad weather, too. Just like Kassy said, leave early, go real slow.
I don't think we're getting much from the storm, just a little wintry mix.
Flowers you had to talk abotu pierogis, gave me a craving for pasta so I had some raviolis...I don't eat much carbs now I want a nap lol

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Hi again,Moon,the link for Louisiana history/life is really interesting,I knew of the French heritage ,but not that it became french as early as 1682.The Spanish influence I'm ashamed to say I didn't know about.The short video feature of the parks ,showed it to be a lovely area.I'm going to look at it all again,make sure I didn't miss anything,it's far more interesting than watching TV:}
Kassy,take care in the snow.I'm glad to hear it's your last night for needing to drive.
JJ,glad you're ok after your accident,look after youself:}
Trina,if you've been to Sheffield,then you've been to the nearest city to my home,only 6 miles away from Dronfield ,going north.At Donnington,were you there for a music festival?,as there's a big venue for music events there.Also a car racetrack??.It's near the City of Nottingham ,which is 45 minutes away from Dronfield by train,going south.Hope you liked them both:}
Anyway,i must go for now,unfortunately I've some ironing that no one seems to want to do:}and it's 8.30,already so must get on.
Thanks for all interesting links and info,it's been great.
Everyone have a good remainder of today,and look after yourselves,snow or not.
Talk again tomorrow
Joy

Dronfield, United Kingdom

Kassy,just before I go,that snow fall record's amazing,at least it is to me,nowhere in UK has anything to compare to that.
Have a good night at work,take care
Joy

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the concern everyone. Nothing hurt but my pride...grin
DH took me out to the friends so they are taken care of.

I have drove on roads way worse than this one was and I was going slow so it was crazy to end up in the ditch..has to be the tires.
Thursday they are having buy 3 tires get one free and my car will be first in line.

Kassy you be really careful on that bridge. No way would I cross that thing with snow and ice.

Kids got out of school early so better see what is going on its too quite.
Will check out all these links in a bit

Not even 3 oclock yet and I have managed to flush the rag, break the pump on the lotion bottle and end up in a ditch.
