(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Oh RJ, u can not tear that vine out! argh! it is beautiful! just trim it or something..
I agree... I do not understand the one state to another thing of invasives... good thing I didn't send you a Messina Creeper.. now that is one Over Zealess vine..

LiliMerci and Kimarj, I will be looking foward to those cactus blooms, that way we can have a little color in December.

RachelLF, I knew that you would like my new Philo. I hope that this one does not revert back to all green leaves. I had one do that before.
I love the bright color of your Christmas cactus, it is a shame that you can't tell what color they are on the markdown rack. This one was a nice surprise, it is almost a golden color, with one white like your's.

Joeswife, that is a very nice full Philo basket. I think that they are becoming my new favorite plant.
This is a new plant from Home Depot. The name on the tag is Syngonium Nephthytis,(Arrowhead vine). But these do not look like anything in the plant files, the leaves are completely different.

Rj, It is a shame that you will have to take out your vine, It is a very interesting plant. I do understand your reasons, I have the same problem with a blue morning glory. I was told not to plant it, but because I march to a different drummer, I planted it anyway. Now I spent most of my day weeding out morning glory vines, from my yard and the neighbors.

This is my little gardening buddy, for his school project ,he made a turkey from material collected in my yard. I promised to show it off.
I hope that he gets a A+

Rita , that is an awsome gardening helper you have there... what a great job on his prizewinning turkey. He Rocks!

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

yes, Rita, that turkey your gardening buddy made is FANTASTIC!

Is that Xmas cactus peach color?

noonamah, Australia

Rita, Syngonium leaves on a young plant are different from those on old. I've got Syngonium as a weed here, growing right up into the tree tops. The leaves are like those in your photo. Where I rip them out, the new plants that shoot from the roots have those arrow head shaped leaves

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Rita, I like the way that vine looks.... there is a native arrowhead water plant here in kansas, it is so cool looking .. especially a pond area full of them with their little arrows pointinng up and their little flowers pointing the other way..
your crossandara looks fantastic.. do u know I still have about 50 baby crossandras left? I just sent out three more today.. I hope they get as big as yours for her.. I am getting boxes out slowly..

this is going to be a nice red bloom, it should be open tommorrow ( tall plant in center) I grew it from seed.

Thumbnail by joeswife
(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

someday I am going to have a pond.. big enough to fish in.. small enough to walk around the whole of it.. with an island in the center and a bridge from the main park to the center, and I will stock Coy, Catfish and Crappie.. Ahh it is nice to dream..

This is my woodrose, three passion vines and a morning glory all fighting for the same area..

It snowed the night before last, and was up to almost 60 today.. all my tenders outside are still hanging in there.. well a few did freeze, but the ones that are tuff like me are still hanging..

New Leaf on Roja Banana

A variety of Lantana montevidensis which flowers most of the year. It's a small, creeping plant, unlike its larger relative which is a disasterous noxious weed in many countries.

Thumbnail by tropicbreeze
noonamah, Australia

This one is a weed, but our dry season keeps it from getting too far out of control. In year round wet climates it's a disaster. Singapore Daisy with one of our native bees, Trigona sp.

Cuphea, grows as a small sprawling shrub. Had this one for a few years. It's growing mixed in with the Lantana.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I know...don't think I won't be pouting as I take it out. I may see if the new Houston Arboretum may want the trunk of it.
Seriously, this vine is an amazing climber. I've had vines go from the (morning glory) from the back garden to the front garden, but never had one jump the alley behind me and up into the trees accross the road...

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Tropic, I love your lantanas and daisy and cuppea.. right up my alley.. thanks,.
RJ, I had to cut my thumbergia out of the neighbors trees this fall.. I hope you find a home for babywoodrose

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I have to say that thungbergia is the next runner up in that category..I did cut one of those out before as well.

Red Oak, TX

joeswife, you just have to love the crossandra, they are easy to grow and are profuse bloomers. Is your nice red bloom a Hibiscus plant? I can't wait to see it.
Your containers remind me of my Mom's garden, we did not have a garden center, so we used the empty cans or whatever floated up on the beach for pots. Her favorite was the Nabisco crackers can, we ate a lot of crackers.

LiliMerci, thanks for taking the time to comment on my little buddy's
school project. I will copy what you and Joeswife said and give it to him tomorrow, I can see that great big smile on his face already.

