It was 94 degrees today breaking an all time record with a heat index of 106. Tomorrow will be 94 again with a heat index of 107.
You don't have to say where you are from because we all know where one another live..........
Tomorrow the winds will be 50mph preparing for our cold front on Friday morning!! It might even get down to 50 degrees the weather forecaster said.
We need a picture for this thread...........I would really like to know your weather so I can feel some zone envy..smiling...........
Nematanthus Tropicana
Just for Fun, Tell us Your Weather?
Hot, humid, and miserable!
It was better today, but barely . . . here is what it is right now . . .
88°F
RealFeelŪ 90°F
Winds: SSE at 15mph
Partly Sunny
Humidity: 58%
Dew Point: 72° F
Pressure: 29.81 in
Visibility: 10 Miles
Well, we are not quite as hot but I think it made it up to 91 degrees today. I kept turning down the air because my poor dogs were panting. So sick of this! I swear, our summers are 5 months long down here, LOL! Sometimes it is even hot on Halloween! I guess the good thing is we don't get snow and sometimes we are in shorts for Thanksgiving:)
Pat
Nichole, it is in the high 80's now, here, too.
Zozzle, I am surprised. I thought Florida had heavenly weather............Ask Nichole if this an accurate statement I am going to post. We have summer and winter...........no fall..........little spring..........so we have summer 10 months out of the year almost.
Record high of 93 here today.
Today it was a windy 83 degrees with a low tonight of 52.....my kind of weather!!
Right now it's 62 degrees and going into the low 40's tonight. We had 45 mph winds today so there are branches down everywhere. The forecast is for the same temperature range for the next several days. It's certainly not hot and humid here anymore.
I just went outside to take pics for Turtlechi to show her that her plumerias are all going to live and even have new foliage. The humidity was so high I couldn't take pictures as........as soon as I would clean the lens, they would fog up again.
I would love to see 62 degree weather during the day and 40's at night............I see you have the winds, too, Pat.
Gardenpom, yours is no better than ours!!! And Melanie is loving her mild 83 during the day and cool nights.................
I did get one neat pic to show Susan her plumerias are loving this heat......they came to me without leaves.........and look at this...2 weeks in the pot.
We had a very brief cool off last week, then right back to the summer heat.
Gail,
Central Florida (Orlando) is hot from sometime in April through some of October. Our fall season is pretty warm compared to other places and the leaves don't change color much they just fall off the trees and make a mess, LOL! We do have a pleasant, short spring and then we go into our lonnngggggg, hot, humid summer. I am sure in another state my wavy hair would be straight.
Pat
Zozzl, our March can be either hot or cold......same with April..........but once May hits, it is hot until December or January.
Gail is right . . . we have summer and winter. Spring lasts for a few weeks. Winter is intermittent . . . it can be below freezing for 2 nights, then have springlike weather for a few days, before it gets cold again. Half the time Christmas day is shorts weather . . .
I can't remember the last Christmas when I even needed a sweater, Nichole.
I have pictures from all the kids and grands being down here the week after Christmas and everyone has on shorts.
its 37 here right now
Today was great!! It's only getting down to the 40's tonight.but that S word is forcasted for Sunday.....darn.
Terribly windy and in the mid 60's here today. Getting chilly, brought the kids' winter coats out of storage this week!
My goodness, it is only Oct 7th and Jim has 37 degree temps. Yikes!!! That is freezing to me!!!
We don't have the warm clothes for cold weather. When I lived in the mountains, we all had appropriate layers of clothing. Now, I don't even own a coat...........don't travel very far anymore....smiling..
30's, 40's, 60's . . . what are those like?!?
Sometimes I think Thanksgiving can be colder than Christmas.
I noticed at Walmart today, they were starting to put out the 'winter' coats. Winter coats . . . on a day when you break a sweat walking across the parking lot . . . sheesh!
I remember a Christmas several years ago when the candy canes melted on the tree!
wow, snow already for Lynn.
I don't even keep up with the daytime temps anymore. Just watch for freezing at night so I can bring my plants in! My ever faithful christmas cactus are all budding up out there too. So exciting because they have some of the prettiest blooms around.
we are in the 60's during the days, low in the 40's at night.still nice.
mrsbonnie
Fall is here 45 now 60 later. They are saying we might see some snowflakes next week.
I was only going to post about the temps and weather the next day or two, but when I looked up the 10 day forecast, I was quite surprised to see how cool we're gonna get next week! Look at Tuesday - high of 59! Brrr! I'll freeze! LOL Looks like I'll need to bring all my plants in on Saturday, because I won't have time Sunday, and Monday morning it will be too cold for them. I love my plants, but *sigh* there are so many to bring in and I don't know where to put them all! Guess I'll go clean off that plant stand I'm using as a storage shelf and get it set up for use. :oP

Today we will have a high of 53 degrees and 2-4 inches of rain is forecast. The lows have been in the low 40's but a state wide killing freeze is forecast for Monday. UGH!!!!
