Another flyover .....
Bald Eagle - Our National Symbol - Vol. #5
Awesome Linth! While they are all great photos, the one from a distance begs to be painted. The background is beautiful. That gold tree is an incredible accent to the eagles. Oh how I wish I could paint.... It's hard to believe the distance you were away from the scene.
That one from 2,500' looks like a painting. Gorgeous, Linth.
Heck of a shot for nearly half mile away. Great Shots Linth!
Awesome as always Linth! Thanks so much for sharing your slideshow Janet! Are you both ok if I put a link to this show on a couple of other DG Forums? This is way too good not to share!
Great shots Linth!
I don't mind Dahlianut. I feel the same way about these photos. Way too good not to share.
edited to add: Couldn't help but add that "painting" to the beginning. :-)

I don't mind either, dahlianut. Go for it ...... I am just glad to see others enjoy my photos.
"It's getting to look a lot like Christmas" here in northern Maryland, today. Tomorrow is supposed to be clear and cold. Brrrr !!! Have to get out the hand and toe warmers. They do work !!!
Here is a juvenile Bald Eagle flying against the blue sky. Last week, I heard a few guys shouting, "Golden Eagle", but it was a false alarm. When I got home, I check the whereabouts of two Golden Eagles (equipped with GPS transmitter) that visit us during the winter but they were still a few hundred miles to the north.
Another off in the distance shot. I can count at least six Bald Eagles. There are a few Black Vultures sitting in the foreground. The adults are little white dots to the naked eye and I can't see the juveniles at all with the naked eye.
And, again you can see those little pools of water that will eventually trap the fish and become easy prey for the eagle.
Nice shots Linth!!
Where do you get the warmers for toes, hands etc.?
Thanks, pelle. I actually buy them by the case. Before I leave the house at 6:30 a.m. to photograph the Bald Eagles, I cut the pack open. When I get to my spot, I put one hand warmer inside of each glove, a glove that has the finger cut back. When I'm not shooting, I just pull my fingers back into the glove until I get some action. When I arrive back home at 3:30 p.m. the hand warmers are still warm. They last a long time.
I think I saw them by the case just recently at Costco. Bass Pro Shop sells them individually if you want to just experiment with them. Walmart may carry them ??? But, here is also a link to Amazon.

Awesome seems to fit all your photos Linth! Wow is another one I'd use.
Costco has them by the case - they're great for gardening, too.
Linthicum, these photos just give me chills. For some reason #7029 really captures (for me) the speed and motion of a bird in flight.
Linth, Thanks for the info. Thought you might like to see these recent photos that someone captured of an adult Bald Eagle getting a Green-winged Teal at Brigantine.

Pelle, that's a beautiful photo, until you see the poor duck.
LOL, yes I know duc, That is the first photo I've ever seen where one had a duck.
Not always fish on the menu, Ive heard Tundra Swan is a favorite also, YouTube has some pictures of a Bald Eagle trying to get a T.Swan. The size comparison between the Teal and the Eagle is impressive.
During the winter months a large flock of Tundra Swans are usually sitting along Egypt Road near Cambridge, MD. On my way home from a trip to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge one late afternoon, this Bald Eagle had just taken down a Tundra Swan. I stopped my car, turned down the window and took quite a few photos, some of which I won't show. The large flock of Tundras was on the other side of the road.
I have also photographed them with a fresh killed Canada Goose and several times at the remains of a dead deer.
I thought you posted something to the sort before, I must have forgotten. I guess they knock the Swan's out of the sky and then finish the job on the ground. Swan's weight when they hit the ground is probably enough.
I would imagine that a Swan is a decent size meal for them.
I'm surprised the eagle didn't go after the heron for a meal. Maybe it just wasn't hungry yet.
Great photos Linth, especially that one where it's trying to pull the goose up from the water.
duc, I've seen Great Blue Herons walk over and try to take some of the fish from the eagle. There are so many Great Blue Herons there that for the most part they live in harmony. And, they have plenty of fish, pigeons, gulls, etc to feast on before taking on the herons.
And speaking of harmony, the Black Vultures also sit among the eagles. Here is a photo I took last week at the annual
Black Vulture convention.
