Almost forgot the Red-winged Blackbird. They come by the dozens and clean out half the birdseed...then leave, thank goodness!
DAILY PICS - VOL. 255
Yes, I did know it was a Black Vulture, Resin....just wrote the wrong thing....thanks, I'll correct it.
Great shots Rose! I especially love the Downy and Field Sparrow.
Cool photos all!!
I have been hoping to see some fall migrating Purple Finch. So I am watching close! May go down to the lake today and see what I can find. Not a lot going on here right now.
Aww their gorgeous duc!
This flicker is driving me crazy. I'm trying to get more photos of it every day. It's got the color of the Yellow-shafted, but the red mustache of the Gilded Flicker. The only trouble is that the Gilded hasn't ever been seen this far north. Our local birders and Cornell Birds are still trying to decide if it may also be a hybrid. If only I had a longer lens!!
We have had lots of action this morning. The Bald Eagle has returned, Cedar Waxwings are devouring the berries on the Red Cedar trees, had a Pileated Woodpecker land about 6 feet away from me, watched a Ruby-crowned Kinglet and actually saw the ruby dot on the top of the head!! The Robins are still coming through by the hundreds or more and have joined the Waxwings in eating all the berries in sight!
Couldn't get any good shots this morning due to distance or lighting but will share a few anyway. Here are a few Waxwings on the Cedar tree.
Duc...gorgeous shots!! Wow!
Bunches of great pics. Around here, I've seen no new birds.

Bsharf, Excellent photos!! I really love the Yellow-crowned Night Heron!
Rose, That is a great variety!
Rose, it sounds like you're really having a great birding day with all those birds! Hope you're able to get photos of that Kinglet soon. Your Waxwings are beautiful and that Pileated is amazing!! I've only photographed these beauties once and that was at one of our state parks. How exciting!!
Hack, your photos are wonderful too. Wow, what an assortment.
Hey, I don't know what happened to the "skip to new" feature on this thread, but someone's comment made me think I'd missed things and have just gone back to where I could have potenitally been diddled out of some truly amazing shots.
Pelle, the first shot of the Red-tailed Hawk is absolutely phenomenal. Well caught.
Red, that looks to be a very beautiful place overlooking the water.
Still hogging those Buntings, eh, GP?
Duc, the photo of the Oak Titmouse in amongst the berries is such a lovely pic. The photo of the Flicker is brilliant. How amazing to be able to see Bald Eagles cruising by as you sit at the table. Do I need to bring anything other than my camera and a toothbrush?
Rose, as always, your photos of your diverse range of birds are just wonderful. Fancy having a Pileated in your yard.
bsharf, what a great set of images. All fantastic, but I particularly like the one of the Roseate Spoonbill. What a treat.
Oh my bsharf great shots!!!
Duc, thanks for encouraging me, about the early arrival of some of the winter birds in your area. I'll be on the lookout for the Redpolls and tell you, if they made it here earlier, should be interesting.
Rose, that must of been a thrill, to have that Pileated land so close to you. Your farm is a real haven. It has everything the birds need.
LoL, you can start calling Brrr, because that's just how I feel. I can't seem to warm up, this year. I refuse to face winter. But on the other hand I have to say, I prefer seeing the white stuff, to the brown landscape.
This pic of the Canada Geese, was taken in the middle of October.
Great Shots Everyone!! Hack that new camera kicks butt! I don't think Ive ever seen that many Great Egrets that close together, great capture on that one.
Thinks Burd. I'm sure glad I got the 40D. Oh, and the egrets, I only showed a "line", there were really about 3x's that many.
Hack
Great shots everyone!
Dirt, I love the Flicker, Chestnut-backed Chickadee and Junco (Oregon Form)!
Hi adel, Those are beautiful Snow Geese!
Hack, I love the American Coot, Egrets and Herons!
Margaret, Those pics are incredible. I love that White-faced Heron and who doesn't love the Kookaburra's!