It's 90 here with a heat index of 99! The humidity is stifling- the grounds are saturated from previous rains- the mosquitoes are still breeding and biting! Other than that, I guess it's OK! LOL
love, julie
Here in Southern BC, Canada, daytime highes have been in the 60F range, with lows to down to 28F. Supposed to continue to drop over the next few days. Very sad. Our climate is semi-arid, so very dry. Not many mosquitos ever.

Hi ,
It is in the 40s now with sun off and on and may have frost tonight and a freeze tomorrow night and a touch of snow over the weekend the Winter wants the reins now even though Fall is trying to hang on , this time of year we go back and forth for a time but it usually never gets very warm , 50s tops .
Connie :)
It's rainy, rainy, rainy, gloomy, dismal, dull, overcast....yuck.
I normally love fall with the crisp temperatures perfect for long walks with a sweetie. This fall has been abnormally rainy more like spring or very late fall. I feel like I've only seen the sun once in the last month though I am fairly certain that is an exaggeration. I have live in very cold MN, very warm TX, middling AK, and Ice Belt mid IL along with my current home of Windy Chicago. They all have they charms and all have their drawbacks. The humidity that some of you are describing would be the death of me! My body seems to have a high furnace setting only and living in a colder climate works far better for me.
80 degrees today. Wow!
Oh Shanika , it froze here overnight , my pots outside had ice on top , so sad to lose Summer and Fall so fast , going to get light snow tomorrow , I love beautiful snowfaries racing across the roads in the Winter but it is toooooooooo early yet , we had 27 + inches of snow on Halloween a few years back and it was a blast , I stayed up most of the night and listened to ghost stories on the radio cause I knew school would be closed and no work so I had fun staying up watching it snow and getting deliciously scared by ghost stories :) but don't want snow yet :)
Hugs .....Warm from the heat being on already LOL :)
Connie
Oh that sounds like fun!~ I was imagining myself doing the same. How cozy! Did you have hot chocolate or anything to eat?
My poor christmas cactus are probably a tad confused now. I brought most of them in a little while ago. Most of them have set buds and I wanted to bring them in at a time when the temps outside matched the temps inside(or close to it!) to reduce the chance of bud blast. Do you grow christmas cactus Connie?
We got a little rain today and a norther came in!! Hip hip hooray , it will get down to 60 degrees in the morning. I even opened my windows after the rain and aired the house out......first time since last winter.
Connie, when I lived in Ruidoso, NM , we always got our first snow in October and it was a new spiritual experience each year! I would always stay up all night in our cabin on the river and watch the snow fall with all the lights on the outside of the house turned on. I am a little jealous..........no wonder you didn't go to bed.........we could always count on a snow day the next day so the kids could stay up and watch, too.
I didn't see this thread yesterday, but today it was in the low 90s. Right now at 7:30pm it's still 82 degrees. We had a few days of cool temps in the morning, enough to tell my plumeria and adenium to start dropping leaves.
Now with the high temps again, two plumies are blooming and one adenium is starting with buds. I wish Mother Nature would get her act together and get the weather moving the way it should. LOL
Rain, Rain go away.......... we have had rain, and lots of it! 2 1/2 inches overnight Wed., and checking the rain gauge right now, another 4 on top of that! The weatherman said nice tomorrow, its around 50 degrees. We turned on the fireplace just to knock the humidity out of the room. It actually looks really cozy.
Laura H
It rained enough this morning that I could water all my outside potted plants. It was very cool and comfortable all day!
Wasn't today, Nichole, the nicest weather we have had in a long long time!
We are still in 'drought time'..........not getting enough to make a difference with the farmers.
I think we are still behind 14 inches.......at this time of the year.
It was SO nice!
GrowHappy you mentioned Christmas Cactus. I have very fond memories of my grandfather's plants. But I am confused about them. The ones I see in the stores do not look like the ones he had. I asked my mom and she said that he grew "true" Christmas Cactus and the ones we grow now are a different plant.
I would love to find someone who grows the "real" plant but I don't even know what it's called. Do you know if you are growing the more recent version or the older version?
Laura where is Highland, IL? I know Highland, IN, but not IL. I don't have a rain gauge but my outdoor plants are just flooded. I picked all my turning tomatoes tonight in case of freezing weather thought since it's 44 now I think it should miss us.
Anna your mom is right!!!! The ones you typically see today are schlumbergera truncata. The ones your grandfather grew were most likely schlumbergera x buckleyi or the true christmas cactus. The difference is the truncatas have crab-like claws and the buckleyi's have rounded scalloped edges. I do have one buckleyi that I feel so lucky to have gotten because you can't find them anymore commercially. I got lucky in a trade year before last. Anyway, when it's bigger, I would be happy to share some cuttings with you.
67 degrees right now in Baltimore!
23 and snowing and windy, gonna go back to normal soon
