yep just got the message, the Last one is OK, he's, as he told his daughter, doing my job! Basically he's there helping the other soldiers that were in the building with him. whethers is getting them moved to a hospital, or contacting there families to say they won't be home again.

Keaau, HI

Glad to hear he's okay Trina. Sorry that he has to tell folks that their kids were gunned down by a mad psychiatrist.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

well the last time he had to that it was a whole lot more parents to tell

Keaau, HI

Does he have to inform parents of overseas war casualties?

It makes me ill that this world of intelligent nations, settles it's disputes with wars, and they use their citizens to do it. (So long with the idea of an advanced society!)

As long as there is an us or them motive, no one wins! That's why we fight each other. That's why we are wrecking our planet's natural environment.

I thought that the photo was from the Kent State incident. I looked it up and it was.

No, last big thing was when we lived in Germany, and the Ramstien Air Disaster, one of the few times his daughter wasn't with the 3 amigos, Bec was actually at home with the chicken pox, but since he thought of me and Angela as his "other" girls, and he knew we were there I can't imagine it was easy on him, needless to say when he found us he made us call our parents, of course Angie called her mom. then he goes alright young lady your next, and I asked who I was suppose to call, he goes well your mom, I said dad shes ACS she's here helping the injured somewhere

Trina, what is ACS?

Keaau, HI

Hi Carol! That's it. The Kent State Tragedy. Richard Nixon okay'd the National Guard to shoot some protesting students.

Interesting that colleges teach individuals to think for themselves and become active in their communities.

Remember CSN: "Four dead in Ohio".

This was very similar to China's Tiannamen Square incident.

Civilian
Services

Carol, it's a group of Civilians, most of whom are married to military personnel who have special skill sets to deal with tragedies on military bases, they are on call 24/7 for everything from a domestic dispute to a house fire to full scale Disaster on any military base world wide...my mom's specialty was she was a trauma nurse, but when you are moved around every 2 years it's kinda hard to keep a job

Keaau, HI

Thanks Trina, I understand military lifestyles.

My father was a Coast Guard cook. That is how I got to live on the coast of NJ when I was a kid.

Trina, thanks!

Dave, what is CSN.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Cool Dave, I knew you understood but Venice asked what it was, I was just trying to explain

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Dave, if you don't mind me asking. You lived in NJ as a kid and now you have been in HI for quite a while. So where were you before and after NJ? And I forget in what state did you go to school? I am sure I am not the only one who thinks that it is really cool that you live in HI. But it makes a person wonder how you got there, if you know what I mean. And I don't mean how you got there by plant or boat! lol

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Crosby Stills ans Nash Venice. Four Dead in Ohio was a song

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

when they are awake all the dog and cat do is fight but come nap time or bed time don't try to seperate them or you'll be the one that gets attacked!

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

well I am headed for a nice long bubble bath and then bed, good night, Carol and Dave

Keaau, HI

Hey Carol, everyone knows that CSN is Crosby, Stills, & Nash!

Night Trina! Have a nice evening and a peaceful sleep.

(Zone 5b)

morning all! Smiley wake up!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm up! I'm up! Got coffee. too.

Just catching up, as usual.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Uh, Dave? That's The Grateful Dead.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Morning

What no wakey eggs and bakey today?

(Zone 5b)

eggs & bakey soon, JJ...just went to the gym FINALLY!
lol Smiley....I didn't click on that pic this morning.....

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Me neither. When I noticed there was more than 3 people in it, I thought well maybe Neil Young (on my list of top 5 faves) is in the photo. So I clicked. Funny thing is, I recognized Bob Weir before Jerry Garcia.

And I'm not even a dead head!

I just had an english muffin today. Bad Julie, no protein.

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

OH good Lynnie I can have another cream horn then. :)

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Good morning JJ. How did the fin cleaning go? Can I have a cream horn? All we have here are crappy donuts.

Trina, when you get up, forgot to say I'm glad all your buddies are OK.

(Zone 5b)

No bacon for me, either, just pulled the burners apart to clean them....they were filthy!I have hard boiled eggs in the fridge...cooking a meatloaf now....
JJ save me a cream horn! Throw some chocolate chips in mine :)
I barely recognized Garcia lol he wasn't that young in my time.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

One of them hard boiled eggs, all sliced up, on my english muffin with a tad of mayo ...

I just fried my keyboard, I'm drooling!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Threw me for a loop too, Ladies. Good morning.

Smiley, I am right up there with ya on Neil Young, grin. BTW, when Ohio was recorded, the group was officially CSN&Y.

Morning JJ. Cream Horns???? I didn't see any cream horns....8-(

Woodhull, IL(Zone 5a)

Yep Ladies cream horns. Hadn't had any for loooong time. The gocery store opened...Yeaaahhh...and I went up to check it out. there is a bakery in Galesburg..about 20 miles.. that makes the best and there they were on the shelf. One pkg. just waiting for me.

First thing the GS said was "I want one for breakfast tomorrow don't eat them all Gramma".
So I shared. Me 2 him 1..LOL and 1 for DH unless he waits to long to eat his. It is calling my name!!

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Those were just meant to go to your house, JJ. Finder's reward....grin

(Zone 5b)

don't you hate when you save something for hubby & you wait & wait &he doesn't eat it and then it's a little stale?

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Moon, you have a rarity!!

4-Way Street was one of my faves. I saw them back in 1974 at Ralph Wilson Stadium with Santana ... and someone else was there too. Can't remember, will have to go look at the scrapbook.

Neil Young was here last year, played at a small venue - it was nice. Intimate, played an acoustic set, took a break, then came out with the electrics. It was wild.

I love concerts. Now that the kids are older, we've gone from Sesame Street Live to the American Idol Tour to what we want to see. Time for us again, didn't realize how much I missed going to concerts until we started going more often again.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

LOL Lynnie! Yes, I hate that. Doesn't work in our house with cake or brownies, though. DH prefers them a little on the crunchy side.

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

LOL Lynnie...we only know that cuz we eat them...lol.

We have a GOODY BOARD....a corner of the dry erase board in the kitchen.....that I call the countdown spot. Pastries, etc are listed there to keep DH and the kid from rummaging....when special stuff is listed I put everyone's name and number of goodies up there. You eat one, you mark it off, after a couple or so days, the remainder move to the Fair game spot.....started doing that when my kids were little and would snag each other's treats.....old habits....grin

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Yeah, Smiley, that is why I just can't part with my vinyl....DHJim worked as a DJ at LSU and back in hometown while we were dating/first married. I'll have to show you a pic of the vinyl collection sometime.

I love concerts. That is why we work festivals with our music promoter friend....live music...yea!!!

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Yup, we still have the 'ole turntable hooked up. Nothing like vinyl.

Know what's better than live music? Free live music! There are a lot of places here during the summer to catch live music. Almost every day of the week, every week. Only problem I have is getting DH to go... isn't a fan of getting there, parking, all that silly stuff.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Moon, you just keep coming up with new talents!!! I wish I had you for a goodie monitor here. It is hard with just me. What happened if someone took another person's goodie?

Prairieville, LA(Zone 9a)

Free Live Music Rules, Smiley....that is why we have so many Festivals in La. They all have free live music.

Venice, if ya take another's goodie, you lose one of yours. If you ate the last one, and it wasn't yours, then you got one less on the next go around and they got to eat it in front of you.... Pastry Crime and Punishment 101...LOL
