I have a sweet olive that is now about 8 feet tall. It is getting thin and seems to need prunning to thicken it. Is it ok to top it? If so, how much can I cut off the top without hurting the plant? Is there anything I need to know about prunning it down to the desired size so to keep from hurting it-or killing it?
Prunning sweet olive
Here is a bit of info for you. You do need to remember that sweet olives bloom on old wood. heavy pruning will result in thicker new foliage, but fewer flowers the first year after pruning.