The Cactus is a light gold color, I do have a peach but no blooms a yet.

tropicbreeze, thanks for sharing those lovely blooms with us. I am always trimming back my lantanas. I also have a purple one that is a creeper, the butterflys just loves them.
Thanks for the Heads up on the Syngonium, I will keep it in a hanging basket until I figure out how agressive it will be here.

Rj, I do hope that the Arboretum takes your woodrose vine, and gives you visitation rights.

Does ayone recognize these plants? I am hoping that they are Hoyas.

Cape Coral, FL(Zone 10a)

It looks like Hoya brivialata(bad spelling) too lazy to look up. ; )

Joeswife, you will really enjoy your new philodendron "Brasil" vine. I really like mine and it's such an easy and beautiful plant to have.

Rita, I have never seen a christmas cactus with a gold bloom but it sure is a beautiful one and that white bloom compliment's the gold very well;-)

R.J. I sure hope the Arboretum in your area take's your woodrose vine. It is a beautiful plant in all reality.

Tropicbreeze, I really liked viewing your Singapore daisy with the bee gathering the pollen. Nice picture.

Xanadu got a hair cut and repotted today....it was long over due.

Rachel, your Black Majic is now planted in a Black beaded purse for the winter, my college girl cleaned out her stuff in the garage and I thought I would try this as a winter planter for my Goth Garden.. it looks happy already..

I missed the red bloom (WORK) it must have been the red star hibiscus from Laslo..I started the seed in the hibiscus tub last winter..

Another dark face for my Goth garden.. again, college girl is helping me on this one..

My DH LOVES this plant ( the one to the left reaching up)I still can't remember the name.. from Rita is all I know..itis still in the same pot as it was all summer, he thinks I should repot it, I am afraid to, the roots are out of it and they are entwined in the old gauze curtain I put under it to soak up excess moisture..it works.. I am not fixing it until it looks like it wants to be fixed.

Rita, that hanging vine is cool looking.. it reminds me of a burrow tail I saw in Buffalo, but bigger.. I am glad your Hibs are still blooming I love them.
Rachel, my angel wing begonia flushed so nice all summer.. I kept all of its seeds.. you can see it in the picture above.. it is a little different from yours, I will start you a cutting if u like.
RJ, my thumbergia has been cut back alot.. it is climbing again.
I double posted a picture.. here is the one I meant to post..

Xanadu is awsome@!
My DH wants me to take xtra care of this macho fern.. and yes, it is in a used pop corn tin, he drilled holes for me last summer when it came to me from Padre Islands. It shoots up funny looking curley things..
there is a penstamon plant sitting in it, that is dormant.. I guess I should move it.
I really want to thank all you Tropical Plant lovers for helping me to appreciate these things, and for helping me to over come my fear of them.

Sunshinesw, Thanks very much, the spelling was good enough for me to find them, only one letter off.
I found them at Lowe's for $3 each. Hoya Brevialata
This Fish Tail Hoya was also $3. I think that it needs a little tlc

RachelLF, The Philo Xanadu is yet another plant that I love, your's is so big and bushy.
I have a Gloden Xanadu that is not doing well. Come spring, I will move it to a sunny spot, maybe it will look as good as your plant by next fall.

Joeswife, that purse pot rocks!!! Sorry that you missed your hibiscus bloom, it is a very nice color. I hope that she gives you lots of seeds.
The plant is a Xanthosoma Lime Zinger, it seems to like where it is. Is the plant next to it a Desert rose?

Thumbnail by prita

Rj, another very interesting Blog. I like the less complicated version. There is usually no room on my Thanksgiving table for a centerpiece. (too much food)

Placenciarita, Great prices!!!

noonamah, Australia

$3.00? That wouldn't even buy you the tag off a plant here. There's an orchid outlet here that charges you $7.00 if you go in and don't buy anything. Well, they were doing that a few years ago. It probably costs more than that now.

noonamah, Australia

These are flowering for me now, they're aroids. Can't remember the name, will have to look it up.

tropic, this one here: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=7294884
is mindblowing.. you gotta find the name..
Rita and sunshine, not fair! Our lowes never has stuff like that.. But I will keep looking..
RJ I have had the same cornucopia in the middle of our table at Thanksgiving for over 30 years.. I can't remember for sure, but I think it was our first centerpiece sent by DHs mom way back when. Been going thru all my boxes of seeds looking for some from Buffalo, the native morning glory I brought back, oh dear I had no clue I have so many collections from everywhere.. I have got to get more organized.. still have not found them, and really wanted to plant them now so they would be up in spring. dang it.
Yes, Rita, thats my wally world desert rose, she is all leafs right now..
