I love that show. How ugly is that one with no fur?!!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

They are ugly, but I'm fascinated by them. I want to see one in person. I've only seen them in photos. They should have them in the zoo.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

They look like chihuahuas to me.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yeah, I can see that. Chihuhaua and Gremlin is more like it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yeah, some kind of evil impregnation.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Awwww, poor little no-fur guy!

Celeste - I too love to see them stretch their back legs out. Molly was our only Bichon that didn't do that. She didn't think it was lady-like enough for her.

Hi Harper! Bailey and Carli are almost 11 weeks old and we've had them for two and a half weeks. Aren't they fun?! I can tell you this....I have even more compassion for all young Moms or Stay at Home Dads of twins and toddlers! It is hard work and I'm now officially no longer retired or a gardener. I am a "Gotta Keep Up Better" kinda Mom all of a sudden. LOL

PV - I just saw the shih-tzu you were mentioning and the look on her face is priceless!!! I'm sure you do miss your Phoebe! I miss my Molly too, but I consult her daily now and call her my Angel Girl. She trained me pretty well, but she forgot to tell me about house-training and puppy nipping because I rescued her when she was 5 months and already perfect and wise beyond her years. :)

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Eeew. This is a lovely conversation.

My dog keeps digging into the compost bin. I think something's living in there.

Edited to say: Ooops! Cross-posted. I was talking about Victor's response when I wrote about the conversation. Louise, the puppies have got to be a handful. They're really cute! How soft are they? Do they still have puppy breath?

Harper - they are very soft and they have all things puppy right now! My very knowledgeable puppy groomer insists that they be cut short soon and for the next few months so that grooming will be easier on them as puppies. sniff. I love their furry look, but I care more about reducing stress on them, so I have to agree with her. In addition to doing the actual grooming, she teaches puppies how to be groomed, and that is important with the fine-coated dogs who do not shed. I hate to see the dogs shivering out of stress in places like Petco, etc.. Until she can book them, I have the assignment of getting them used to a comb. Between getting wrapped up tight in their leashes and trying to read their minds about when exactly they will pee to make sure it is outside, yeah, I have a lot of time to whip that comb out on them! Tsk Tsk....I guess I'll find the time! LOL

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Wow! Looks like you're a great owner. They're lucky to have you!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Thank you, Harper. Your heart would melt too if you saw those eyes look up at you so adoringly. They are worth the effort!

Yes, yuck to the hairless cats---I like them very furry! Might be mice in the compost, Harper. Louise, the pup stories make me laugh---I was still working when we got our airedale twins---they were a handful! Doug was home with them, but he was NOT a good babysitter---they chewed up & dug up everything in the garden area we kept them in---& once they managed to get into the garage---they ate a backpack hanging on a nail & heavens knows what else! Ate the pumpkins on the porch---don't know how they survived! Or me either.

LOL, Marilyn! I can see the potential here if I turn my back! We have them relatively "contained" in their open air but confined circle pen which is now in the living room, for their safety primarily, and then they have brawl time on the front concrete porch with makeshift and very unattractive, non - front - porch fencing and barriers. They sleep and nap in their crate and they know they aren't supposed to play in there. We give them no eye contact when we walk by their crate and they stay quiet when they are in it. There has only been one night that they have not slept quietly through the night. That day and night will forever go down in Puppy Pee Record history! They now have Molly's half-circle dog bed with sort of high sides in their circle pen, and they like doing somersaults over the sides. It's too easy to just go in or out of the low front entrance to the bed! LOL They also like going into the bed together and sharing a big rawhide bone in it. My vet thinks the bigger ones are ok for the little pups. They can't swallow the rawhide. They make a valiant effort though. Right now Bailey is trying to rest in the bed and Carlie is trying to rip the side off the bed. She's sitting on top of Bailey's head as a lift to the top. They are too much! My son has requested to sit in the back seat with them on the way home from the airport tonight. If Hank felt better, I'd use the airport trip as a training time to put them in their airplane carrier and pull them in it through the airport for a short time, just to give them a short trial run in it. They need to be exposed to these experiences during this stage of life so they won't have a negative reaction later.

Thomaston, CT

They are a joyous pair! You're right, Louise, about giving them all sorts of experiences. When Garret & Kara bought Ollie, their pointing griffon, they were both working, so I babysat him, & took him everywhere, even into the library, post office, & town hall---in a small town, you can get away with a lot! When the kids dismissed from the middle school, I brought him out onto the sidewalk so the kids could pet him---he loves everyone now, especially his 3 kids. Here he is as a pup....

Happy Thanksgiving to all our wonderful pets! Just a reminder...Black Friday is the busiest day of the year at the Veterinarian's office, so keep your food safe and your pets safer :)

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I think it's quite interesting that he's blue.

Happy Thanksgiving to pets!! I did not know that about Black Friday, but since I have a cat that eats everything, food or not, I'll keep a close eye on him!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Turkey skin is poisonous to dogs - causes acute pancreas problems that can be fatal. Turkey bones are another cause of day-after-Thanksgiving vet visits.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

People actually feed their dogs fowl bones without knowing what a hazard they are. Good to know about the turkey skin. We're not having turkey this year. : ( (sad face) MIL doesn't like it and we never cooked it before. I want to learn how, so after the holiday, I'm going to go buy one and cook it just for the three of us.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Raw poultry bones are actually safe, it's when they are cooked they splinter when they break.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

That is true - my cats get lots of raw poultry bones - chicken drumsticks are their very, very favorite treat!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I know when my home is EXCEEDINGLY quiet that the dogs are chewing on their uncooked bones and the cat is stretched out on the bed. There are times when I am truly jealous of my pets ^_^

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Yeah, the cooked ones. I heard that too.

Cute Louise.

Thomaston, CT

LOL, Harper---didn't realize Ollie came out blue---it's because I took a photo of a photo, I guess.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Ollie is so cute, Marilyn........I love that pose....all he needs is a let of law books behind him! LOL

Thomaston, CT

Thanks, Louise! Now that he's full grown, he's a little goofy looking----and acting! He broke a tooth carrying a huge log around the yard.

Here is our first cat, Yoko. My mom brought the pics. Have to scan them but I took a photo of this one. He was the ultimate cat model - incredibly patient.
