Dave, are you still here? I should have taken a photo outside before I brought my pots inside because the lighting is weird. You were asking about the tips of the leaves. I don't know if you can see what you were looking for.

Ok, here is another one. Let me know why you wanted to see the tips of that plant.

Moon, I had to use 2 of my 10.5" pots that I was planning to use for something else in the spring. I only have one left now. I have a plastic one a little smaller. Then I have about six 8" pots.

The one that looks like a yucca tree could have even gone into a larger pot. Poor thing. The other one that looks similar to a hibiscus had roots growing out of its small pot. They were all roots and no soil!

I don't think I could even get one beet into an 8" pot! Or beans either!

I am thinking about painting a kitty liter pail and using that!

My avocado trees have supports. But they still want to lean. I don't know what else I can do. Does anyone have some ideas??

Keaau, HI

Thanks Carol. Are the edges of the leaves sharp; do they contain small teeth? Is the tip of the leaf sharp and hard?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

The tips aren't really hard or sharp. The leaves don't have any small teeth or little hairy things.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Dave, when I bought that yucca type plant, there were others of the same thing that had leaves at the bottom and looked more like a bush than a tree. Does that help?

ok carol which bush is what?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

The one on the left is a triangle palm. The one on the right, I forget what it is called. The one with pointy leaves close to the top of this thread, that is the one Dave is trying to ID.

So why are you doing the happy dance?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

no Carol what you sent me which plant is what....I don't remember what you were sending me but I got today...along with some of my seeds that I ordered

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Sorry, why didn't you say so!!! The small one is a butterfly bush. The big one is gaura lindheimeri 'walgaupf' pink fountain. You might even divide that bush since it is big. They arrived ok?

Trina, I hope you like them. Like I said before, I couldn't get that butterfly bush to grow. But there are tiny little green things between the stems and roots. I am sure you can get it to grow well.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

probably right out front in that garden I think since i have to dig the tree roses out...i just need it to quit raining so I can and also put the hyacinth and tulips in....uhg

alright I'm gonna be gone for like 30 minutes need to take a bath and have a little cry, I just got news that a very dear friend passed away this morning...I will be back in about 30 minutes

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Trina, so so sorry about your sad news.

Kenmore, NY(Zone 6a)

Sorry for your loss Trina. I know how you must feel.

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

ok so maybe I wont be getting in the tub

Keaau, HI

The striped leaf next to the palm is Dracaena fragrans 'Massangeana'.

I'm pretty sure the Yucca looking plant is a Dasylirion; just not sure which one.
If you run your finger along the edge of the leaf is it smooth or rough, even a little sharp like a saw blade.
If there were teeth there they would look like a hand saw blade under a microscope.
Or can you show a focused close-up of the leaf edges that can show me the details of the margin.

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Really it feels smooth. I ran my fingers down edges of several of the leaves. It is very smooth. I don't have a camera that would show that close up of the leaf edges.

Keaau, HI

Thanks Carol, that helps.

Aloha Dave....I know I know eventually I will get the rest, just trying to figure what information in my brain will be lost in order for me to remember the proper Hawaii'an greeting

Good evening All

Mahalo Dave!

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Since I don’t have that much light inside and much space, I hope I can put one of these plants not as close to a window. Please help me.

Which plants can grow in low light? Please list these numbers from lowest to highest light level.

1. avocado trees
2. Dasylirion (yucca like tree)
3. Hibiscus rosa-sinensis
4. triangle palm Madagascar
5. ordinary philodendron vine like Trina has on the top of her kitchen cabinets.
6. Dracaena fragrans 'Massangeana' – right side of palm

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

Venice the Philodendron doesn't need much light at all...in fact if it's like mine the less light the more variegation you get in the leaves...why does trying to get in the shower have to be such a chore?!?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 -- Can anyone else give me some feedback?

Canton,IL &Dent Coun, MO(Zone 5b)

1 & 3 need the most
then 2 4 and 6 need a little less and
#5 needs very little in fact it will grow in the basement

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

5 Least Light
2, 4, 6
1, 3 Most Light

Is that right?
