Oh boy have I missed a lot in the last few days!
"M" and "T" and "J" my powerful positive energy is flowing to you and your loved ones, attached to each is a prayer.
I am very Blessed with knowing you all and with my family and the fact that I live in Canada, the best place to be in the World. I like to remind myself of this and count my blessings.
In the mean time we are having great fun with Halloween!
Here is my front yard:
What's happening in your neck of the woods? #23

Harry on the left is the "old fart" and that is what it say's on the back of his whoopie costume, then it's me and the Witch is the Boss the butcher is my workmate. We had a spooktacular day today!!!
Now on to the littleones evening tomorrow. Yahoo!! Fun fun fun.
From ME to THEE ^-^

Annabell .. the pics are wonderful :-)
Love the bats in the window of your house .. and your work costumes are super. Enjoy tomorrow evening !!
~M~
Loved it! Jacquie Lawson is the best!
Thanks for the card, Marilynne.
Been mostly lurking. Read with interest how far some of you will drive to the US border. For us here in Ottawa, it's about an hour - less if I lived on the west side of town close to the highway that goes south. We sometimes have large purchases sent by courier to a depot in Ogdensburg, NY. Have to be pretty special items though to be worth driving down there to get.
We're almost ignoring Halloween here at home. Will go to DD's house and answer the door while DD and DSIL are out with the kids tomorrow evening. And apparently DGD wants to interview me for a Brownie badge about games I played when I was a kid.
I think I should look into getting some tree-faces. :-)
Joanne - I hope things are looking up for you. But you are entitled to some bad moments from time-to-time. And I hope we can support each other through such moments.
We are just in from a viola recital. Rennie Regehr, who is viola prof at the University, gave a very nice recital this evening along with his wife Jennie on piano. Those of you from the Winnipeg area might know of them as they hail from there.
And a large part of last week was spent working on the newsletter for the Canadian Viola Society. I hope to get it to the printer by mid-week so that I can get it in the mail well before we go to Germany on Nov. 17 (day after our next Ottawa Symphony concert).
It will be a busy couple of weeks.
Have a good night.
Ann
awwwwwww thank you for giving us the link to yet another wonderful Jacquie Lawson scene! Obviously she's a DG'er too!! (who isn't?!?! lol)
~Susan~
~~ waving to ViolaAnn!! been a long time since we've seen you, and I'm glad you're here ^_^
From Winnipeg, but not familiar with the names of Rennie and Jennie.
Echos - how about you?
I'm feeling much better. I've had about 13 hours sleep in 23 hrs lol
That, and taking ColdFX (developed in Calgary at the U of C). My bronchial cough is almost gone, and I'm not feeling like coughing much at all. I know I was run down by not enuff sleep, too. I took the day off work, but still checked in on my emails, of course lol
Take care everyone, and have a good evening ^-^ ♫♪♫♪
~Susan~
hahahaha thank u, Donna!!

It is a beautiful +14ºC day. Perfect for my small project of running power to the GH. I plan to have a decorative yard light near the corner of the GH and 20 amp service plug inside. We needed to get the line trenched in before the ground freezes, since I start up the GH March 1st and it would be impossible to hand dig the trench then.
We must have all been outside today enjoying the fine weather. It was +15 here so I took advantage of it and wrapped all my Hybrid Tea Roses and Heather. I am officially done winter preparations. Yahooooo!
Was a great day here as well, once the rain blew away. sunny and 15. I carved the pumpkin outside and it's waiting for the first kids. We might get 20-25kids so we have treats that we like too. LOL
Zippety doo dah in the 'trick or treater' dept here last evening. Not really all that uncommon as the driveway is quite long .. and .. DARK AND SCARY LoL !!!
Attempted to watch .. 'Rocky Horror Show' last night (on the tube) .. have NEVER seen it .. and .. I consider myself LUCKY to have never seen it .... LOL .. am thinkin perhaps you have to be under 25 to GET it .. simply put .. I was BEwitched Bothered but mostly BEWILDERED after the first half hour ... since it's a movie from 1975 .. it WAS kinda neat to see Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick at such young ages .. I gave up after 40 minutes .. back to the WEATHER CHANNEL LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Weird how this time change, the fall back, is so much easier (at least for me) to assimilate to than the SPRING ahead !! I could see the whole yard at 7am .. kinda nice .. and the sunrise was magnificent.
