I like the way this Cardinal is framed by the foreground leaves.

Our feeder went out yesterday afternoon. Will have to see who came--I bet chickadees & Tufted titmice.

Marlton, NJ

A Tufted Titmouse at my sister's house down the shore. Don't worry I changed the suet. :-)

We had 6 wild turkeys wandering around the vacant land next to our home. They didn't seem worried that one of our dogs was on the other side of the fence.

Still have at least two California Thrashers that come to the yard for bugs and water.

Pelle, your link was interesting. Funny the Sage Thrasher doesn't have the long beak like our thrashers.

Great photos dragonfly!! I never thought of putting corn out for them.

Marlton, NJ

Good ones Bev!!

I hadn't thought of the corn either but it seems to be in a lot of mixes.

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Git some corn out guys. The Blue Jays like it too. BEV

Corn on the cob, I'd have never thought of that. Thanks dragonfly for another trick.

Edited to ask - How did you attach it, use a big ole nail or something?

Yes you can screw the ear of corn right over the head of the nail and the squirrels can't run off with it.

Great Shots Everyone! This thread is moving fast lol. Got a couple from the day before yesterday, the Marsh was pretty quiet this time. The water is low and only one bird was in the what small pool was left.

This lil White-breasted Nuthatch would not let me take his picture, and the shot I did get, he looked kinda mad so I left. :|

Burd, that first R-b WP shot turned out real nice. Your enhancements did the trick.

Thx Hack, I have one that is visiting my backyard but its been raining, I thought about suet but I like the field corn idea better, itll keep my squirrels busy anyways.

South Hamilton, MA

I'm thinking of trying red pepper suet to keep squirrels at bay. We have enough oak trees to keep them busy without providing extra. Does the heron still find things to eat?

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

Thanks dragonfly, my Jays will enjoy that corn too.
Burd, great photos!!

The poor Bald Eagles always have a Crow escort past our home. This is the first time the crows didn't attack the eagle, just followed closely.

irisMA , I,m sure that the Heron is finding something, maybe some frog's or something, he was fishing on the beach a couple week's ago. I'm going to visit the Marsh again Sunday, he may still be there, but the Marsh is getting that closed for season look about it.

Marlton, NJ

Great shots everyone! Love the Blackbird, Eagles and Herons!

They are having their Autumn Weekend (The Bird Show) in Cape May this weekend. It's a shame the weather isn't better but there are great guest speakers down there like David Sibley and
Scott Weidensaul. Lots of workshops, demonstration's (hawk banding, monarch tagging), field workshop's (hawk id, seabird id, digiscoping, optics), boat trips, book signings. Many other famous people too. Here is a list of their schedule. http://www.birdcapemay.org/autumn.shtml
