Apropos of Nothing v.3

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Maybe the people on the ark ate the baby animal that were born on the trip. Thus the need for two of each. UGH

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Ack! Willow! LOL!

(Sharon)SouthPrairie, WA(Zone 7a)

I agree, Ack!, Willow. Also LOL.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

You were smoking hookahs?

Noah's ark, hookahs, flash floods. My goodness we lead a quiet life over here.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Was thinking the same for over here, Laurie....

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Oh....apropos of nothing, I just got this in an e mail this morning....
Maybe it is apropos....

As soon as the rain stops, I must clip the Hostas. Yuck!

How timely was that, Sharron -
Wonderful!
Am glad the menu has been decided..

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Great comic, Sharran.

(Judi)Portland, OR

LOL Sharran

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Timely, for Cabindweller, anyway....not so much rain here.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

A trio of teenage boys was flirting with me at Target. I guess I should be flattered, but really, I'm just kinda squicked. o.0

I shoulda told them I'm older than their Moms, just to see the looks of horror on their faces. But I just rolled my eyes and left.

(Judi)Portland, OR

When I was teaching an architecture studio one of the student teachers assisting me kept trying to ask me out. I told him I was a married woman with a bunch of kids but he didn't stop. Finally I told him to get permission from his mother, who was around my age, and if she approved then fine. He stopped.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

LOL! Well done. :D

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

That was a great cartoon! LOL
Well maybe they just ate the eggs, milk and cheese okay?

Get permission from his mother? What a hoot! Way to blow a man's thunder, Portland!
Pony, I think the hookah needs a new life as something else. Garden art? Perhaps a giant cement mushroom and worm to hold the hookah?

Creatures running to higher ground? I don't want to sound freaky, but that's what happened before Mt. St. Helens blew,, except they were running down hill. At least that's what I heard... And the animals avoided the sunami that killed so many thousands of people, too. Listen to the animals. They know.

Pony, I thought you were not supposed to be working in the yard because of your back??

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh, we'll still smoke the hookah once in a while, in moderation. I don't know why Tracy went on such a smokeathon with it that evening, he's usually more sensible than that.

As for my back and yard work... well, for the past several years, I've been on orders not to lift anything over ten pounds. *snort* AS IF anyone can live that way. I do what I want to do. I wind up in a lot of pain after doing yard work, but screw it... I refuse to quit.

The girl has 'hands on hips' attitude! LOL! Fits right in!

(Judi)Portland, OR

Pony have you tried mild yoga after yard work? I use a 'Yoga for Dummies' video in the privacy of my bedroom. I am not one of those people who swear yoga is the answer to everything, but it really helps my hip arthritis. I'm starting Tai Chi in November - I'm excited! Do any of you do it?

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Judi, I tried yoga briefly a long time ago, and didn't think much of it. I should probably try again though.

Never tried Tai Chi. Let us know how you like it!

Take it from an old person--Nothing gets better if you stop moving.

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Woke up this morning to a computer that would not start. Have been through this three years ago with my last HP Pavillion. Had that one with the geek squad for 6 weeks and brought it home ($300+) in "repairs" and it still would not turn on. Well called HP customer service and the need $49.99 for a two week service help. Well that got me nowhere..so I bit the bullet and bought a laptop to carry me through until my brother can come to Oregon and fix the old one. He fixed the last one I had and it was not the problem Geek squad said it was. Never got a refund from them either. Had to contest the charges on my credit card which was a pain in the neck. All my photo's are on the old computer and I have been lazy and have not backed them up since June. I am glad I got a few posted for the Photo contest before it died. Frustrating as all my favorite web sites are book marked on the old computer...now I must start from scratch again. Darn! Well that has been my day pretty much.

:-(

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Aw man... that sucks, Bea. :(

I built another small "hot" bed today. In it so far are two cannas that I just got from a trade, the DLs that Rarejem gave me, and the DLs I got on clearance at Lowes. I'll add more stuff in the spring.

Pony, I'd walk cross country for those rocks.

Tough, Bea, I hate when that happens.

