Morning Glories 2009 #18

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Thanks Jackie and Debra. My vines are winding down now, so the bloom show is about over. :-(

Debra - The I. indica bloom is about 4" wide. They are deep flowers. I like mine because of the bright blue blooms! It is a very attractive vine. I need a different strain to cross it with to get seeds. I might have some that I received from someone a year or so ago that I may grow out next Spring so that I can cross with the bright blue one and get seeds to share. I. indica are perennials, not annuals. :-)

No Hikari bloom two days ago. Becky is the only one
who asked for sds of this one. I like it a lot too Becky.

I didn't see you post it, it looks like a procelain white colour, Jackie, if it is, save me a seed or two plz.. my wedding bells is blooming inside in the Pink Bedroom, had my try at hand pollinating, also one of Liz's lav beauty is really blooming nicely in the window ... got some seed pods from Rob Correias' lobata finally..
I have tons of shibouri seeds, and some shibouris blooming down in the rooting tub right now..

OK. .. I have a ? .. will cows eat morning glories?? will they harm the cows if they do eat it??

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Debra, I don't know that it's a porcelain white but will save you a
couple of sds so you can grow it and see. I think I have several
seed pods forming.

I don't know if cows will eat m glories. Since cows are so large,
I don't think the mg's will hurt them. Maybe someone else knows
for sure.

Thanks becky. . (not what I wanted to hear, but oh well)

Neighbor has an unsightly pasture behind us, wanted to "dress up" the fence...but now that I know MG's are poisonous to them. toss that idea.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Love your blooms Debra. I don't even know what a Rivera is. Is it
a m glory? What do the little pink popcorn blooms go to, the Rivera?
You definitely have a jungle room.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

My Hige almost feathered the other day. It might have had a better
chance of feathering if I had potted it up from the 3 inch pot. Oh well,
tons of plants and just one of me. lol

That's exactly how I feel, patootie!!! Not just in the garden either!!!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

DirtyGirl71 - I am glad I could give you some links of information. Sorry that it wasn't what you were hoping to hear. Many plants are toxic to humans and other mammals. Good luck finding something that will give good coverage, but not be toxic to any cows or horses that might graze on the plants.

Debra - OMG! I love your basement! That is sooooo coooool!!! You literally have a jungle down there! I wished I had a green room in my house. No spare rooms here unfortunately. :-( I, too, am interested to know more about your Rivera Corymbosa. Never heard of it before! Tell us more!

Jackie - Nice hige! Is it purple or blue? I. purpurea? I know what you mean about those smaller pots. I started several seeds in small styrofoam cups and when I transplanted them up, it looks like they are stunted and are now not doing so well. Will have to start some more from seed in the pots. Probably due to the Fall season. It's still hot here, but I think the plants know. Most of the plants in my yard are starting to die back. Winter is on the way!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Dirty Girl. My age is definitely showing.

Becky, it is a purple. At least 3 of the feathered's I'm growing are purple.
Every single one in a 3 inch pot. lol. For sure purpurea's, upside down
seed pods.

Patootie, that blue morning glory is very beautiful. Where did you
purchase the seeds? I better be careful when I look at everyone's
flowers. I was only planning on growing Flying Saucers that I bought
this fall. Now I might like some others. That's what happened to
me on the Daylily threads. Had 12 in my garden, didn't plan on anymore.
Now I have 32 new daylilies(all on sale).

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good grief, just saw my mis-id above with the white bloom, pink throat.
That's not no Hikari, it's Jo Hanten shibori. But to tell the truth, I can't
hardly tell them apart.
zinniared, the blue is a feathered hige, I can send you some seeds when mine makes sds. Just send me a dmail please with your addy to help me remember.

Virginia Beach, VA(Zone 7b)

Okay patootie, that would be great.
