And the bad boy behavior continues...we left him at home for the first time, in his crate, so we could go out to dinner - I had this nagging feeling in the back of my mind, but, decided not much I could do about it and enjoyed my dinner - came home and could hear him upstairs, I walked in the bedroom and who was NOT in his crate...a very happy to see me, Samson...he had tore the back of the crate off, managed to squeeze his way out and was happily eating stuff in the bedroom, from books to my nightstand! We'll try this one more time, but will reinforce the crate with tie-straps - if that doesn't work we'll have to go searching for a sturdier crate ^_^ Ahhhh, the joys of puppyhood!
The Hart-cure...
It's back to the drawing board for that pup's mommy!
Hide your Jimmy Choos and designer pocketbooks!!
You need to get some D.A.P , some large size chews and toys and some tranquilizers for you not the dog. LOL
I just went out and get some frozen soap bones and other chews.
Sandy
LOL - if I had Choos I would - the very first thing I did when he came was lock up all footwear - we just ordered a vari-kennel!
OH
MY
GAWD
yup I can just imagine his glee on showing you how clever he was getting out of the crate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And where do you find real cow bones big enough for that maw??? I have to scour the shelves for soup bones big enough for Addy. I find the Asian market has a better stock of soup bones usually. And she only chews them a day or three till they are clean and dry. Guess I need to stuff with PB after that...
Is there a real butcher shop near you anywhere? I know there used to be one in the little shopping center where KMart is in Sudley. They'll save bones for you and could probably come up with big ones. The one in Edinburg will give you a big bag of frozen bones for free but the ones they give me are small.
However, Walmart has huge real bones in the pet section, the kind that are baked or whatever they do to make them safe. I do mean huge. Just like the big one here but Walmart is cheaper.

Milo was born on November 17, 13 years ago.
I was just walking, for the second time around the animal shelter, looking and talking to all the animals. I was on my way out. As I'm leaving, in walks this lady, with Milo, an English Springer Spaniel, all brown and white, freshly groomed, bathed, brushed and fluffed.
We'll skip the reasons the lady, after talking with me, helped me cajole Milo into our vehicle, that day.
Before long, he was grabbing gloves or shoes, chewing on them a bit, then running out the dog door, down to the pool, and standing there, staring at the door, waiting for me to appear. Soon seeing me, he'd cock his head away from the pool and with one toss of those big ears, into the pool, whatever he had nabbed, went.
Milo died today. Today we buried him with Billie, ( the Brit.) Billie, the sweet girl, that she was, ever the faithful companion and love interest of Milo's, died two years ago, this December. It was only right we wait, to bury Billie, with Milo. Now, Milo and Billie are together, buried in Milo's favorite spot under, "his" tree.
Oh jfleming, so sorry to hear this. Well, be comforted that these two lovers are once again together and try to remember how happy they were together.
jfleming so sorry for your lose.

I'm so sorry to read this - the loss of a beloved pet is the hardest thing ever...we're still mourning Izzy
When we decided to get a new dog we knew we couldn't get another Shepard, he/she would fail in comparison to Izzy and it wouldn't have been fair to the dog - getting Samson has made the loss so much easier to handle and while he's no Izzy he reminds us every day of our Bailey, a knuckle headed Lab mix that kept us on our toes every day with his destructive behavior and 150% love and affection
He had an exiting day yesterday, we went to MD to visit some friends and have dinner - he was cordially invited to come with and we were all nervous about what he'd do - he was a complete gentleman, very kind to their Abby and behaved like an angel!
Is it funny how those bad boys will behave when visiting. Andre is always on his good behavior when he is visiting-most people can not believe how bad his is. LOL
So sorry jfleming, {{{hugs}}} coming your way.
I'm so sorry about Milo, Jfleming. He was a beautiful dog and I know you're missing him horribly today.
I hope you'll get yourself to the shelter soon for a dose of the Hart Cure. It really does help. (Except I think often of how much Jello would have loved having Bandit as a playmate.) The new puppy will never replace Milo or Billie in your heart. He or she will make a new place in it for themselves and somehow that makes it hurt a little less.
My condolences
Sorry for your loss.
Thank you. All of you are so kind. I swear, I've attempted to do many things to make this all better...christmas tree lights, and all the ornamnets, cooking, eating chocolate chips right out of the bag, cleaning, and I do mean real cleaning like the filter elements inside my range hood, over my stove. The one thing that brightened my day and made me smile was coming to the threads in Mid Atlantic. After reading the threads I ended up watering all my garden boxes and the, way too many outdoor plants, I've stuffed into my guest house, for the winter. Even in the rainy cold of today, like a magnet I'm pulled to the winter garden beds outside, amazed at it's stark beauty. Tomorrow, if it's not raining I'll decorate the small tree we've place at Milo and Billie's grave and around the bench that marks Poot's grave.
Oh, I'm so sorry you lost your Milo. *HUGS* Don't you wonder what kind of mischief he and Billie are getting into now that they're together again? All pets are special, of course, but some of them really have your heart.
Oh my jfleming, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. What wonderful dogs English Springers are. My very first dog was an Springer and my Mom and I still talk (after almost 50 yrs.) about what a great dog our Tammy was.
Mile looks like a sweet dog I used to stop and pet when I walked home from school as a kid. I trust you had mich nicer weather today, like we did, to do your decorating and thinking in.
