Nice table, Bill. It turned out cool.
New Garden Projects #6
thx jumper
dnut who are the authors?
gordon hayward is the author for stone in the garden - which i recommend, was $20 or so on Amazon for the hardcover.
Years ago I had nice schist walkways but when I got here we couldn't afford them. So I used straw paths. But I marked where I wanted to put a short wall with serpentine grace. If it weren't snowing out so heavy, I'd go and take a pic of the string of small rocks that I can only see from the end of the season to spring. I'm looking for pics I took recently of all the indoor plants. Here are some hoyas in the apartment in the barn.
Wha, I think your bonsai table is perfect. Level too! I'll bet you checked. Patti
Boojum, crossed posted with you. Nice to see SOME of your plants inside. I know there are many many more.
I brought in the last of our stragglers yesterday and now just have to figure out a place to put them. But I while pondering the problem I realize that we have a glass door going outside from the greenhouse on the east end which we don't use in the winter. Perfect spot for some winter shelving! I even have a shelf unit in Vt shed that will be just perfect. I will take over that stoop now and bring the shelving unit down in Jan when we take the truck off island to get wood. Patti
Daniel sez it's like the sorcerer's apprentice.
Lordy, it's like Eden---I love all the indoor plants, but the orchids are so special....
OMG Boojum you live in a jungle. COOL! wha 'Landscaping with Stone' is from Sunset Books by Hazel White and the Editors of Sunset Books. 'Advanced Masonry' is a 1967 Time Life book from the 'Home Repair and Improvement' series. I got both at the fabby used bookstore.
Iwant to know what the Floral picture is in the back of the first apt.pic.
thx patti - i had the level with me and for a while it was my nemesis
kathy i now understand why it take 3 hours to water the plants - they look great.
oh and i took a walk in the woods today and found a nice lichen covered stone that will be a mushroom cap - hope i do not break it chipping out a hole on the underside - and another vertical one to "plant"
Boojum That is one fine pastel. You are mooochoh talanted.
Bill ! I am concerned for you. Have you looked into a Rock 12 Step program?LOL
there are several places i could add a rock stepping stone path joann - i would need more than 12 stones though
Thanks, Jo Ann. Coming from you that means a lot!
Its really striking.I never could attempt pastels.
Ya know I couldn't either and one day I was watching someone paint with pastels and I decided to try. Up till that point, I had never attempted anything that I wasn't good at immediately. My first attempts were so awful, I almost quit. Then I realized if I worked big I could make them more detailed and the rest is history. I learned a big lesson then, and now if I'm not good at something, I keep working at it till I get it. Changed my life really.
Always such a joy to see artists work on DG. It is so nice that so many posters on these forums have another world besides the dirty one that is so much chatted about so passionately. I do love that ge1836 and boojum, both plant and paint. I try, but not even close to showing anything, yet. Not shy, just bad. Pottery getting better, painting, not so much. Patti
Boojum
You learned one of lifes great lessons.
I was born under Capricorn and we are not known for patience but we also hang in there until we master what we want.
I started working big last winter when the market dried up.
I thought what the ell I'll paint as I want and as I am a Amazon woman I went big.
We have a saying "Go big or stay home"
Hang in there Patti.

Ge1836, Love that notion! I have a big bare canvas awaiting a bold move by me at some point this winter. I am a Capricorn too. I am more practical than patient, but I am steady as the tortoise and will not give up, ever. Hard headed to a fault and impatient of others in an unfair way. Great expectations. But my garden exists because I just keep at it. Now if my art attempts had the effort and time that I put into the dirt, I might post a picture, someday. Patti
Beautiful Kathy!!!! Thanks for showing a few some of your plants. When's the last time you made art?
Those are beauties, Booj! I would quake if I had to work so large--and Patti---you are with friends---we would not belittle your art!
Robindog, sweet of you, but I think I might get some dirt clogs thrown at my "art" and justifiable so. Someday I will get something worth posting. Patti
I love how great and how humble our DG artists are. Kathy and Jo Ann - both of you do such beautiful work! The gardening just goes hand in hand, doesn't it? I also enjoyed seeing your indoor plant areas, Kathy, because now that we've had the good fortune to see your lovely place, it is fun to know just what the space looks like in summer.
Patti - don't be hard on your work....it is part of you......and I think you have a great idea of how to use the glass doorway and shelving for your plants. I'll bet it will be pretty too! Post a pic if you can?
Nice table Bill!
I am in breathless awe at the artist talent I see on this forum. Can't wait to see your 'mushroom' wha.
And then the wheels fall off.......
Oh, that is truly you, Victor! I can see your creativity hard at work!