Enjoy your day everyone .. of 'n running here

ah Betty - I'm with you on the Rocky Mountain Horror Show... I can 't watch it - too campy I guess.
There are those at our Bowling "do's" that dance to it, and they're our age. Guess they started watching it when it came out. I didn't.
We had no one at our house, and others had 4 or 6. Another lady had 30 at hers!
Because of this, there were a lot of treats being served at our after-church-coffeetime today........ lol
Today I'm working on finishing the Tote Bag for the Swap, then it's on to the apron for my buddy!! :-)
Hope to have it done before US Thanksgiving - I have all the ideas and the material. Should be done quickly, I think ^_^
Have a wonderful day, everyone!!
~Susan~
we had about 40 kids. Frost this morning, then by mid day some fools were in shorts and others had their convertible roofs down. Sunny and 13 and probably more frost tonight.
Quiet day here, just making soup from the old Thanksgiving turkey. (we froze the left overs, it sounded like we had the leftovers still hanging around in the fridge.)
Hope you all are keeping warm
OMG...I'm just feeling more than 'sick to my tummy'
Been so busy in my own life that I in the past few days just skimmed over the post and how did I miss that unfortunate post...
What's happening in your neck of the woods' says it all..this thread contains gardening, friendship, prayer, support, and most of all KINDNESS!...
I'm with the others..if you don't like what is being said, then simply click off as you've clicked on...
Life has a habit of bringing sadness to our lives, we hope for smiles and chuckles but all of us know, that's not what life is about...
The greatest thing the Lord has provided us with is compassion for others in need or caring for loved ones...reality is that at times some have missed the boat...
OMG do continue with your day to day bests/ worse and what comes into yours lives...
I'm included Lorna in my prayers as well as a few prayers for others who today I'm sure is in need....
"M" you must be frantic about Lorna...she has a dear friend in you..
Susan, prayers as well for your loved one...
I'd love to say much more but I'd not be on DG for very long...
OK, let's get back to visiting with friends!...
Friday I got off work early to go to Ganz Christmas shopping..because I was early and had a few hours before meeting the gang I dropped into the Kayak store and picked up a few items for Jeff for Christmas..then to Michaels..golly gee, had the girls not arrived to leave for the city I'd have spend all my $$$...Ganz had some fabulous deals..picked us about 25 gifts..you know the kind for people just dropping in or the ones you just feel should have a treat...cute as a button..ohhh bought some flower pots, will post a photo for you to see...
Sat. morning almost before dawn I was at TimBrr's for wood, cut all day and much the same for Sunday..all the kits for my 3rd. DG Workshop have been cut..at lunch it's off to Michaels for decorative supplies and hopefully by tonight they will all be packaged up...quiet here today, thank goodness, finally need a day of rest..but I'll get the labels done..
Promised I'd go to MacTier and teach an Iris Folding Christmas Card class on the 10th so am working on those kits..
Boss won't be in till tomorrow for a few hours at which time I'll ask for Friday off...going to Buffalo shopping, will mail out all the kits (except for 2 canadian bound kits) and then there is a 450 vendor Christmas Craft sale and some Christmas shopping time to book...
November for me is a right off...busy/busy...
Am sure it's the same for you...
Thank you Betty - you're a Godsend in your gentleness and sweetness
I know I speak for the people in this thread, who enjoy your thoughfulness and kindness, when I say - thank goodness for you and your ilk.
Tomorrow I should hear about my sister's results........
Have a terrific day, everyone!!
~Susan~
I love those pots, Betty! Where did you find them?
Wow, Betty. You sure keep busy with all that work. The pots are lovely.
Don, there is a warehouse sale every year at Ganz in Toronto..went on Friday and got a lot of goodies..if you look at the teapots (cup in the bottom and pot on top) you'll see that they are a great bargain for $5.00
I give Christmas gifts to nearly everyone...lol..my time of year...my husband used to say , if you are in the telephone book you must be on Betty's Christmas list...God bless his soul...often think of him going on and on but he loved it every bit as much as I...infact..after I'd done my list he had a list of his own....
