Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about what to plant around a septic system?
I have bought a small place in rural Washington State which has a septic system with a huge drainfield that takes up most of the backyard. I have been told that I cannot plant anything but grass right over the drainfield but am looking for shallow rooted shrubs and trees to plant around the perimeter of the drainfield that will not invade and damage the drainfield or septic tank. I am thinking that something that propagates by rhizomes like nandina might be safe. ??? Thank you.
Shallow rooted shrubs and trees??
I would suggest posting your question in the Beginner Landscaping forum instead http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/b_landscaping/all/ This forum is for questions about the Plant Files database, so your question is more appropriate for the Beg. Landscaping forum, plus more people follow that forum so you'll probably get more suggestions there.
