My indeterminate tomato plant is gradually turning brown from the ground up. It is still bearing friut on the top, but it seems to be dying. I live in Tennessee, it is warm here still, temps above 60 all the time. Do they have a life span that is up or is it some kind of disease?
tomato plant turning brown
That is pretty much par for the course. I just pinch off the dead foliage if I have time. jjsgramma had a post similar to this and some recommendations were made. You might check it out. Seems like they told her to spray with daconil.
Yep that's what they told me.
It it rains spray again. I had a plant I had literally plucked all the leaves off of and it still had ripening fruit on it.
Kept spraying and now I have almost a whole new plant of really nice green leaves and new blossoms.
Kinda late for me though it's getting cold and frost can't be to far away.
Good luck
I knew you were lurking in the shadows, jjs. Got any carmel left?
Sure Jim need some?
Nice to see ya
I am truly amazed each day at the end of the summer season that my garden just keeps on giving! I live in Maryland and today I actually picked 7 more Moon and Stars Watermelons. So EricaB be grateful! Your tomato plants are doing wonderfully! I still have some herbs to dry and I still have pole beans! Hallejuyah!! :D
You know I have a sweet tooth, jjs.
Makes for some good eatin, flowerchild, when you can go straight to the garden and pick something. I think one reason I veggie garden is that I like things fresh off the vine. My summer garden has about played out but still get a few cukes. Okra is in abundance and am about to run out of neighbors to give it to. I have butterbeans that I replanted, with a lot of hulls. Planted some scalloped squash and they are just starting to bear. Mustard and turnip greens are about a week away from being big enough to pick. It is a good life for a gardener.
And it seems you are enjoying it to the fullest, Jim....grin. How are ya? Moon
Right now I'm tired. Had to go to Shreveport today. Glad to be home.
