Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sure - blame the keys.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Its a tough life out there.
You know who you are.Just stay strong

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

can't blame the keys - its the fat fingers and/or timing on their movements and the brain are out of sync

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I'll be 74 in January and believe me its just the beginning.
The worst part is I'm aware of it and every year there is a little slippage in the brain gears, this started in my late 60's so you have time.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Shoot, I started my downhill slippery slope in my 40s!! Although I don't make a lot of spelling mistakes. It's everything else....

Thomaston, CT

Yeah, I sort of fell apart at 50! That's why collecting rocks is a fun hobby---no mistakes!

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Yeh, mindless sensory activities are best (playing with orchids, sticking my hands up to the elbows in dirt).

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My body starting rebelling in my mid-30's! Back and knee.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

WOW You guys are really in bad shape.
My body started to go bad at 50.
Had hips replaced at 68.
Its the lost mind that bothers me most.
No short term memory, impulsive decissions,Unable to keep more than one task at a time in myhead and,
I forgot LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Including impulsive gardening decisions?!!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Bill, that's a great project you have going on. I think you should stick with Rolling Stone though, and we can call you Papa. Am I dating myself ?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thats so funny.
I had forgotten that song.
Yes impulsive gardening decissions.
Remember the false start for the RU at Louises?
I reserved in June for a event in Sept? Panicked when I didnt think I could get a refund.
It all worked out in the end but I had a month of Angst until the refund came through.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

venu - no papa - you are dating me (did that come out right?)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I doubt it Wha.
Looks strange unless the reader reads the above posts

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

^_^

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

"Papa was a rolling stone, where ever he laid his hat was his home and when he died all he left us was alone." Dating myself too i guess.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I dated myself. Ended up dumping me.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

This is getting into dangerous territory.
My bird houses are done.
This was the most successful one

Is that ever beautious ge! Its a taj mahal for birdies ^_^ What birdies are you hoping for?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Chickadees or Wrens. NO sparrows

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Great house. Can I move in?? Might hafta get a bigger door.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I'm SO with you ge. The Wild Bird Store is 2 blocks from me with multitoudinous sparrow feeders. Little did I know at the time so I put out a feeder with millet the first year we bought the house and there had to be 200 sparrows in the garden! Finches nowhere to be seen. I now have a large open feeder with corn and sunflower seeds for the bluejays and chickadees and a finch feeder with niger seed for the finches and redpolls. No sparrows now and we are all very happy! Chick and Dee made a nest by burrowing into my neighbour Anne's spruce tree this spring which was very exciting. The babys got so used to me that they come to the feeder when I'm right there rather than waiting in the tree or the fence til I walk by. I'm not sure that's a good thing but the baby robins (nest every year in the garden) bop around me when I'm planting in the spring so I guess they have discussed it and decided that I am bird friendly ^_^

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Wonderful birdhouse, Jo Anne! I just love them! You're so talented!

I get a lot of birds nesting here, too, Cousin Nut. Some in our birdhouses, some in trees. I have cardinals every year, as well as cat birds and robins. Had 2 wrens using birdhouses this year. Never see sparrows nesting here. I have a friend who gets them all the time. I get a lot of squirrels, too, unfortunately.

O sigh Cousin Nut I am constantly battling the truly evil Damien the Spawn of Satan Tree Rat :( I am greeen about your cardinals. We don't have them here. They used to nest in the cedars in the house where I grew up.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I have seen Baltimore Oriels here, but I think they only pass through. They never seem to nest at my place. The mother cardinal is always attacking her image in my car's mirrors, so when I'm parked at home I have to keep plastic bags on the mirrors to keep her from pecking them and pooping all over the side of the car!

Too funny Cousin Nut! When we moved here a male robin took issue to me dancing around so much while they were nesting and did major dumps on my softtop. We were mortal enemys that spring. He sat on the fence and gave me the evil eye and I called him really bad names while I cleaned up my car. But by the time the babies fledged, he was teaching them to follow me around cuz I dig up worms go figure. My car has never been dumped on since. I think sometimes its hard with spacing with nesting. If you have some birds nesting in your garden others won't. I've always been hoping for the finches to nest. But with robins and chickadees I think its just too busy.

South Hamilton, MA

I think orioles must nest in our woods as they do like eating tulip poplar seeds next to the house.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

LOL! Funny! That female cardinal has been nesting here quite a few years now. I had shiny hubcaps of my car one year, and she kept attacking her image in them, as well as the mirrors.

Karen

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

O how luvly irisMA.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I cant have an open feeder, the squrills just devour everything in a day.
Then they move in and dig in my pots and garden all summer and move bulbs in the fall.
I hate them.
I also discourage sparows by only buying seed small birds like.
Blue Jays and larger birds pick up the stuff that falls to the ground.
I dont buy bargin seed as those blends have a lot of "filler seeds" that the birds disguard and then the seed sprouts into weed varieties I dont want.

Thomaston, CT

There are some nice sparrows----white-throated for example---Oh Sam, peabody, peabody, follows me daily---and fox sparrows are gorgeous. I bought a new feeder the other day, but I'm not liking it---it has a plastic dome, & I can't see the birds feeding----and on cold morns, it's frosty-looking.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Jo Anne, I have the same problems with squirrels. They're horrible! I had a nice wood feeder that one of my sisters got me for Christmas one year, and the squirrels destroyed it with their constant chewing on it. I only use squirrel-proof feeders now.

Karen

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I love the special sparrows.
I am referring to the JunkEnglish Sparrows that breed all summer and swoop down on my feeders and clean them out before the better birds have a chance.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I owned a Yankee Flipper and it was hilerious.Just forgot to go out in the freezing winter to recharge the battery
