Forest Pansy redbud from a distance.
It's Fall in New England #3
Very nice, Victor, especially the DR! Did you enter any photos in the contest? I've been working on that today.
Karen
nice color there victor!
I like that Golden Shadows dogwood.
Checked out plantfiles, funny you and Allison have your photos on there for it.
Thanks!
Yes, I did enter a number of them, Karen.
Golden Shadows is a real winner - three season star.
I've really enjoyed looking at all those very artistic photos---the colors are so saturated--and I enjoyed the cows! My yard is sorely lacking in color---even the maple was drab this fall----too much rain, I think.
I agree---the dogwood is very special.
It seems a bit less showy than last year, but not bad overall.
If that (http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=7231022) is a Viburnum, then this is the Kentucky River...
Nice shot of the river, VV!
Karen
Hee hee - you got me. Should be crape. I was looking ahead. Is there a Viburnum Pocomoke???
Back in the valley, VV?
Just got home, and unloaded the Tundra. We were packed to the gills.
No Viburnum 'Pocomoke' - the late Dr. Egolf was pretty careful about not crossing up the genera he was working within (including Lagerstroemia, Pyracantha, and Viburnum though there were probably others). He did tend to stick with the native American tribal names in his work. Left quite the legacy for gardeners.
Due to some mapping mishaps, we missed the Bear Mountain Parkway and the Palisades Parkway, and got to sit in some construction traffic on US 202. We did have the pleasure of encountering Stony Point, West Haverstraw (twice), and Haverstraw at twilight as we cruised up/down river on our way to some of the worst traffic ever (on I-287 and I-95). We eventually escaped it, and landed in Newark DE.
After the rain blew through, we had a fine ride home today. WV mountains are still glorious. We'll see what the Valley still offers come morning...
good catch VV - i think victor threw that you up to send me on a wild goose chase.
i bet it is good to be home

Bummer on the traffic, VV. Lots of work going on around here. 287 and 95 are always packed.
Egolf created some of the best!
Victor that last redwood is beautiful
Thanks, Allison. It's such a great tree.
Very nice, Bill! I especially like the color on the fothergilla. I need one of those.
Karen
Nice, Bill. Fothergilla is one of the best. The absolute best one I have for great, long-lasting color is Itea Saturnalia. It goes on forever. I'll post a pic later.
Just back from a great hike. Lots of nice water shots.
Oh, can't wait to see your shots, Victor!
Karen
Thanks, Karen. Brought my point and shoot with the Gorillapod, so I was able to get nice clear, long-exposure shots.
I sold my dslr and I'm 'trading up' to the new Nikon D300S. Should be here by tomorrow.

Great shot of you and Booj, Kathy! I like that pretty tree.
Karen
Hi Kathy!
Hi Kathy! Nice to see you! How's Boojum today? How are you for that matter?
We are fine. Just finished seeing a group of kids for language therapy in my orchid office and Boojum is snoozing downstairs in the sun and worrying where his daddy went to. Off to clip some bushes and get ready for rose mulching. Possibly raking leaves too.
Ooooo, love that beech tree leaves shot.
Victor, I can't find info on the S300S. Tell me about it. I love my teeny point and shoot, but feel its limitations. If I get a dslr, I'm concerned I won't take the effort to lug it around. I'm grappling with that now. I keep telling myself that it's the photographer, not the camera that takes the beautiful photos and that all I need is some focus and lessons.
Sorry, Harp. Meant D300S. Just edited the post.
I couldn't find it either, only the D300S. I think the camera definitely makes a difference. But you hafta have the eye to begin. I looked at a bunch of the photos in the contest this AM and the best shots are great subject, artsy perspective and a great camera. So sorry-I hope I'm not enabling you Harper!
Oh yes - a good camera only gives a good photographer more options. A point and shoot in the hands of a good photographer will result in much better shots than a good dslr in the hands of a stinky one.
What a cutie Booj is! You mean DBF hasn't even left the property? Is Boojum too lazy to go keep him company?
No worries Kathy! I'll get a dslr as a reward to myself when I get a job!
Great Victor. Now I need the lessons and the camera. I'm sure I have talent in there somewhere. Just gotta hone it somewhat.
