Last one, Velvet ear kalancho. Looks like it might getting ready to flower, I've never seen flower on this plant or any other ones.

At the Botanical Gardens I just noticed flower buds on the Velvet Ear Kalanchoe too! First time I ever saw them.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Sunshine great blooms you are showing, ,love them. really like the Acerola hibiscus, is it a tropical? I liked the plummies and gingers too..
Rita.. the peach bloom was pale compared to the cutie in the picture frame beside it.. what a lil dollie!

Cape Coral, FL(Zone 10a)

Dutchlady, I am looking forward to see the flowers on VE kalancho.
I am very curious.
Joeswife, thanks! I am not sure if it's tropicals but they grow like crazy down here.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I loved them all. The coleus is a pretty pic too.
Pretty pastel colors.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Sunshine if they throw seeds plz save some for me. Good Luck on keeping track of seeds.. I have seeds everywhere and you can't walk anywhere without stepping on some in here.. LOL I am going to try the perilla with coleus next spring. That is a great idea, my cuttings are all going good, I think the red perilla will look good with the limelight coleus.
even after the freeze the marigolds I have around are still lighting up the place..

Those are healthy little marigolds.
I have some with red centers. Marigolds
are nice plants.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

yes I have a marigold collection, not a tropical, but I do love them so. especially the Giant african ones and the fern leaf ones. I have the red centers also.. and a mostly red, and tri colour,, welll I could go on and on LOL

Repeating this one, had it on the last thread without name. Its Pistia stratiotes, Water Lettuce. Considered a weed of waterways in many places but it's native here. Few people realise it's an aroid. Good for filtering pond water and then makes good mulch for the garden. I could do the same with Water Hyacinth but that is a declared noxious weed here.

Thumbnail by tropicbreeze
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

so, this grows in water then? is that what an aroid is?

noonamah, Australia

Vincas are very reliable, they just keep on going. Had them when I bought the place and they've thrived on neglect. Last year I got some other colours but this year they're all back to the same original colour. Don't know whether they revert to this colour or whether the other colours weren't so resilient and died off.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

excellant photo of that vinca.. i have never grown them.. everyone else does here.. but they are usually white or blue? is your vinca the major or the viney one?

noonamah, Australia

Joeswife, aroids are a very large group of plants which include Voodoo Lilies, Philodendrons, Caladiums, Taros, Monsteras, and many many others. Some grow in water but this is the only one I know that completely floats in water without roots going into the ground.

Not sure of the different types of vinca but mine isn't a vine, just a small shrub.

My Typhonodorum lindleyanum frequently produces these large flowers. The plant is over 3 metres high now and the flowers over 60 centimetres high. It's an aroid too that likes to grow in water but firmly anchored to the ground below.

Sunshinesw, great picture's and I like that Kalanchoe. It will be interesting to see what the bloom look's like.

Rita, I liked your peach C. Cactus too. I talked to someone today and they said that Lowes now has in the gold bloomer like the one you posted. Guess I will head to Lowe's tomorrow;-)

Debra, I really like your "Goth" garden and really admire that Alocasia cuprea that you have. Is that Alocasia a picky plant to grow? I would love a start from your Begonia plant and I will start you one of mine if you would like.

Tropicbreeze, the Aroid pic that you posted is interesting. I am glad you re-posted it here with a name because I was going to ask you about it;-)

Sunshinesw, thanks for starting the new thread.
I hope that my baby Bromeliad will look like the one in your first picture.
The Gieger plant is a new one for me to research, please show it again when it's in full bloom, along with the Kalancho.
It is nice that everyone had a favorite from your assortment of pictures.

Joeswife, that lttle Dollie is my 2nd GD. Thanks
I too, am a fan of the marigold, they reseed here, and I will stick them wherever there is a bare spot in the flowerbed to help discourage pests.

Tropicbreeze, I hope that the Nurserys in the US don't get the same idea about charging for looking, like the Orchid outlet does in Australia. If I see a plant that is interesting, I would go home, Google it and then go back if all is good.
It was driving me crazy trying to remember where I saw your Aroid. I did have Water Lettuce a few yeas ago, but the winter killed them. That is good info. on them.

I had to Google your Typhonodorum Lindleyahum, I got so interested in finding one to buy, I forgot that I was on Daves. I have a pond in my GH that they can grow in. So far, only one person has them for trade, unfortunately I have nothing in his want list.

RachelF, If you can wait until after Thanksgiving, Lowe's usually mark down their Christmas cactus.
That is a beautiful Philo. Gloriosum you have there, I love their velvety leaves.

Pensacolagrden, I harvested two papyas today, I finally have seeds. The one on the right has seeds already sprouted, but the other one has a lot of good seeds and is a real tasty papaya from RJ. I will be sending seeds as soon as they have dried out.

Placenciarita, that brom is not the same one I sent you. This is a new one I just got a week or two ago.

Pensacola, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh wow rita your the best thanks for remembering I am so happy. I will plant them before the last frost in the spring indoors so they will be big enough to put out doors.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Hi James! hope you are doing well, do you have anything growing yet inside? Today I scrubbed two sago palm seeds that was sent to me, they will go into a nice warm rooting medium under the bright light .
I saved some seeds from an overripe Kiwi, and dried them out. I am going to plant some to see if they sprout. Rita I love that bloom, what is it?
I also have some of the japoninca fatsia seeds, going to plant them too..I cleared off another table downstairs, to get ready for seed trays.
RJ that blue Ginger is awsome.. and I always enjoy the Fern Tree.
Rachel you always have such nice plant pics. You had asked me about the little alocasia and it is just a baby, and has not been moved out of its seed pot yet. we will see how it goes.
tropic, I also tried to find that huge plant of yours. Too bad they do not offer seeds.
sunshine, I guess I am going to study broms, I had one last year with a big red bloom, but it died.
Rachel here is the begonia I have..
