Dreams

Dreams, not aspirations.

Do you remember yours? Any reoccuring? Weird ones?

My hubby says he never remembers his. He has slight color blindness and I heard that color blind people don't remember their dreams because dreams are in color.

wow is the color blind thing true??.. I usually remember wacky dreams or frighting ones.. seems to happen more when the full moon is around

I had a reoccurring dream well nightmare when I was younger... driving a car at night.. I can only see one headlight in front of me... and no longer can see the road.. I try to stop the car and the brakes don't work... I can feel the car still moving and I keep slamming the break over and over... there were a few times I actually woke up after a few mins and realized I was sitting on the end of my bed kicking my paperboard dresser .. it was a cheap one that had these doors that slid... I cracked the thing and my mom came running in to see what was going on... I realized right before I was looking at the wall switch on the light for my room... it had one of those glowy lights when it was off.. but for whatever reason it just kept happening.. someone told me it was because I felt my life was out of control.. not really sure about all that.. but it was freaky .. as you know I have bad ankles and I really hurt myself somedays

edit -- I woke up right after the car came to a stop by its self

Never heard that about color blindness. My mom says she never remembers but she sees colors.

I have always had and remembered dreams. A number of recurring ones, including the school one I have posted about - I'm back in college in senior year and I've missed classes and might not graduate. Supposedly it's quite common.

Of course, I can't talk about some of my best dreams. ^_^

Another recurring thing involves peeing! Whenever I really have to pee, it seems to invade my dreams, but in a weird way. Instead of just needing to pee in the dream, I am always peeing all over the place - never in a john. Everywhere - on people's floors, furniture - whatever.

I have flown and floated. Have fallen off cliffs, etc., and have always had soft landings.

Had one just two nights ago where I was a student in a cooking school and was doing a musical number during orientation!

You asked.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i had one the other day and i could not get my shirt tucked in no matter how hard i tried - kept missing - very frustrating and i woke my wife.
another i use to have is of falling a math college course that would cause me to not graduate. Had that one for years, also frustrating as i would study hard and fail every time - talk about rolling around in bed. This one probably came from when i dropped statistics the first time through, one of those courses where the highest grade was a 40 for the class with a grading curve that made it an A. When i got around to taking it again they had changed the prerequisite course - one that i never took - and a question popped up on the mid-term from this course. Only a 5 question test - same deal all the grades were very low except three people had received 90 or better - happiest guy in the world when i was the 90!

IDK about the color blind thing, but I read it or saw it on a show and hubby doesn't remembers his so....If there are any color blind people out there let us know...are there any color blind gardeners??? There's a new thread topic.

Allison, very unusual recoccuring dream, does it happen when you first go to sleep or right before you wake up in the morning?

RE: The peeing thing, funny.
If I have to go, I dream that I'm looking for a bathroom but all the stalls are overflowing or really dirty or there are no doors on them so I can't find a place to go.

Bill, That is so funny about the shirt.

I have dreams where I can't remember my class schedule or can't find my classroom and then my old boss is always my teacher or principal, but the actual teachers or principals that I've had are not in my school dreams.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

it used to happen close to the morning hours Jen.. glad that one stopped.. I remember back in high school I used to have one with my alarm clock... when it beeped for some reason it kicked in a dream ... don't really remember it now.. but something like a car backing up.. I changed alarm clocks and stopped that one

I was just wondering because there was a show about people that have scary dreams early in the evening where they are moving around a lot and fighting off bad guys or whatever and that when you're in your deepest sleep you actually don't move around...but who the heck knows, I mean I think everyone is different.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I have dreams both at night... and in the morning.. maybe coming out of the rem sleep.. who knows

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I seem to have more later - closer to wake-up.

Really weird when I wake up and the dream continues when I get back to sleep! Like hitting the pause button.

I used to have dreams where I needed to use the toilet but there was something wrong with every stall I went into. Some needed to be flushed. So I decided that when I had this dream I would walk into the stall and flush the toilet and then use it. And that is what I did. After a couple of dreams where I flushed - the dreams stopped. Now the bad dreams are the waitress dreams where no matter how hard I try - I cannot get anyone served and they just keep coming and then they start bitching! Now that is frustration!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I've had waitress dreams, but that's not it.

Victor! (Just had to do that for old times sake.)

Dreams argh - most wackiest one you can imagine. Reoccuring when I was a kid and reocourring now. I will wake up and go back into the same one and it keeps going further and further into - plain weird stuff.

When I was a kid - I had a ring on my index finger and would point it and fly. Then the ring would start to loose power and I would start floating slowly down.
1st time - I am going down and look down and there was cavemen with clubs with spikes, bats with spikes and swinging chains - OH $!&% and woke up.
2nd time - A buch of people reaching up waiting to grab me - OH $!&% and woke up.
3rd time - A circles with a pack of wolves all with their necks stretched up in the air showing their teeth and growling - OH $!&% and woke up.

