Here's my haul from yesterday, 11/14/09. Tons of smaller tomatoes, several jalapenos, and a watermelon! We've got tons more tomatoes, a couple of pumpkins that are almost ripe, and lots more jalapenos. Cooler weather is coming, so these veggies won't last too much longer, but we've got some cooler weather veggies planted to keep us busy the next couple of months.
Anyone else out there still harvesting?
Still Harvesting!
Looks just like me I'm picking everything that has a chance of ripeing because there is a chance of a light freeze. I can't remember another year when I've such a variety so late. I am going to cover my veggie plants to try to keep them going because the freeze is supposed to be short. If I do all this it won't freeze for sure.

We have about a dozen Green Zebras that are still ripening, about a dozen of some other variety of larger maters still ripening, many of those just forming within the past 2 weeks, and still about 4 or 5 smaller yellow tomatoes that I just discovered. We have a huge yellow one (I think it's Kellogg's something or other) that is getting ready, but still green. The jalapeno plant is going crazy! I harvest at least a dozen peppers off that thing a week, and it's just one plant! The pumpkins are almost ripe, too.
Here's the largest yellow tomato.
Steph,
What'd you do with all your jalapenos?
We had our first frost last night - we covered the plant which still has many green tomatoes and it was undamaged. Maybe we'll still get some ripe ones in the next few weeks.
Is it spring yet?
Frank
Throughout the summer, I've been giving them away to my co-workers and the people at my chiropractor's office. We've eaten some, made salsa, pico de gallo, and other stuff. I've even taken some with me to my brother down in New Braunfels.
You ever do the jalapeno jelly? There's a microwave recipe. You should make this and bring me a case! ^^_^^_^^
I've never tried to make it, but I've eaten it. I was thinking of boxing up my next slew of jalapenos and shipping them to my brother. He loves them!
I finally broke down and purchased a freezer. I am picking/freezing broccoli daily - collards weekly - carrots monthly.
It will be so nice next summer to be able to enjoy these out-of-season home-grown veggies. By this time next year, I'm hopeful the freezer will also contain summer's harvest of toms, beans, onions, asparagus and strawberries.
I've already ordered 50 sweet potato slips, and am putting together a seed "wish list"
Like Frank, I'm counting the days till spring 2010 :)
Hey, HoneybeeNC,
I'm right behind yah on that new freezer thing. Been toying with it for awhile now, and my income taxes are less than I anticipated. Will have a little extra left over!
What kind did you get for your veggies?

HBi, Gymgirl - I did not buy this freezer from A J Madison, but this is the same one I bought from HH Gregg

Think it's big enough? (giggle)
StephanieTX, your harvest is gorgeous! Congratulations.
I got our freezer on craigslist. It's practically new and only cost me $150. Just an idea if you're looking to save a little $$...
Thanks! Last night, I harvested my first small pumpkin, more tomatoes, and another half dozen or so of jalapeno peppers. The tomato plants are still loaded (again!), but the peppers are slowing down. I only have one more pumpkin to harvest.
