Daily pics - vol. 249
I wish I could comment on all the gorgeous birds, but the chef is preparing dinner and you all know just how temperamental chefs are.
Absolutely fantastic shots, Rose. I love the pic of the White-crowned Sparrow.
Pelle, you must be dreaming birds by now. What a wonderful variety you've seen and captured. The one of the Yellow-rumped Warbler is beautiful. Good capture on the Osprey and Northern Harrier. I would dearly love to go to Cape May.
Great action shots of the Egret, tiger.
Well, a dull and freezing day at the Osprey nest with very little action. However, the Rainbow Bee-eaters are back from overwintering up the north of the state to nest and rear their young in the south. They aren't crisp shots because I really had to push the camera to its limits in the gloom.
Great Series, Margaret. Looks like you had another great visit to the cape, Pelle.
Yes I'll be heading down again early tomorrow morning.
Great pics Marg!
Not silly at all, just catching fish!
Resin
Hi nanny, Yes the Titmouse are wonderful! Nice shots of the sparrow. I haven't seen any here yet but there have been numerous sightings around the state.
Yes I knew he was fishing Resin. I never was able to see what if anything he caught.
Since more birds are starting to show up in the yard I decided to treat them to a different better mix for a while. Wild Delights "Woodpecker, Nuthatch, Chickadee Food". It's a great mix!

Nice pics Chris! I love the Goldfinch on the Black-eyed Susan.
Thanks everybody for sharing your pics! Coming here always makes my day.
I just got back from a quick trip to near Juno, TX, in Val Verde County, which is about a 7 hour drive Southwest of where I live and in much different terrain. I'll post some pics of the birds I know from there, and I've posted some on the ID forum that I need help with.
This Vermillion Flycatcher was the first bird I saw when I got out of the truck!
Well, I got back. The reunion was a success, but the birding wasn't. I made it to the observation deck, about 1/2 a mile one way - but the deck, what a joke. It went out about 75 ft and dead-ended in the middle of an overgrown swampy area - thick vegetation. Later I was told that it used to stop out in the open water on the edge of the "swamp", but they had to lower the water level to do some work on the dam, and in the meantime, the area around the observation deck grew up and they never have gone back to re-work it.
I hung around and didn't see anything. I do better here at the house, as far as seeing birds goes.
But the ride over was real pleasant.
This pic was taken from one end looking out to the end.
