I went to Home Depot yesterday and browsed the gardening section for a possible pot and trellis set up. Found exactly what I wanted but at over $100 just couldn't bring myself to do it. Instead I bought a pack of six 5 foot long bamboo plant stakes, some funny green velcro called "plant tape", plant/flower food and a soda! Got home and took my ivy out to the deck. I stuck stakes into pot arranged the vines so they wouldn't tangle and carefully "taped" them to the bamboo. On a few of the vines i cut off more than 10 feet!!!!! I felt like I had cut off my dogs tail! Each cutting I took off was carefully placed in fresh soil (3 of the medium length ones were soiled and wrapped around planter original ivy is in). I have not a single empty pot in my house now! Some of the vines took up an entire pot after wrapping them around and around and around and around and ........! After every vine was potted I fed all of my plants and gave them each a little love...explained i was only trying to help them so please work with me.
My husband came home and shook his head..I have 2 plants sitting on my computer desk, the ivy is still in the kitchen corner, 2 plants in hall outside my bedroom and 3 in my bedroom. I bet he can't wait till I get a job. But he told me in the spring he will build me some kind of trellis for the ivy..He just doesn't realize i now have 3 more pots of that particular ivy. God love him!
Thank you all for your advice!