5 years old - I snuck in my fathers bedroom to play w/ the doll house and a lion chewed off my toes. I look down no toes just blood.

12 years old - Standing on a cliff (dark shadows one with the water splashing up against all the rocks) I did a swan dive right off the cliff to go in the blue water and just as I did the water went out and I hit the rocks. Woke up like I was having a heart attack.

Last night - Was at the dentist and he took an impression of my lower teeth and he screwed up every tooth on the lower left. He knew I was really ticked off and was trying to fix them and the more he did the worse it got. My blood was starting to boil and he said - I am almost done but the other dentist is still charging you and I am also. Woke up and said OMG.

Wow Sherrie. You need a nice relaxing bubble bath before bed.

No bubble bath thanks. Cant sit down that long. I hate baths. Not all the dreams are bad. Sometimes I cant remember them until I see something.

North Augusta, ON

Has anybody ever noticed that if you think about something while you're falling asleep you'll likely dream about it? Try it...I've solved a few problems by doing that.

Most of my bad dreams involve the cats and dogs...somebody terrorizing them and I can't help them.

Last year DH and I were having a bad spell and I said I'd kick him out in a minute if it weren't for the fact that he'd take one of the dogs...Klick to be exact. That night I dreamed that I was driving through a populated area and there were a thousand Klicks following me begging me to take them with me. My dream was telling me something very important there.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, dreaming about something that's on our minds is pretty common.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I find sometimes if I eat late that also contributes to whacked out dreams

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I remember my dreams in the morning if I just lie still and try not to think about them and then I remember them. I like my dreams. I have had dreams all my life where the settings are the same but I have never been there. Those are my fav because it's another interesting place. I have bad dreams but usually related to some niggly, piggly fear or bother which is easy to figure out. I also learned that if you are having a really frightening dream try to look at your hand or another part of your body. That will bring you back from the nightmare. In my weirdest dreams I have super powers. LOL@myself. Obviously I'm a go big or go home dreamer.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Have you had the experience where you are in a dream but you are trying to wake up and cannot? That is very stressing. It happens to me every once in a while.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

yes i have them usually in the morning and if it lasts an hour the day is shot.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - morning or if I take a nap during the day.

Another common one is driving a car that is out of control. Sometimes I am even trying to drive it from the back seat. Real back seat driver!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Ditto on unable to wake up dreams during naps. Also people calling me and I can't find them or they can't hear me during naps. Nap dreams are different. Maybe cuz we don't get to complete REM stage which is when dreaming occurs?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Could be.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I love dreaming too. I have had 2 real cool dreams, 1 could have been a CSI episode and 1 could be an idea for a tv series.

Weird thing whenever I have a dream that I'm in a car or on a motorcylce I'm not going fast enough and can't make it go any faster.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I dream in color.
When I was younger I used to think some of my strange dreams were glimpses into the future.
I also used to have a lot of dajavue experiences.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Lots of similiar ones already mentioned.

Flying--I like those.

Trying to drive a car from the back seat. Frustrating

Waking up and going back to sleep and continuing the same dream.

Being in the dream and saying and being aware that I am dreaming. I like that one cause it means I can do anything because I know it is just a dream.

When I was little I dreamt I was on a baseball field, first base, and there were people on teams I didnt know, but it was summer and nice. A few years later I went to summer camp and found myself on first base and looked around remembered that this was my dream. Weird!

i hate that one where you can't wake up! It is frightening!

I have dreams about animals biting me. It is said that this is enemies around you and depending on the animal, how big a foe. Rats being the worst. When I have those dreams i tend to look askance at people for a few days trying to figure out who it is that means me harm.

I have dejavu a lot too.

I also have a recurring dream that my teeth are loose and falling out.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

the loose teeth is common, also mouth full of gum you cant remove.
i think its communication frustration.

Thomaston, CT

I'm glad some of those dreams are like mine---going from stall to stall trying to find a clean john, or realizing I'm in the men's room instead! But I used to have a recurring nightmare, where I'm crossing railroad tracks in a huge yard, & I know the trains are coming, but not on which track---I spent the night jumping, one track to another. Another nightmare was being with my son at the beach when a tsunami hits---I see the wave coming, & grab him by the hand---the next thing I see is his drowned body floating toward me---I would wake up drenched in sweat! Dreams stopped when we filled in the swimming pool!

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

That tsunami one was truly frightening!

ge, you may be right. Communication frustration is a biggie with me.

I use this site sometimes when my dreams haunt me in the daytime:

I'm hoping to have the one where I'm in the ladies room...

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

LOL Victor! Shame on you...

Maybe Victor want a real change!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Jadajoy, had the loose teeth dreams too.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Maybe I can lose my teeth in a ladies room??

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Keep dreaming :-)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

What a riot

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's what I'm hoping, Joyce! I'll think about it before nodding off.

Newport News, VA(Zone 11)

Hope you find a clean one while your in there. And if you wake up, just tell your wife you had to pee.
