Found it on the roadside

Johannesburg, South Africa

Hi, everybody. Me again, and my ignorance.
Have this flower in my garden, a plant I picked up from a roadside. It's been giving these eye-catching flowers seasonally for the last three or four years. A friend asked me its name the other day. I don't know. Could you kindly help? Thanks.

Just a guess, but it looks like Salvia farinacea.

I agree it is a Salvia, and it does resemble S farinacea. Here is a link for comparison

Well, again thanks a lot. Now I have a name for this flower. It is not perennial here in my garden, because of cold weather and frost for three months - June to August.

jjulio, it will set seed, and can be dug up, potted and kept in a sunny window over winter.

I agree with moonhowl, it is Salvia farinacea. The sage makes your hands smell nice when you harvest the seeds.
