Hello All,

I sowed one from seed this year the last week of June. Next year I'll know to sow the beginning of June. I expected to have been able to harvest the head with the seeds by now.
So now it's "crunch time". Thursday night we'll have our 1st hard freeze already. Last year it was November 4th! I'm attaching 2 pics (one is a close-up) of what it looks like now. What should I do if it still is not ready to harvest? I still don't see any seed development yet...and I don't know if 3-4 days is going to make much of a difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Susan that look great.. Any chance of coveing it with a couple of blankets. Wish I was more help.

You might try building a pyramid (or wigwam) out of long sticks, or pieces of plastic pipe and covering it with clear plastic. This could slow the rate of cooling at night a little, just like giving it just a little longer. You might also set a couple buckets of water in there. If it is humid, it will take a little longer for the air to freeze. This has a chance of working so long as you don't get a lot of wind when it gets cold.

woww I can't believe were already getting freezing weather! Those flowers look great though, I hope everything works out :)
