There is like a web on the branch with with little black pepper things inside the web. Lots of them.

Did you ever notice a bunch of caterpillars feeding? This looks like it may be caterpillar poop. They make a web to protect themselves and come out at night to feed. Probably pupating by now.

No, I have not noticed any caterpillars, but I have not really looked. So I will look now. thank you for the reply
