I just received a blanket flower and prairie mallow that I ordered from Gurney's. The blanket flower is dormant with a couple of green shoots and the prairie mallow is potted with green leaves. We are already having cold nights in the 20's, a little early for Missouri (Zone 5) and I am wondering what is the best thing to do with them. Should I go ahead and plant them now, didn't know if I should pot the blanket flower to start them rooting or what. Thanks for your help!
Planting perennials in the fall
If they are listed as hardy in your zone, you can plant them now and mulch them in well for the winter. If not hardy, pot them up and protect them from freezing temps until spring.
