what kind of pesticide to use on a mulberry tree

hi, Anyone know what is safe to use on mulberry trees. scotts said they don't have anything. thanks

Something is having a good old time with your leaves. Try a spray for fruit trees.

from what i can see, i'd say a caterpillar of some kind. if you don't know for sure, but suspect caterpillars, spray with Thuricide (Bt). it's an organic product that will only kill caterpillars when they munch on the leaves. they get a stomach ache and die. it's not instant, takes about a week for them all to die but it is totally safe.

I hope it helps... without better pics and some observations, we seem to be shooting a little in the breeze, but BT is used up here as well.... it seems to depend on save the tree or save the harvest.. spray the tree if you are a homeowner and not focusing on a grove.

No Track, not the same person, I believe this same thread is located in two or three different forums and has been replied to by a variety of folk. thin JJ saw it on Fla forum and carried your response here .....Have run into that a few times before....even found a couple that I had responded to and remembered responding, just not in that forum.


It is not nice to confuse us older folks....makes us wonder if not having a strange senior moment....grin

Fdenised posted the pictures...look at the intro to this forum, there are two or three of the mulberry and I think fdenised also posted it in plant ID and maybe Fla Forum

Looks like this person has two personas on Dave's. One in Connecticut and one in Florida.

i was curious, and posted it on the fla forum focus people... TWO DAYS WITHOUT A RESPONSE - I have rarely if ever seeen more than six hours.... the tree is in Florida and I am interested in the mulberries, but a very, pest populated area up here.. this is fdenised post and had no replies for two days... I feel that between the experience of the group and my curiosity on mulberry tree... two days witout a response was EXTEREMLY INADEQUATE.. I sought a response personally.. Albeit a membership is required in the Fla. forum.

just wanted to help him out and maybe he would become a member, thanks for your patience ..always want to help a newbie

Kind of you to help, JJconcepts, but it is less confusing to everyone if you post a link back to the non subscriber's thread than to post their thread in a different forum.

We're not professionals, just gardeners...and we respond if we think we know the answers. But sometimes we don't. And we're not sitting at our computers all day long either. Sometimes a question takes time to get answered. That's just the way it is.

jj, if i understand what you are saying, you took someone else's picture and posted it in other threads for a quicker response, which is ok, but you really need to have permission from the owner of the picture, or at the very least, give credit to pictures and/or responses when they are not your own. as far as being "extremely inadequate", well, as ceejay alluded to, sometimes these things take time. we are not bound to a 6 hour response time or any time for that matter. we do what we can.

The point was never to be aggressive or misleading, The understanding that the post was made on their behalf was there in an original - and non responsive thread - this is not the first attempt for fdenised to get a response of any kind. Some question's just can't be answered - but acknowledgement of the posts helps maintain the friendly atmosphere I enjoy daily in dave's and is (i'm sure) appreciated daily by thousands.
I do realize how slow the responses can be to unusual or out of the norm quesions. (most every other forum or thread at least a hello - or an acknowledgement is given to somene. Even if just to welcome a newbie, and almost always within hours keeping this a very friendly, funny, educational, and courteous site.

No one is held to time, but being user driven as furums are - by definition - a general attempt at courtesy was attempted and will be handled differently in the future. I apologize for misunderstandings, or any breach of etiquette perceived or real .

Thank you for airing concerns, and all apologies to fdenised for temporarily hijacking the thread for the chatter on the thread. A few pm's to me or from me if there were questions may have been more appropriate, effective, and respectful to this thread, to air concerns.
