Coffee Break #25 - First snow of the year

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

lol!

South Hamilton, MA

On a better note Iris Society of Mass (ISM) has a website up. www.massirises.org.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

To me, that IS more interesting.

If your Tiger, Britney, or Paris it matters. If it was us, it would matter more as we would sit behind bars.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i say what maria said - i think

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Okay - let's talk about the Cowboys. Hee hee.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

painful discussion - rather talk about the pat's:)

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Wah, this old lady knows when to stop and think and say nothing.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i gathered that maria:) - i'm still in the learning process from time to time.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

half way through the SI sportsman of the year article on Jeter - can't wait till the NY lovefest ends - looks like he was named after a great boston bruin - full name Derek Sanderson Jeter - his name sake took care of all the tabloid superstar antics.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yes, I vote to stop yakking on about the tabloid "news".

Got snow here too. My southern friends have chastized me for not going out in it to play. It's so cozy inside, I just can't bear to part with the comforter.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not enough to play in.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yeah. Sure. That's a good answer.

I think I want one each of every single one of the books in those two links you posted Victor. I drooled all over the screen. Nice!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

The washer repairman is HERE!!! It's been two weeks! Oh, I rely so heavily on modern conveniences, it's pathetic.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I ordered a few myself.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I'm not surprised. More like envious. I did order a book recently, it's called Mastering Composition. Brilliant. I recommend it for those of us who are still struggling with finding quality compositions, especially in photography, even though it's about oil painting, the premise is universal.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Which books did you get, Victor?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I ordered one on macro garden photography, one on infrared, one on nature. Forgot which else.

Things happen in life and you have to live with it. Example - a guy asked Jim to take away some junk metal. He did and there was the most crappy looking bike you can put breath to. Jim said "Put it on ebay and the seat might sell for a couple of dollars". I put it on last Friday. It now has 53 watchers and is $202.50. This bike was headed for the recycling center. Good Grief. Sitting here shaking my pee brain head. What people wont buy.

That's a very unique bicycle frame!

(Macros, composition, exposure, and the science of lighting, here for photo books)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - that's a lot of money. Just finished a good one on exposure. I recommend Joe McNalley's two books - The Moment it Clicks and Hot Shoe Diaries. Fun to read.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

I'm still reading 'Digital Photography for Dummies'...Thank you very much! sigh...

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Thanks, I'll check em out!

- 'Light: Science & Magic' by Fil Hunter, Steven Biver, Paul Fuqua
- 'Master Lighting Guide' by Christopher Grey: are good ones I've found.

(lol phoebesviolets)

At the Kennedy Center awards last night, Obama said he went to see Blazing Saddles when he was 10. When I heard this on the radio this morning, it did not sound right. I checked. He was born in 1961 and Blazing Saddles came out in 1974. Hmm. DC math again?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

... maybe around the same time Mrs Clinton was ducking bullets at the airfield.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

That's awesome Sherrie, you know what they say.... one man's junk....

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Cool bike..people will pay good money for nostalgia!

Baking today. It smells so Christmasy!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Finished decorating the house yesterday. I'll get the tree at the end of the week.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Thanks for the link to the ISM site irisMA. How wonderful that you can access so much of the site without a membership. I put it in my favorites.

The Bike - Bikes are not my forte'. I have been bombarded with questions and people putting their 2 cents in. It is a Monark Silver King. Thats what the logo reads. Then people tell me it is a 1935-1936 Flow Cycle - very rare. Good grief. Here is the link. I cant put www. or it wont show up. The most pitiful ebay description you can find. OH and pictures!

Very nice, worth over 4x that much restored...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Any unicycles??

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I would like a metalic red trike with really long streamers flowing from the handlebar gripes AND glitterly cards that flutter in the spokes when you pedal really fast. I believe it's called a flyer. It has a little platform at the back so that a buddy can stand on. I would pay alot for that! Something like this but with a bigger front wheel and without the loser push stick http://www.pedalcarstation.com/radio-flyer-retro-tricycle.htm

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not going to comment on Cheetah, other than to say I just saw the count is up to 10. Should we start a pool to predict the final number?

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Well that is funky weird Victor. I guess it is a trike cuz it has three wheels but it looks like a bike gone bad.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You can get chains for the Calgary 9-month winter.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)
