Monday Thought for the Day:

Life is like an onion; you peel off one layer at a time and sometimes you weep.

Good morning all!! I thought I would let you all know about my home state.


You know you're an Arizona native when... a rainy day puts you in a good mood.

You know you're from Arizona when you drive two miles around a parking lot looking for a shady place - even in the dead of winter.

You know you're an Arizona native when you "hug" a cactus only once in your lifetime.

You know you live in Phoenix when you are willing to park 3 blocks away because you actually found shade from a palm tree imported 300 miles from California and nurtured with water piped 250 miles from Nevada.

You think someone driving wearing oven mitts is clever

You live in arizona if you realize asphalt has a liquid state.

The sad part is you really do need them some days. I have blistered my fingers before from the steering wheel. Just one time but that was enough!!!

I can imagine. Even here, I use a windshield shade when parking during the hot months.

The Creation Story as told by a bird

On the first day of creation, God created the bird.
On the second day, God created man to serve the bird.
On the third day, God created all the plants of the earth to serve as potential food for the bird.
On the fourth day, God created honest toil so that man could labour for the good of the bird.
On the fifth day, God created the toy so that the bird might or might not destroy it.
On the sixth day, God created veterinary science to keep the bird healthy and the man broke.
On the seventh day, God tried to rest, but He had to feed, clean, and amuse the bird.

I learned to cover the steering wheel with a white towel.
I have also learned that even here in Menifee, asphalt has a liquid state, and when you build a raised planter out of old rail road ties be sure any asphalt faces downward. Ruined a pair of shoes learning that.
The oven mitts are a clever idea, 'cause you still have to open the car door . . .
I love AZ, and much of what you said applies to our CA deserts too.

I've just experienced the strangest phenomena. I was outside this morning doing my regular walk over and there was suddenly water falling from the sky. You know water like what you see in a bottle at the grocery store, only it was in little droplets falling right out of the sky. I've heard of this occurrence before, but I don't seem to remember it myself.

60 degrees and RAIN!!!!!!! YIPPEEEE!!!!!!!!

Hope we all get a bit of it today.

LOL Pirate. Come back to Illinois for a while. Seems like we've had nothing but rain for ages! I have bulbs and daylilies and mums all waiting to be planted, but just can't get motivated to go mud them down in 40 degree weather.

I really did enjoy my visit there this SUMMER Angie. I'm just not sure I could handle the WINTER. I suppose I could get accustomed to most anything. I've acclimated to some pretty uncomfortable situations in my life!!

I think you are lying to make friends. Rain? yeah right!! ( Just teasing)

Not so sure I can handle the winters here myself. Ugh. My mom just e-mailed me a picture of her re-blooming iris blooms covered in a haze of snow. I am NOT ready for this!

We got some of that long awaited rain last night. Very cool out and hoping for more rain. Sun is trying to come out, I always need a little sun to get my day going.

Raining here too. Cheers!
Watch out on the road, remember CA's don't know how to drive in the rain.

The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time... somewhere... someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

Jumping at several small opportunities may get us there more quickly than waiting for one big one to come along.

Problems are only opportunities with thorns on them

DP, reminds me of the time I was driving and mentioned to my son that I wanted people out of my way and he said, "What do you want...flamethrowers?" Yes, yes, yes!
