Thought for the Day: #3

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

YAAAWN GROOAAAAAN!!!! It must be Monday again...

Monday Thought for the Day:

Life is like an onion; you peel off one layer at a time and sometimes you weep.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Good morning all!! I thought I would let you all know about my home state.

You know you're an Arizona native when... a rainy day puts you in a good mood.

You know you're from Arizona when you drive two miles around a parking lot looking for a shady place - even in the dead of winter.

You know you're an Arizona native when you "hug" a cactus only once in your lifetime.

You know you live in Phoenix when you are willing to park 3 blocks away because you actually found shade from a palm tree imported 300 miles from California and nurtured with water piped 250 miles from Nevada.

You think someone driving wearing oven mitts is clever

You live in arizona if you realize asphalt has a liquid state.

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

LOL, Marie. Love the oven mitts idea!

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

The sad part is you really do need them some days. I have blistered my fingers before from the steering wheel. Just one time but that was enough!!!

No. San Diego Co., CA(Zone 10b)

I can imagine. Even here, I use a windshield shade when parking during the hot months.

The Creation Story as told by a bird

On the first day of creation, God created the bird.
On the second day, God created man to serve the bird.
On the third day, God created all the plants of the earth to serve as potential food for the bird.
On the fourth day, God created honest toil so that man could labour for the good of the bird.
On the fifth day, God created the toy so that the bird might or might not destroy it.
On the sixth day, God created veterinary science to keep the bird healthy and the man broke.
On the seventh day, God tried to rest, but He had to feed, clean, and amuse the bird.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

I learned to cover the steering wheel with a white towel.
I have also learned that even here in Menifee, asphalt has a liquid state, and when you build a raised planter out of old rail road ties be sure any asphalt faces downward. Ruined a pair of shoes learning that.
The oven mitts are a clever idea, 'cause you still have to open the car door . . .
I love AZ, and much of what you said applies to our CA deserts too.
Marie, Thanks for making me laugh on a cold, gloomy day! : - )

LOL---my parakeets enjoyed that one too!!

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

My reason to get up in the morning. (at least it's my reason to turn on the computer!!) grin.

Tuesday Thought for the Day:

Life is not so bad if you have plenty of luck, a good physique and not too much imagination. ++

Bonus Thought:

Hard work has a future payoff. Laziness pays off NOW!!!

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I've just experienced the strangest phenomena. I was outside this morning doing my regular walk over and there was suddenly water falling from the sky. You know water like what you see in a bottle at the grocery store, only it was in little droplets falling right out of the sky. I've heard of this occurrence before, but I don't seem to remember it myself.

60 degrees and RAIN!!!!!!! YIPPEEEE!!!!!!!!

Hope we all get a bit of it today.

Mackinaw, IL(Zone 5a)

LOL Pirate. Come back to Illinois for a while. Seems like we've had nothing but rain for ages! I have bulbs and daylilies and mums all waiting to be planted, but just can't get motivated to go mud them down in 40 degree weather.

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

I really did enjoy my visit there this SUMMER Angie. I'm just not sure I could handle the WINTER. I suppose I could get accustomed to most anything. I've acclimated to some pretty uncomfortable situations in my life!!

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

I think you are lying to make friends. Rain? yeah right!! ( Just teasing)

Mackinaw, IL(Zone 5a)

Not so sure I can handle the winters here myself. Ugh. My mom just e-mailed me a picture of her re-blooming iris blooms covered in a haze of snow. I am NOT ready for this!

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

We got some of that long awaited rain last night. Very cool out and hoping for more rain. Sun is trying to come out, I always need a little sun to get my day going.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Raining here too. Cheers!
Watch out on the road, remember CA's don't know how to drive in the rain.

Don't play 'Cat and Mouse' if you're not the Cat!

Raining here too! (and Hard!!) .

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

That is ok SW We do not know how to drive in the rain either in Arizona almost as dangerous as having a drunk driver on the road!!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Made it home again, home again, jiggety jig.
Didn't even see any accidents!

Good morning all..
Wednesday already?!! The days drag and the weeks fly by..

Wednesday Thought for the day:

If we take care of the moments, the years will take care of themselves.

Those who stand for nothing will fall for anything.

Kwanjin-
Awesome reality check!!
I agree immensely!

Thanks, Larry. ^_^

I'm paraphrasing, so feel free to help me get it right.

All it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to stand aside and do nothing.

Can't remember, darn it!

I was just coming over here to post the same thing! You've got it right enough. :-) I checked and there are several different versions.

I was going to say it's close enough, too, SW - one of my favorites!

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Guides my life, which is why I intimidate some people and sometimes gets me into trouble. I can't stand by and see other people get picked on. At least I know that I'm not alone. : - )

Good morning my fellow flora lovers. Hope you have a deliciously wonderful day today.

Thursday Thought for the Day:

The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time... somewhere... someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Jumping at several small opportunities may get us there more quickly than waiting for one big one to come along.

Tolleson, AZ(Zone 9a)

Problems are only opportunities with thorns on them

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

DP, reminds me of the time I was driving and mentioned to my son that I wanted people out of my way and he said, "What do you want...flamethrowers?" Yes, yes, yes!

(Zone 7a)

If a jogger runs at the speed of sound, can he still hear his walkman?

Fallbrook, CA(Zone 10b)

Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only YOU can feel the true warmth.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Not when you are wearing your wetsuit! LOL! Feel the warmth! : - )
