I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Neem oil for disease and insect control in the garden. I had some success but when I went "full bore" on all my garden, new plants and new growth was distorted. I've heard that reducing the recommended rates may help. I have also heard from organic gardeners that it is not organic. Thanks!
Neem oil
There was a big rush to Neem oil for the Red Lily Beetle.
I used K withNeeme a product at garden centers.
I was useless on the lily beetle.
Sorry I dont know any other lore about it.
Thanks! I had high hopes for it and have not given up yet. Worked really well for corn borers. I try and let the bugs have there fun too but when they get carried away I have to do something. Oh, another thing: When planting marigolds to ward of insects, plant the South African kind. The others actually attract cucumber beetles. Just fyi. :o)
Thanks for the info
I use neem oil, and find it effective against soft bodied insects and larvae, but of no use in controlling beetle damage. If used regularly, it is helpful in preventing fungal diseases, but not all that great at curing an already infected plant. I see it listed when searching for organic pest control, but since it is essential oils from the Neem tree, perhaps some organic gardeners prefer it from organically grown Neem trees. There are sources listed on line that sell organic Neem.
Thanks Gemini!
