It's Fall in New England #3

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Weeping beech is on my list.
My little itty clethra had about 2 yellow leaves left...I thought it was dying, I guess the other leaves had already fallen off(lol).

Thomaston, CT

Inspiring photos! It's hard to hike with kids---my 4yr old GD wants to turn back & go home---she's very timid in the woods.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Very nice, Bill!

Karen

Huron, OH(Zone 5b)

love the beech.

Scott County, KY(Zone 5b)

That's Koreanspice viburnum (Viburnum carlesii), Bill.

Great colors - seems the last ones are the purples, maroons, and deep reds.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

thx VV that was what i thought - too lazy to look for the tag so i covered my bases as there are two of each in that bed - not surprised at all you would know

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Got my new camera. Haven't opened it yet.

Thomaston, CT

Present?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - for myself. No time yet. Just finished cleaning all day. More tomorrow!

PERTH, Australia

Oooh Victor. What type of camera did you get?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nikon D300S. Had the 300. The new one has added some nice features. It will serve me nicely for a while. My next move might be to a full-frame.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

camera geek :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm getting more and more into it. It is even starting to pass gardening on the interest list!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

What's a full frame Victor?

PERTH, Australia

Oooooh, nice one Victor. It is addictive, isn't it?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes it is, Margaret!

Harp - a full-frame has a sensor that is the exact same size of 35mm film. Full-frames are really the best there is. They are very $$$ and what the pros use. They are fantastic in low light - almost impossible to ever get a noisy (grainy) shot. Only problem - some lenses I bought (DX type) cannot be used with them.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Are they like medium formats?

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Sounds nice, Victor. Have fun with your new 'toy' when you get the chance to use it.

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks, Karen.

No, medium format is even bigger, Kathy.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Yeah, it's like the frame in the camera is around 4"x6" or somewhere around that size. Or is that large format? No, I guess large format is 8"x10". At least in the old film cameras they were. You had to put a cloth over the camera to see the picture properly, and the image would be viewed upside down.

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I think 4 X5 is large and medium is between 35 mm and large.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Okay. Haselblad makes medium format cameras.

Karen

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

whoa. Yup. those are serious cameras!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

ok Victor now you have to come over and take videos for christmas.. since my camera videos stink!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No video camera?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yeah it's about 10 years old... had the dazzle video thingie to connect it to the computer.. that's long gone.. I almost had a heart attack when we went to browse at best buy recently and I saw how tiny the new camcorders are.. I really should buy one

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

I inherited my dad's fancy medium format camera but the light meter isn't working and it's incredibly expensive for film and prints. So I take it out once in a while and wish I could afford to use it! I used an old Speed Graphic 4 x 5 when I was in college. There were lots of cameras in our house.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, the new ones are small. The flip ones are very cool, though without the bells and whistles of the more traditional type. All are hd now.

Kathy - some of the older medium and large format cameras are adapted with digital backings to allow them to be used with sensors.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Victor
If you took lousy pictures I could understand the hesitation but your picks are so well composed I cant see why you hesitate to have the full frame.
I'll be talking with teck msupport all day in order to get my website reactivated, just like the last three days.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Nice pictures Victor, can't wait to see what you do with your new camera.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Hey Pixi

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I wake about 3:30 and stay in bed hoping to go back to sleep but a headache developes so I get up and feed the cats and look at DG to see what interesting posts there are.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

It may have been a sound that I haven't heard in awhile that woke me up too........the snow plow!!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

kryst ,dont tell me that.
I'll have to chat w/ my cousin in Rockland

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh, it's worse..i've lost power 2 X already this morning. Just foe a minute or 2 but it was enough to elict a few choice words from my mouth. lol

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm there Celest.
Its tough enough to wake up when the expected necessities are there but no coffee and no lights and no computer would put me over the edge

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Exactly!! No coffee, not good. No compt. = no DG....very bad! lol

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I am not on many forums so I like to have a large number of posts to read to while away the time until the daylight comes.
I even go into the part of the screen where posts from other forums are to see if there are threads that look interesting

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Me too, and I try to remember to check the birthday list also.