I have a pounding head and the same drums are beating in my throat. I sound like a frog.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Love the design of the beds with the sections. Great rocks.

Bea Sorry about your computer. Maybe you will be able to get your pictures off the old one.

When I got my new one I didn't transfer my address book so I lost them all. But I'm not getting spam yet. I changed my address.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Sharon, I adore frogs, but I'd prefer you didn't turn into one. I love you the way you are. (Ponyspeak for "get well soon!")

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Willow - spot on about "moving".
I always feel better when I am in motion, and will attribute that to my being hyper.
I've been coddling my wrist the past (almost) 3 weeks, and not being able to finish has driven me to the brink. Mowing the lawn is a great butt-burner, and weeding is, well, cleansing. Sort of... During which, I discovered seedlings of an evergreen Stachys that I have. I will be potting up the babies & hope to be able to spread the joy next Spring. Which, by the way, is just over 6 months away. Oh that sounds like it's not reachable, & last Spring was forever-ago. Not real happy about the weather curtailing my harvests, but I do like the colours.

Nice rocks, Pony!!!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

CroaKKK. (Frogspeak for Thank you, Pony.)

(Judi)Portland, OR

LOL Willow - keep moving!

Hate those computer troubles. I rarely back up files because I'm too lazy.

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Pony, Your mini "hot" bed looks great! My DL's will be in heaven, and I was going to suggest putting your purple ones in with them...I have a dark purple with mine and it is the ultimate contrast! If you have any spring bulbs left to plant, they would be the perfect touch for spring color. It was great seeing you again, and I can't wait to see how your bed progresses this spring!

Judi, I have never done tai chi, but have always wanted to try it. You will have to let us know how you like it!

Willow, you are right about the keeping moving... my husband and I always joke about getting up before rigor mortis sets in....

Sharran, Hope you feel better!

Bea....I am so disapointed for you regarding your puter.... especially for the photo contest! You have so many awesome pics... hopefully you managed to get "froggy scissorhands" in before the crash. Puters are so great until they die... You will fall in love with the laptop thought.... nice to be mobile!

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

I already planted all my bulbs, but I may stop by Lowes and see about picking up just a few more. It would look funny to have that be the only bed out front with no tulips or daffodils come spring...

Dallas, OR(Zone 8a)

Do not want to sway the voting but I think my little scissorhands may be lerking in the photos. Not sure if he is calender material however. I used a lap top during my last job but I do prefer a desktop as I can get a larger screen and a larger keyboard which helps when you have poor old lady vision and carpel tunnel. I did buy a larger lap top than I had before and it is working Ok for now. Just need to get used to it and learn where evrything is. Sure miss all my files. Hope they can be saved as I have taken many photos since June.
Rainy & windy today..guess I will do laundry & more cleaning around here. Working on seed sorting and may post a list of free seeds I have later as I know I have way to many.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Pony, where did you get those "to die for" rocks?
Love your beds!

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Got the rocks on Craigslist. Free. :D

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Pony, that is a find. I guess I had better spend more time on CL!
I think I remember now, you were talking about the rocks and hurting your back.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

That could have been any one of the many loads of rocks/concrete chunks I've hauled in since I got my truck. I trash myself every time. hehe. ;)

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Since this thread is Apropos of nothing, I have something to share with ya'll.

I bought a set of microfiber sheets from Costco last week. They are soooo comfy, love them. I was skeptical when I bought them, worried they would be too hot, but they are not. I hope they won't get those dreaded little bumps on them after washing. I don't think they will.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

On the Co op forum, they have an interest thread for Summerhill Seeds. Last year, the orders qualified for 35% discount. Looks like there will be a huge selection. Like I need more seeds! If there are seeds that any of you want, but do not want a whole package, I would be willing to split the costs. I like variety.

(Pony) Lakewood, WA(Zone 8a)

Ooh. Never tried microfiber sheets. They sound nice. I love flannel sheets, we only have one set, I need to get more.

Nooooo moooore seeeeds.... OMG I have way too many kinds of seeds now. I'll never have room for all of them! (seriously- for example, I have 25 different kinds of Morning Glory now... eeeek!)
