Tropical Garden # 57

Hymenocallis littoralis, Spider Lily. Used a lot in mass plantings along the middle of roads. Mine is a little more humble effort.

Star Jasmine. Not a mass bloomer like some other Jasmines, but the other Jasmines won't grow here.

This Philodendron is flowering, but I haven't got a tall enough ladder to get close up photos of them. If you look hard you might see them.

My duranta has been NON-STOP. Anyone tell me best way to root cuttings of it?

noonamah, Australia

This Pothos isn't flowering but it's got nice coloured leaves. And it likes high places. Be interesting to see if it gets to the very top of these trees, they're over 20 metres high.

I've never tried Duranta cuttings, probably some other here have.

Most people are familiar with Garcinia mangostana, Mangosteen. These are the new leaves of the related Garcinia warrenii, a native here. Mine is still small but it's growing faster than my Mangosteens.

Chamaedorea seifrizii, Bamboo Palm, is enjoying its shady little nook. I've got about 5 of them (clumps) but this is the tallest. One got some sort of stem borer in it. So I cut it off and put it in the freezer, thought the little beggar ....... um, borer might like to chill out for a while.

The Carpies, Carpentaria acuminata, are loaded with their colourful red fruits. By day the Imperial Torresian Pigeons are there getting their fill. The squabbling Flying Foxes are on the night shift, dividing their time between the Carpy fruit and the Mangos.

I feel like I'm looking at my garden Tropicbreeze! Nice!
I've done Duranta cuttings..they take just fine. I don't do them often though as the plants are prolific growers..they grow in to small trees here.

Grandview, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks tj. I was hoping mine would do that, but it has died back to the ground every year. It is prolific though as it always grows to about 8 ft every year. And LOADS of flowers Oh my.

tropicbreeze, I always enjoy lurking in here to see your photos, they're beautiful. Thank you

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I love them. they put up with my silly questions.
They have some beautiful flowers and they share them with us.
Thank you
Charleen

Tropicbreeze, I enjoyed all of your pictures, the Heliconias are very pretty. We don't have to worry about them being invasive here in Texas. I will be happy if they return after the winter.
I would like to explore your property, not with a shovel but with a camera.

Hello everyone.
I bought this Croton thinking it was a Picasso's paintbrush, but I found a tag saying that it was a Croton Charl. I googled it without any results. Does anyone have this plant?

Rita, I'd say definitely not PP. PP looks like the one in your basket but leaves are much finer, almost as thin as monkey grass. I had it planted inground, survived 1st winter but not the 2nd. wahhhh. Have not tried to replace but I will at some point.

Candela, your fern does look like Angiopteris evecta, King Fern. It gets very long fronds, but the trunk doesn't get as tall as tree ferns.

Candela, I bet you shopped with the Rees. I have that anthurium, which is huge now; and 'evectra' also and can't wait until it looks like their speciman plant, which is absolutely gorgeous. I got mine a couple of months ago and it seems to grow rather fast. Enjoy! Hope you signed up for their email and they have wonderful sales. You'll fall in love with their place!
