First real snow today. Starting to stick. Yuck! On an optimistic note, the days will start getting longer in about two weeks! Yay!
Coffee Break #25 - First snow of the year
Another day, another Tiger woman coming forward. How did he squeeze golf in???
No kidding. :-D His feats on the golf course are sounding more and more amazing. Clearly he wasn't practicing ALL the time between tournaments.
Their airing the Jaycee Dugard story on TLC. None of it makes sense. The father saw the kidnapping and didnt get a licence #. The kidnapper was let free from prison for the same crimes previously. The wife of the kidnapper went along with it for 18 years????? What kind of monsters are these?
General Mill wont put his face on Cheerios anymore!
Why not? He's a 'serial' cheater!
groan
Hey, you're right! I never thought of that! lol!
Are you going to miss gazing at his face in the morning :-)
Jen, don't groan too loud. He might show up at your door.
Actually this is really just another very sad story about people who have archived so much in their lives. It makes no differences whether they are athletes, politicians, or performers. Sooner or later they fall of the pedestal many of us have put them there by because of their moral standards.
snl did a pretty funny skit on the tiger affair last night
Which one?
?
Which affair?!!
funny
Now it's six women and counting. My only question is why did he marry?? He could have stayed single and had all the women he wanted - like Jeter has chosen to do. What is the purpose of marrying someone you obviously don't love and humiliating her and messing up the kids' lives? I don't get it.
It's nasty & I feel none of our business.
Exactly Victor, If you're going to sleep around anyway, why get married? Esp screwing up the kids' lives?
They make it our business when it's in the top news on line and on the front page of every news publication.
It is the public's business when you're a public figure who is looked up to as a role model. He embraces that image aggressively and has made millions in endorsements because of it. He does not get these deals just because he is a great player. How many endorsements does Manny Ramirez get? Or Dennis Rodman? He is another hypocrite who needs to be exposed, just like the idiot governor in SC. At least there his own party is throwing him out.

I think it's a power thing, no matter what they have they are still frustrated. They dream of having everything when they first start out, but there is always someone who has more. They're never satisfied. Satisfaction comes from within, but in the world they live in that point gets lost. So they gamble, they cheat, they live double lives. - and it still doesn't make them happy. To make matters worse the fame they longed for now isolates them.
That may be partly true, but the responsibility lies within. Too often, the fame is the crutch. Those personality deficits were there before he was famous. Not every great player or celebrity acts this way! Most who do would have done so even if they were nobody. There are plenty of nobodies who act the same way.

I think it messes with your brain to be so successful and have so many around you telling you how wonderful you are. We all need to be reminded of our feet of clay more regularly, but some of these people get to a point where they don't have that anymore. People latch on to them because the Tiger Woods's are money makers for those around them and then they stroke the celebrity in the hopes that they'll be able to collect, as well. So these egos just get way out of control.
They do---it's not a 'normal' world for these people---too much money, too many material goods, too much adoration. I congratulate those who can stand above it all, but there are not many.
As I said before - there is an element of that. But that makes them out to be the victim! They know the pitfalls going in - especially today, where superstardom has been around for a while. They love the fame, money and celebrity - but on their terms. That argument holds much more water when it's the case of someone coming from poverty and thrust into the spotlight. Not the case with Tiger.
I'm with you victor - these people are not victims. I just think that they don't take seriously the pitfalls of fame. They all think it won't happen to them, and then it does, and then they want our sympathy . . .
Some books to consider for gifts?

Sorry to talk sports ladies, but it's amazing that the Colts and Saints are still unbeaten!
- Both great photo resources by the way!
I'm tired of Tiger. Not excusing what he did to his wife & kids. But, why are we so curious?
I'm not, but how do we escape?
In a way it is just too bad we cannot discuss more important problems we all face at this point than Tiger's behavior.
True, Maria, but most of them would probably violate DG's rules!
I don't notice any cutting back in people's decorations so far this year.
I know the media won't grow up. If we stop clicking, reading & watching, maybe they will stop. We have sunk to the level of the National Enquirer in our traditional media.
Ha! Not happening, Dave.
You mean that we STOP clicking on all the lurid stories is not happening, right?
No - it will continue to be reported. I am not clicking on any of them at this point. I just see the new headline and new mistress number.
