Planting around pools/specifically pindo palms

San Antonio, TX

I planted a pindo palm in a planter 12- 14" from the pool wall, understanding that palms were the best next to a pool. It is growing rapidly and is kind of scaring us. Should we take it out? Are the roots going to affect the pool wall/foundation? Appreciate any help!

Welcome to Dave's Garden dwhitler. I'm sorry it took so long to reply, but somehow this one slipped by us.

This forum is for help with the PlantFiles database. I would suggest posting your question to the Beginner Gardening forum. It's open to all members, subscribed or not, and there's lots of knowledgeable people that hang out there. Here's a link: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/b_gardentalk/all/

I would reccomend removing it. It is not the roots so much as the trunk gets very large, and will reach the conctrete, at that point the trunk will be pushing on the concrete! It is not good for the tree either. Check out www.pindopalms.com
