Apropos of Nothing v.3

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

OMG, I was going to BUY some MG seeds. I never knew there so many kinds. What do you have?

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

What do I have? Um... good question. LOL! This lady who has a huge collection sent me a big bundle of different ones, just like 5 seeds of each. But I have a few extras of Scarlet O'Hara/Heavenly blue mix (from my garden) and also Kniola's Black Knight, Akatsuki Blue, and a random mix that I have no idea what it is. I have lots of Star of Yelta. Want anything?

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

*guffaw*

Hey pony, cool flower bed. I can see why your back hurts, though. Even without a previous injury.
I have a box of daylilies that I'm not going to replant if you are interested. They are like the ones I gave you before. If you don't want them I'll take them to the green elephant swap, but if you do want them, you can have them. They are all trimmed and ready to plant.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Ooh... tempting, but I have other plans for the remaining space in that bed, so I'll pass this time. Thank you, though!. :)

No problem. Just don't want them to go to waste.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

What a gorgeous day it was! I actually got a decent amount done in the garden, even though I'm still moving slow. Moved all the lilies around, cut stuff back, pulled stuff up, moved plants from back yard to front, Moved other plants from front yard to back, and sowed a whole bunch of seeds. Not bad for how cranky my back still is.

I'm out of Tagro. I don't exactly need more right now, but I don't like not having it there ready for when I do. Hmph. Actually, I kinda do need some to fill containers with. Guess I'll have to go buy half a yard again. I wonder if my truck will fit past the house to the back yard. It would be nice to keep the Tagro back there out of the way.

Don'tcha love how I just sit here thinking out loud? LOL

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

I had a gab fest with my DH's DD which is always fun and got out about two thirty. In the courtyard. Filled one big garbage can. Still have some more. Hoping the rain holds off until evening.

Your courtyard is so pretty. I'd love to have a space like that. So much nicer than stupid grass.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Pony - sometimes it's easier to think of lawn as an on-site crop that you harvest for your compost. I really appreciate mine in the summer & fall when I am saving the clippings for mixing with fall leaves.
I wish i had dedicated a larger "road" to the back. I do have easy access to a great place in the front, but loading/hauling it twice makes it more of a chore than I'd like.
I need to go pick up some more manure to complete the layered beds.
Crap: running out of daylight & time.
Thinking out loud is a sign of sanity - don't let anyone tell you otherwise! =:0)

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Well I must be super sane then, 'cause I'm always walking around muttering to myself. LOL!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

That is a most gorgeous courtyard, Willow. I would love to have privacy like that, as well as its beauty.

I'm still croaking to myself, Pony...are mutters louder?

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

I think croaking is louder. Or at least more noticeable. Didn't I tell you to get well? What's the holdup? Huh? *stomp*

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

The hold up is that it decided to become a sinus party. And the little drummer boy is pounding a rhythm rhythm rhythm in my head.....non stop.

So yeah...I'm croaking.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Ewww. I hate sinus parties. Time for antibiotics!

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Nothing better than lots of blankets on a chilly & damp day outside.

I have been cleaning up the shade garden and found this large frog under a pile of leaves. He was not happy about being disturbed. It was a great place for him as there was zillions of slugs hiding in the hostas.

Willow, your courtyard is lovely!
Kayte, I envy your ability to go 'pick up' some manure. I wish.
Sinus parties are complete downers. I'm always fighting that this time of year. Generally wake up with a headache. Boo hiss.
Slow headway on the front border. Time is the element which is lacking.

Now, apropos of nothing, does anyone recognize this plant? I believe it came with another plant as a volunteer. I've been growing it on for over a year with some setbacks due to too much sun, lack of moisture during the summer. Possibly an impatiens? It appears to like bright, filtered light and consistently moist soil. Finally, I have a bloom.

Here is a better one of the leaves.
Cute kitty, Beahive. And froggy, too. Both snug as they can be.

And does anyone recognize this visitor to the greenhouse? Friend or foe? He was not too happy about having his photo taken and I could not get a good shot of him. He kept trying to hide behind the light fixture.

Pixy it looks like impatiens psittacina to me from your photo. Very nice,

Here's another shot.

Canterbury bells and crickets?

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

You has a cricket! I have no idea whether they're good or bad for gardens, but I love the sound they make. :)

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

I havetiny 1/2 " crickets here, but I thought maybe Pixie's bug was a cricket and her flower a canterbury bell or bell flower.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Love the garden patio Willow. Nice place for a overhead heater and a nice big cappuccino.
I wish I had crickets. They were my summer night friend when I lived in Michigan.

No, it's not a cricket. I've seen zillions of crickets. This is more of a slow moving, beetle type bug. Maybe I'll post it on the bug forum. I need a better picture of it. The body shape is a little like a stink bug, but longer.
I do think the flower is an impatiens, but not the Parrot flower type. Now that I have time to look, I'll see what I can find. I just thought someone would recognize it easily.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Pixy, what (again< I ask, poor memory here), is the plant with the dainty little purple flowers. Does it reseed or make seed? Rarejem would like some, and I didn't know if I should wait for seeds or take cuttings.
They are one of my favorite plants that you gave me.

Verbena bonariensis, an annual that willingly reseeds in sunny areas. I don't think you got it from me. I have it, but I get only a couple of plants per year. I'd love to have some seeds to put in a sunnier area if you collect some.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Hmmm, maybe it was one of the WS seeds. I will have to look to see if I kept a record on that one.

I have been watching for the seeds, hopefully I will be able to catch them.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Lynn - I have plenty of Verbena bonariensis rooted - like smallish shrubs. I'll bring them along...

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Katye, That is way cool! Thanks.

The ID on my plant is Strobilanthes atropurpureus. Who knew?

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

I think senility has kicked in.

I just went out on the front porch for a smoke. I looked over and saw some cyclamen that I needed to get in the ground, and thought "Oh, I should take care of that." So I grabbed them and my trusty trowel, and started merrily planting them all... only to realize when I was almost done that I was still in my jammies. 0.o

(granted, my "jammies" are yoga pants and an exercise top, but the fuzzy slippers probably looked a little odd...)

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

LOL^_^

I've been known to garden in my pajamas. In the summer that can last well into the afternoon if I'm not careful.

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

LOL regarding the gardening in jammies! Been there...done that! I can never walk out the door without being distracted by at least one thing that "I just have to do really quick". It's a good thing that I don't have neighbors...no one to complain if I water my deck plants in a tank top and my undies! It does however take conscious thought to break that habit when we garden in our house in E-WA!

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Today, Melissa and I went on a cyclamen liberation mission. It went well- we didn't get arrested. :)

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Hmmm.... I picked up some cyclamen today as well, but mine were "liberated" from the almost empty racks at Fred Meyer's...at a fee of $4 each (decided to treat myself for my planter boxes this year as I had to start them over from scratch). Where pray tell were yours liberated from??? Not a pretty wooded area fairly close to Melissa's home I am assuming!
