LOL Dave! Good one!!!
Coffee Break #20 - Baseball weather??
Dave - yes the sox have a very high payroll about 120 million - it still does not come CLOSE to the evil empire's 200 million+ - there is a 80 million dollar difference give or take - there are many teams that do not even have a 80 million dollar payroll - so get a grip
i did think the tag play at third was an out - although close - it was swishers own fault - too much body movement before he goes makes it look like he leaves before he actually did
regardless officials have been unbelievably bad through out the playoffs - and i can't stand the announcers either. just as bad as the officials - the play the other night when jeter caught abreu trying to get back to second - claiming he had no help when the second basemen and that goofing running first basement who was covering second on the play are SCREAMNG at jeter to go to second. morons!
Very funny Dave!
Thanks, Joyce. I'll leave them in the ground and see what happens. As I got home from my hike before, a sizable buck was in the same bed! So maybe it was him?? The points of break-off were pretty low.
Could have been him. Or maybe he told his friends there was a japanese buffet in that spot:-)
NY payroll is 200 million. Does that include what they pay the refs ?
In the playoff game with Minn, Mauer hit a ball to left field. It landed 3 feet inside the foul line. The ref called it foul.
I say call the whole baseball thing FOUL!
It won't straighten out until they get a replay on every close play & some kind of salary cap so teams are equal. When they are done with that they could have all outfield fences the same distance from homeplate.
One of the Yankees hit a home run at THEE yankee stadium that barely clear the fence, a whole 316 feet. My MIL could hit it out of the park there & she is 91 yrs old.
Bernie, still in "Fly Over Land"
Please send MIL to the Mets spring training camp next year!!
You guys are too funny about BB ^_^
They got Minn best pitcher, wasn't that enough ?
Obviously not!
DH has used fox urine in chipmunk burrows. He got it at an Ag. co-op. A bit on the basebaths at Yankee stadium might help. Try it on your woodchuck.
Woa! That video of the guy almost getting clobbered was something else! Lucky guy!
Oh, Victor, that's a horrible loss on your JM's! I would be thinking of murder about now. Patches, go get 'em!!!!!!
Could have been the buck, Victor. We had deer chew up a bunch of beech tree seedlings we had relocated to our place last year. They are coming back just fine, so hopefully they won't get eaten again before they can get some size to them.
Karen
Weird I don't really see any teeth marks on it.
I noticed bad calls against the Yankees too. One stole at least a run from theYanks.
But lets lighten up folks. This is supposed to be fun. I like baseball. Including the Twins (great organization) and even the Red Sox (don't quote me).
I hear you Dave but we can all get a litlle rankled when our boys/girls are playing. I admit I can be very undahlialike about beach volleyball and golf (blush) so I am very easy/peasy about momentacious emotional reactions.
i saw that missed double play at third the halo's should have had on sports center tonight - it is almost like the ump's are TRYING to get instant replay to happen
I think replay should be used a lot more in all sports.
A woman running for the legislature in NJ has a business selling 'toys'. Seems like a natural segue to me!
Adult toys?
Dave!!
I thought the same thing and did not ask:)
Yes. I would not have used quotes otherwise, nor made the joke.
wow - obviously not a republican:)
Hmmmm......
Actually she is.
More bad umping in the game.
6-4 Yanks! All runs with 2 outs. Amazing.
Until it got worse. Actually, pretty exciting game. I think they need to christen the new stadium.
They let that one get away. Bummer.
halo's live another day!
Money don't come in if the games end.
Ironically, The Angels were the original "best team money could buy". Gene Autry, bless his soul, did everything he could to amass an all star team to win. But they never did. Check out this line-up: http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CAL/1982.shtml .
The best the Orioles, A's, Twins etc had to offer.
Jeter, Posada, Cabrera, Rivera, Pettitte, Gardner, Canoe, Hughes, Chamberlain, - all not free agents. A positive comparison to any big league market team.
Also amazing that 20 of the Yanks 26 world championships (best in sport) came when there was no free agency and money didn't really matter.
I agree the rules should change. In the meantime, the Yankees will play by the existing rules .Their money is gonna go to the Steinbrenners or to players.I vote for the the players.
May be so, but 200 million is obscene. How many countries have smaller budgets than that?!!
There is no disputing that the Yanks lead that race and represent how it's gotten so out of control.
Worse thing about watching the playoffs is the endless stream of Viagra and Cialis commercials. How many guys have, er, problems with their 'game'?!! The warnings that are read are the best. Four hours?!! 'If you suddenly lose your sight or hearing, call the doctor'. (I can just see the wife cutting all the phone lines. ^_^)
side effects sound worse than the problem!
Yes the Yankees symbolize all that. But hey, If it wasn't for us, the Mets would be the obscene team. Then the Cubs, Sox....
It's silly to say that $200 million is obscene but $149 million is fine. Especially when there is are teams spending "only" $36 million.
So we take the heat for all the big-spending teams because we are the highest. It goes with the territoy. I truly feel for the Marlins, Twins, A's trying to compete But as I said, its funny to me when Mets & Sox fans try to make this point.
No viagra here. This really is being marketed as a recreational drug. There arenotthat many people with a medical problem. And I think insurance pays.
I certainly was not saying 149 is okay. The only thing worse than spending all that money is spending all that money and still sucking! It's all obscene to me. As is $12 for chicken fingers and $9 for a small fruit salad! (Yankee Stadium)
Larry the Cable Guy was on the other night discussing Viagra. The 4 hour thing, he was wondering what you do with it the other 3 hrs 58 minutes.
They must sell a lot of it to afford all the commercials.
Twins had about 4 of their best players injured at playoff time. There were a couple guys in starting line up that wouldn't even make most teams, even the Twins if everyone was healthy.
i am sick of the ads as well - not so sure they are only recreational purposes - a guy i worked is in his early seventies and the little blue pill improved his life (and his wife's) dramatically. His doctor shut him off once until he got his blood pressure down - you never saw someone so dedicated to eating right and losing a couple pounds!
I find ALL the drug ads just plain too funky weird. There is one for high cholesterol which says some people who take it die but that's ok cuz they won't have high cholesterol. HUH???? O wait I guess you win if you die healthy (snort).
Kinda like the menopause meds......they scared me into NOT taking them. I'll go the old fashioned route and take my chances with Mother Nature. ^_^