Wow, that is a great bargain. Well, we don't have a Ganz, but I'll keep my eyes open and see if I can find them elsewhere. Thanks.
I love Christmas - my fav time of year.
It may just be myself & DH, but I decorate the house To The Hilt! lol
I bought my christmas presents a month ago, and also got some new decorations lol
Well, I'm exhausted already - 1st day back at work after being sick.
I don't think I'm entirely over it (my face is tired, and I have a headache.......) but I can't take any more time off. It "hit the fan" with a vengence today.
Take care my lovely sistahs!
~Susan~
Don..Ganz actually is one of the largest 'teddy bear' manufacturers.....the teddies they have on sale at the sale range from $2.00 to $5.00..guess they deal with many companies because they have from purses, to kitchenware, to candles/ decorations for every season..will have to take more photo's of some of my bargoons.....they are open for only 3 to 4 weeks..I just might make one more trip before Dec. 5th..lol..can't resist a bargain..
Susan, me thinks you went back too early....
maybe, Betty...... but then there's no one (and I do mean no one) who can take over my job, so I'd come back to More Work and it would be worse when I did return.
I love my job, but it can be a bit of a "bear" at times LOL
Each division has it's own specialty, and terminology. I got "thrown" into this job in Apr/08, and it's grown exponentially since (try like 4x the amount of knowledge & work!), so I couldn't start this job just "off the street" so-to-speak, as I did back then. I made this job my own and, like me, it's intense ^_^
I am feeling much better now. It was a real rush when I got here this am, but I'm better now. Now, if I could find an extra 8 hours in this day........ LOL
I don't have anything going on tonight, except for handles for my Tote Bag...... and I can spend a bit extra at work tonight. And...... get this!....... I only have One teleconference this week that I need to setup!!! I can hardly believe it! The other one for this week is at another bldg & They set it up lol
Betty - you're a jewel for being concerned - don't think I don't appreciate it, I do, most assuredly! ^_^
Love to all - have a great evening!
~Susan~
AKkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk .... did someone say the 'C' word !!!!!!!! YES they did ..... ^_^
No way out of it, so, I guess I had best just grin and bear the season .. just do so detest the capitalism of it all I guess.
GOOD news in my 'neck of the woods' Lorna is coming home on Wednesday .. hoot hoot !!!!!
Have been feverishly tidying as I have a team (or a person) coming to assess the home for any 'issues' .. kinda want them to, but, as I am sort of NUTS about having people see a clean house .. well .. ya catch my drift.
This team. or person, will tell us the equipment needed to make things easier here .. sure is going to a whirlwind next few days !!!!
The moon looks extra specially awesome in its fullness tonight .. enjoy
~M~
Sunny and +11ºC or 52ºF
Went to a ski hill (near Banff) for work today. I went 1/2 way up the mountain in a truck with chains on the wheels and the rest of the way up on a snowmobile. The dude driving the snowmobile was hanging off it for balance most of the time. I hung on white knuckled the whole way. When I got to my destination, I was a little wobbly legged and a bit concerned about the ride down. The slopes are very steep and we snowmobiled up it in a zig zag. The snow making machines were going full tilt, so there were spots that were like going thru a blizzard. It's been 20 years since I downhill skied in the mountains and I don't think I will be skiing anytime soon...too scary.
you went there for work, Joanne?
hoo boy - I haven't been on a snowmobile since I was a teenager! I haven't been skiing (either downhill or cross-country) since about 30 years ago!! the last time I went downhill skiing my sister was an instructor. It was spring break and I went on the bunny hill. Going down I coudn't stop and almost ended up in the ski shack!!
I can understand your wobbly legs!!
It was beautiful out today, wasn't it? The sun came out and it was Glorious! (then it hid again lol)
We've got to enjoy these beautiful days! I love Chinooks lol
Susan
Good gosh Joanne .. I would have worried re avalanches fer sure !!! I hope the job was worth it .. glad you're safe.
Our Laurentian Mountain chain in and around Thunder Bay provides hours of ski fun iffin yer into that stuff .. I do XCountry ski .. I tend to think a majority of TBayites do because of the Finnish heritage in the area. Some of the XCountry skiers are over 80 yrs old ~~ it is a serene sport .. and not too hard on the old bod ^_^
Up early .. time to AGAIN start tidying and semi re organizing .. I swear, I could do this for a living !!!
