Hi!
I live in Florida. I planted a gorgeous Mandevilla and for many weeks, it has given us gorgeous red flowers and healthy leaves, and has grown like fire!
Now...since about the end of August, the leaves are turning yellow and the plant looks like it isn't long for this world!
I know we haven't watered it except when the sprinklers come on once a week...so it shouldn't sit in water...
Also....when (or if) do I prune this plant?
I sure would appreciate getting some good advice!
Thanks in advance,
SoniaRose
P.S. We were told to check for mites, but so far, we haven't seen any.
Mandevilla Vine in ground (not in a pot)
The leaves that are yellowing - have you checked the underside where the broad portion of the leaf meets the stem? Do you see anything that looks like a "cob-web" in this area? Any small white "particles" on the leaves or vines?
Can you post a picture showing the plant & some of the yellowing leaves? Mites leave a telltale stippled yellow pattern on the leaves so someone should be able to guess whether that's a possibility or if it's more likely to be something else. Has your weather changed since the end of August? Plants need water a different frequency depending on temperatures, etc so if your weather has been cooler then the once a week that was fine during the hotter part of summer may be too much now. Or if you've been in a heat wave then it could be it needs more.
