Tropical Garden # 57

Debra, thank you. You have beautiful plants as well and I will look forward to a start from your Begonia. I have started you one from mine as well. Please share another picture soon of your Alocasia Cuprea.

Rita, Gorgeous picture's and thank's for the head's up on waiting until after Thanksgiving to purchase that C. cactus. I will have to take the truck because this time of year our Lowe's mark's tropical's down to a couple of dollar's;-)

Beautiful collage pensacolagarden. I really enjoy sunflower's.

R.J. Thank's for adding a new picture of your tree fern. It gave me another "fix";-0 and I also enjoyed seeing that Syngonium floating in that pond too.

Not my water fixture pond but I love them.

Ridesredmule, that is my favorite spring flower, It might be a re-bloomer. I am planning on ordering a few more re-blooming Irises this fall.

Sunshinesw, It was just wishful thinking on my part!!! I am sure my baby bromeliad will be just as lovely.

Rj, that picture would have been a winner if you had entered it in the photo contest.

Pensacolagarden. good job on your first collage. I wish that I could do that. I have tried several times.

Joeswife, that plant is King's Mantle 'Thunbergia Erecta'. It blooms from early spring into the late fall. (it is a keeper)

RachelLF, I had a big grin on my face after reading the part about taking a truck to Lowe's. I took a U-Haul once on a plant shopping trip.

Have you girls had any luck growing a Begonia called Bonfire?

When my bromalaid blooms I will show it to you. My dogs like to chew on it but I have a couple pups on it . It is a bilgergia pyramdalis (?)
Will be glad when it blooms. Supposed to be a red bloom. My cousin gave it to me last year. It is a pretty plant.

I've been harvesting Papayas too. I've been having to fight the possums though. A couple of them have developed a taste for them.

Clerodendrum Minahasse is blooming very late this year.

Rj, those are some great pictures,my favorite is the one of David, with the sun highlighting the Tri-colord plant.
Waht are you going to do with all those papayas?

Ths is a goldfish plant showing a few blooms, maybe in a few weeks we will have a good catch.

Rita, that is a super nice A. Grandis plant and you made me smile real big about the "U-Haul". I can visualize myself doing that as well. I have never tried growing a B. Bonfire, but it's a pretty one.

R.J. I enjoyed viewing the picture's on your latest Chronical's blog and that cat look's so peaceful sleeping on that roof.

Ridesredmule, please do post a picture of your bromeliad when it bloom's. I tried a couple of Brom's several year's ago and never had much luck with them so I gave up on those plant's. Here is a picture of an "African Mask" plant for you.

LOL, yes kitty cat was following me along the roof line trying to butter me up for something tastier than crunchy food from a bag.
Rita, I share half of the Papayas with the possums. I've noticed something this year, they are not producing seeds, especially the big tree- They were hybridized not to, so it was surprising that the younger trees did- I'm thinking it has something to do with maturity level. I just snacked on a papaya..they are so rich and sweet, no wonder the possums like them.

Talking about bromeliads, my pineapples are coming on quite well.

Almost forgot. My only Spathiphyllum is flowering. It's a very large growing variety, but I don't know its name.

RachelLF, It seems as if you found the secret to keeping the African Mask alive. I have no luck with them or the Begonia Bonfire. I think watering too much is my problem. This winter I will water very sparingly.

Tropicbreeze, I love your pineapple picture, you seem to have quite a few growing there It is strange that animals don't eat them. I always had to cover the fruit with a burlap sack.
I read where the Spathiphyllum Sensation can grow up to 5' tall and wide. That bloom sure is elegant.

Rj, The fruits from your Papaya tree is the best Papayas I have ever tasted. My last two fruits were full of seeds, but my plants are only about 2 yrs old. After reading your post, I will treasure these seeds.

Happy Thanksgiving. We don't have it here but there's no reason I can't wish everyone all the best for it.

My Spathiphyllum flower opened right out today.

This ginger is in an unfortunate position - under a few tall coconuts. These aren't producing nuts, but they are dropping massive fronds which more than makes up for it. Every now and then the gingers receive a crushing blow, but grow back fairly quickly.

Tropicbreeze, those are beautiful Thanks for the pic.

Getting a few Psittacorum heliconias blooming now. I like them, but they're quite invasive and difficult to confine.