Enjoy your day
~M~
Rain has stopped, omg what a beautiful day out there..you know, they are calling for mid teens for the weekend...cross your fingers the snow stays away until that 'C' word that "M" doesn't like...
You'll be sorry "M", it's coming you have to get with it or you'll be panicking instead of enjoying those Christmas tunes...lol...you'll say, Betty had the right idea..get it done early!' know you will!
Wonderful news...omg, I've seen photo's of your place, no mess there..am sure the visit will go wel...you worry too much...
OHHH skiing, kids enjoy Blue Mountain in Collingwood, son in Quebec and of course our own Moonstone Hills..they tried to get me skiing, went up the lift after taking lessons, I'm terrified of heights...walked down with skii's in hand and that was the end of that...lol
Joanne, you were brave...I so love snowmobiling...trail pases here are now $200. for the season, imagine...think it was about $25.00 when we first started to buy them....
I hope everyone is one the mend today, and that you have lovely weather.
Today it was sunny, but cool. I spent 7 hours working on my cold frame/GH. I've managed to use recycled wood and windows for all but the roof. That I bought a 4x8 clear pvc wavy thing a ma jig. It's about 75% done so I'll take a photo tomorrow, if I can move....
Stilll nice weather here but of course no gardening to be done except raking leaves off the lawn almost every day!
Not being very social , thinking it is better to avoid crowded stores because of the HlNl flu and I have not had a vacination yet. Well that saves me some $$ too!
Just had Lilly out, and, as I stood there watching a deer graze on the grass .. it started to SNOW .. however .. the temps are too warm to see it last I am sure !!
May not be able to SPRING Lorna from hosp today. So much prep work required!! Home assessments, equipment pick up and/or delivery, meds ... sheesh ... but .. even one more days stay would be OK as she KNOWS she is coming home !!
Am sure once she gets home she'll be looking around at what I have done with the perennials and suggesting I add or subtract here and there. The gardens miss her touch !!
Take care all
~M~
We had a few flurries here yesterday as well..didn't amount to anything but lordy 3 major accidents taking lives...hail/ice/snow can't imagine why people don't slow down...
Cold out there today but high temps for the weekend..wouldn't you know, I leave Friday morning for Buffalo and Hamburg....ohhhh big craft show, 450 vendors in Hamburd...looking forward to it..
Guess "M" Lorna will be disappointed in not getting out...sending prayers for her....
Is hunting season going on right now in your neck of the woods...I've seen a few deer as well, thinking it's because they KNOW the hunters are in the bush so they come out...lol
Fancy, don't you hate it when you feel 'unsociable'..the odd time (very odd) I don't apreciate my own company so I just stay along until I do..lol
painting santa faces here in the office and then have 100 cards to make templates/kits for a workshop I'm doing Tuesday...lordy it's almost 11 and I feel I've done so little (craft wise)...
Enjoy the day!
Betty dont get me wrong, not because I feel unsociable, just thinking better to avoid crowds!
I have lived alone all my adult life ( well except for the critters ) so I dont really have any problem with my owbn company!
I know exactly what you mean, Fancy - I'm a sociable person, but when I feel like it, I'm certainly able to say - don't like crowds, and feel like being by myself "Thank You Very Much" lol
It really gives you "Me" time, and helps to quieten my spirit (well, for me, anyway).
It's the time when I either like absolute quiet in the house, or to turn on my fav music (Roger Whittaker's "Yele" - cranked UP). When it's late spring, I like to find a quiet wooded area and listen to a babbling brook and be in green space (or even at my back yard or hot tub - quiet and green).
It's very refreshing......
~Susan~
Girls just left..time for a coffee and a few minutes of relaxation then bedtime for me...
Took a photo of the deer they are doing..yet remaining is the wreath around the neck, lights and stake ... sometimes it's fun doing primitive painting..no stress..lol...all decided that they will find the largest outdoor plant pot they have, go get cedar/pine etc and build the arrangement around him for outside..should look pretty when done..
Time for bed...
