We have had Grizzly, Black bears, Mountain Lion, Deer, Elk, Coyote, and even a Moose in our neighborhood. In fact one neighbor saw a Cougar chasing a Moose through his yard this spring. I especially love the Screech Owls in the middle of the night. I first thought it was a Cougar but after chasing it I realized it was a Screecher. They sound similar.
Apropos of Nothing v.4
Sofer just be sure you don't mistakenly chase that gun-totin' neighbor. You paint such a colorful picture of Montana!
I saw an eagle in a tree yesterday from the bus crossing the I-520 bridge into Seattle. That's a definitely plus about the bus - you can observe the birds in the marshes at the edge of the city. Check out this thread:

Great eagle photos Katie - thanks! They are so magnificent! The only time I've seen them is when I was in Alaska. By the way, can you drive all the way to Sitka or do you have to take a ferry?
We have raccoons here in Portland but most of the wildlife is found on Hawthorne Blvd. :)
Pretty much need to take a boat. I just love these toppographical Google maps:

This just makes me laugh:

LOL That's funny!
Rug.
Gotta be the rug.
That cat either wants some food or to go outside. Looks like my Shadow.
I wonder how the cat's video on you tube would be narrated . . .
Patricia, is Shadow chatty too?
There is a video on youtube - I haven't seen it there but it was on the news - about a hospital staff in Portland that dances all over the hospital to raise breast cancer awareness. It's pretty cool.
Shadow is a talker. If she needs food or treats she let's me know.
Here it is:

Willow, maybe Shadow is "related" to the other cat . . .
That is a neat video. That janitor was doing pretty good.
I think all tabbies are related some how.
I just love the bald eagles and I never get tired of seeing them. I remember the first time I ever saw one I was on one of those double decker busses going to Victoria from Sydney. I saw one flying and at first, could not believe what I was seeing (I had not lived here long....) . When it became apparent that it was, indeed, an eagle, I could not contain my excitement and bounced up and down pointing and yelling 'Oh my God! It's a bald eagle! Look everyone!! A bald eagle! I can't believe it!'... Of course, every person on that bus thought I was mentally deranged. I was so moved I had tears running down my face. So did everyone else, except it was from laughing at me.
I took this photo on our vacation this summer.
Great picture, Melissa. They are so magnificent, it's hard to get a bad picture from them, isn't it?
The first time I ever saw one was as a high school student on a bus. We were coming into Haines from Fairbanks and there was this forest of denuded dead conifers. It seemed like every one of them held an eagle. I'm not sure what time of year it was.
I did a search on eagles in Haines and found this for anyone who is interested:

There are usually eagles around American Lake here in our neck o' the woods. They're so awesome to watch.
Went to the ugly sweater party this evening, and had a great time. I'll post pics when I get them- my BIL was the camera man, and he got a few really funny ones of me and Tracy. :)
My hometown in Wisconsin along the Mississippi River was always a mecca for bald and golden eagles. I see them (bald eagles) all the time around here in Richmond. There is a nesting pair at a golf course about 1/2 mile from my house. Yesterday I was sitting in the dining room cutting out fabric for a new duvet cover and looked out the wind just in time to see 2 bald eagles fly over the house across the street. My guess is they were that same pair from the golf course. When my father passed away 30 years ago I was driving to catch my flight home and had just left my hometown, wondering if he had found a happier place. Just at that moment I saw a huge bald eagle flying low and slowly over a snow-covered cornfield. I decided that had to be my sign that he had.........
Not too much 4-legged wildlife here in Richmond.....racoons, squirrels, coyotes, rabbits.........
It seems like a strangely quiet place......I am used to hearing birds, crickets, grasshoppers, frogs at the right time of the year. Nothing like that here.
I'd take that as a sign. When my sister got married, she was sad that my father was gone and could not perform the ceremony. During the vows an osprey flew low over her and her husband. We all took that to mean dad was there in spirit.
We have a nesting pair of bald eagles on the small lake near our home. Every year they circle above our house out on flights with their young. It is so cool to see the parents calling to one another and to the young. Last summer there were 5 eagles circling all at once. I am never too busy to stop and watch when I know they are up there.
Pixy, Sofer, breathtaking pictures.
Wonderful photos!
We saw so many eagles in Sitka. I had taken my parents on a cruise (they were too old to travel by any other way) to Alaska for my dad's 90th birthday and we had a great time. The wildlife in Alaska is so amazing. I want to go back, but this time in my car so I can do what I want! Big cruises are not my thing but good for the old folks.
Gorgeous photos, Steve. :)
And now, because we're a bunch of chatterboxes, it's time for...

SURE TAKE AWAY ALL MY PHOTOS. LOL
Thppppppppt! Repost them on the new thread if you feel slighted. ;p
No all is well my friend only joking.
LOL I figured. But people usually keep posting in the old thread for a while anyway... ;)
Flakeball just called here & this is the sum total of her voicemail: "Hi Summer, it's Tara. I got back to Lincoln City today, instead of yesterday. You have my cell number, so give me a call. Thanks."
Back from WHERE? I dunno. So clueless (her, not me). Apparently no thought that she might have cost me a Sunday with my friends as I sat here, drumming my fingers, listening for a truck ...
